stevo Posted January 29, 2012 at 11:57 PM Posted January 29, 2012 at 11:57 PM That interview was AMAZING- I take back that she was pissed off, or didn't want to be there. She apparently loved it!!! Quote
puttybuddy Posted January 30, 2012 at 12:00 AM Posted January 30, 2012 at 12:00 AM I thought her show in Jamaica looked awesome!! So glad they loved her as much as we do. She looks about thirty in those videos, so hot! My one and only lady crush! Quote The greatest voice ever! ♥
Claudette Posted January 30, 2012 at 12:00 AM Posted January 30, 2012 at 12:00 AM (edited) at Shaun's remark. I bet that track sounds something like this: ''Becoming a mother changed me, it changed my priorities... Nothing gives me more joy than watching my three sons grow up. And Nelson and Eddy started walking, it is amazing. And I'm still breastfeeding Nelson....'' Only kidding, love Celine. I have to agree with some of you that she does sound great on the live parts though. Her voice is in great shape, so hopefully it will show on the new album. Alex_Incognito Posted January 30, 2012 at 12:03 AM Posted January 30, 2012 at 12:03 AM (edited) I'm surprised at the people that thought she didn't want to be there. I thought she looked like she was loving it (except for the THLAL mishap). I don't like that us fans that expect MORE from Celine get asked why we're still fans. That's an unfair question. Celine's been a part of my life since Beauty and the Beast and she's my favorite female vocalist. I learned French to understand HER songs. Why should I drop her from my life if I think it's crap that she lips? Were's the logic? And what fan is going to boo her and throw the tomatoes she picked from her garden in 2002 and throw them at her? We respect her as a vocalist, and that's what we want to see on stage. Edited January 30, 2012 at 12:05 AM by Alex_Incognito Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990

Let's hear more of that please Celine! I did lol, when she said "vegas is on hold right now" it made me happy lol I know she's a mom and that she doesn't want to travel the world as much, but i think vegas makes celine robotic and boring at times, you can only sing the same songs in the same arrangement so many nights in a row, year after year before you get sick of it... I for ONE love the world-tour cool celine, everything about this appearance was very world-tourish everything from her arriving in the red pants and sunglasses to rock out during soundcheck to the performance being outside with fans singing along, even up too her doing a interview right after her performance... I know, i know I'm from the US but i want the world-wide Celine back, she's more rock, she's more sexy, she's more of a artist... and I'm not bashing on vegas or anything but I'm sorry but at times i do feel she loses that sense of "artist" when in vegas, everything becomes monotone after a while there... I love the feel of us welcoming celine into our homes, I'm selfish guess but i prefer the celine that comes to us, because i feel that celine is more true and more happy to be onstage, probably because when traveling her fans have to come see her in that venue rather than some gambler that gets comped free tickets from a casino... just my thoughts! I'm sure she realises how many things she has to refuse because of Vegas, and maybe projects she has to turn down when she doesn't want to. I hope she's starting to fed up about that situation because of Vegas. But HERE comes the point where I don't get to understand how the idea of extending the contract even enters in their heads! It's contradictory Every time she goes out from Las Vegas looks so excited and HAPPY, the proof is this press conference, and that's because she's missing the fun out there, and she realizes about that. So why MORE Vegas? Wished that the "Vegas is on hold right now" meant that they stopped the negotiations and won't extend the contract anymore! Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
amelie Posted January 30, 2012 at 12:30 AM Posted January 30, 2012 at 12:30 AM (edited) To me Celine is a professional performer and if lip synching never existed, you wouldnt have seen her doing that many shows for the past 30 yrs. Without playbacks, she would either have had throat cancer by now, or she would be home 50% of the time to recover from all that singing. oooor she would have learned something called TECHNIQUE instead of doing Vegas and earning millions P.S. i don't think you get any form of cancer by singing no matter how Edited January 30, 2012 at 12:37 AM by amelie Quote

I thought she made it perfectly clear in interviews over and over again...the reason they are extending the Vegas contract is because she wants to be settled in one place and raise her twins. I just think it's a practical approach in their eyes to stay in Vegas. It's going to be a repeat as last time, I imagine. The twins will be able to get old enough during Vegas' run this time so she can put out another album at the end and head out for another tour and they will be old enough to travel that much. Why they choose to do Vegas is probably so that there's SOMETHING for the fans to see during this time instead of her taking time off for 5 years. That's how I think it's justified. edit: just as was said here, I agree with this:I thought she made it perfectly clear in interviews over and over again...the reason they are extending the Vegas contract is because she wants to be settled in one place and raise her twins. Can't there be a middle point, a situation in which there's a balance between both worlds? Yes, to her the balance is exactly as it is right now, living in Las Vegas and singing there, but for the fans? She believes fans are getting something like that, but when we're asking always for new music and the inmense majority of fans who cannot make it to Las Vegas but want new things from her, all we've got is 5 years without a new album, when she used to release a new one every 1-2 years. So its doing a marathon of 723 shows in 5 years, and now back there again, or absolutely nothing? Sorry I don't believe that. There are many other options between one point and the other extreme For example, I would have preferred 4 new english albums since 2003-2012 with good promotion for the songs to leave as legacy than around 1,000 shows and only ONE album with discrete promotion. The shows she will have done there by 2015 are all the same, each night is the same repetitive routine, she has sang during 8-10 years the same program of songs with scarce innovations. But just imagine for a moment what she could have done since 2003 if Vegas didn't happen, how many different things, new songs and different performances she could have done here and there in all those years. I keep thinking René loves the €$$€€ behind all this and forced it to happen again even when they had many other options rather than repeating the story again Edited January 30, 2012 at 01:14 AM by Javito Quote "Hush, now... *Daniel Posted January 30, 2012 at 01:15 AM Posted January 30, 2012 at 01:15 AM I WANT I DROVE ALL NIGHT!!!!! Me too And I know this next comment will probably get me in trouble, but I'm sorry, I just can't resist. So I just won't say any names. But for the one who has seen the show dozens of times, if you really can't tell she is lipping after dozens of times, then get your ears checked because it's obvious you have some sort of problem whether it's with false delusions or your hearing. I'm not saying that everyone who thinks she sings live has a problem or is delusional, because there are many people who honestly do not know, and genuinely think she is. They feel this because they have not seen her youtube videos much, have not looked into it, and just accept it as being live. With Celine being a "vocalist" type of performer, they have no reason to think anything other than that. But for those who have seen hundreds or even thousands of videos, and seen her 20 times or whatever it may be, there is no reason to deny it. Lol Anyway, I'm gonna call my ranting to an end for awhile. I got a lot of homework to do and that's obviously more important than posting about dishonesty. How can you tell if she is lipping at song? Criticize now and again? That's all some people do I hear happiness in these videos. Not sure why people had said the crowd was boring but with every song they are singing along and loudly That what I love about some of those videos <3 There's a positive side of the story, not many people is going to know if she lipped or not since I don't think the audience got to tell from the stage if she was actually singing or not. When you're there in person its hard to tell. And since we're not goint to have decent videos from this concert (and I highly doubt that after the sound failures in THLAL they will release this on DVD), only the hardcore fans here know about this I can't even tell if she lipping songs (but then I don't think I been a fan long enough to work it all out) Quote "Everything is pretty much possible if you believe in yourself." ~ Celine Dion

celine_026 Posted January 30, 2012 at 01:34 AM Posted January 30, 2012 at 01:34 AM (edited) I don't post here very often anymore, because of this reason, but I feel compelled to say some things that I'm sure I've said before a million times because this is my HERO (and not just me, even some of you debbie downers) you are disrespecting. Yes we are all entitled to an opinion- that is the function of a forum, but COME ON. Don't disrespect her like this. She left home and her children to an unknown place and took a risk at this festival and made history, sang her heart out, yes SANG, danced her little short skirted booty off, in the heat and humidity when all she was probably thinking about was her babies, wore herself out then flew home. Would you have the strength and drive to do that? Would you put everything aside and give your all? She doesn't have to do any of this. The reason she is a legend is because she works for it. Hard. There are a million lessons we can learn from her perseverance. I really couldn't do it. It's amazing how much she gives and gives and unbelievable how much you complain and complain. Be grateful!!! Be careful of what you say, because she reads these forums. I'd hate for her to read what you've written because truly, most of us appreciate all of her hard work and SINGING that she does. I really dont care if you make fun of me or rip me apart bc it's really predictable andddd lame. I'd rather you take out your negativity on me than her anyway. Are you joking on us? Celine does not read this. She didn't even know when people didn't want her to come to that Halifax town in Canada. She lives in a bubble where Rene emulates a world where she is the best singer and everybody is fine about the things she do. We do truly appreciate her "hard work" (60 shows a year -- not even two months...), I wouldn't mind buying her cds if I didn't, or clean out the DUST from them like I did today... if I didn't. You watch out girl, because this is a FAN forum and we love Celine, but there are certain things happening that shouldn't. About your post, also, you also joke again?!?!?! "OMG, Celine just left her children at home CRY CRY CRY, OMGG this is soo sad right?? OMG the humidity, omg tiny skirt... SO sad right?..." Please me up... Well, IF she did that for at least 2 million... might at least have rehearsed the lyrics to the songs so she could LIP em well! -- thing she didn't! Not even remembering the lyrics to LIP well she is doing anymore! AT least freaking re-learn the lyrics to do it well! Madonna and other girls are out there with tons of children and they manage to do MORE and better than Celine, lipping or not, I don't care. Like I said before, and like SHE said before during the tur "might as well stop before things go wrong" while she was still on top. Now things are gonna get like this, down hill, and her name goes right behind! She is symbol of power of voice, but as people learn that she does lip, what will be left? Funny faces and jokes about her? Or her trying-too-hard persona that America has learned too long ago, also? C'mon... Belle Céline Posted January 30, 2012 at 01:55 AM Posted January 30, 2012 at 01:55 AM Jamaica isn't exactly an unknown place, she was gone for like one day from 'home'. The kids we all know odds are went with her. She was only gone a few hours or more, it's not like she left for a week. Heat and humidity? It's only 81 in Jamaica right now, that's not anywhere near Vegas temps in summer. It's not like she's the only person in the world who could get on a private jet, go sing for a couple hours and go home, where I might add she has help with the kids. And I fail to see how lip syncing isn't exactly 'hard work' and neither is barely 60 or 70 shows a year when she has like 90 percent of the year off. Also I want to add again, she doesn't read the forum, she probably doesn't even remember it exists. And no one from her 'team' bothers to read it either. She doesn't care what they say and it's obvious they don't either because if they actually listened to what we say then things might change but they haven't and aren't going to. zuv Posted January 30, 2012 at 02:18 AM Posted January 30, 2012 at 02:18 AM love the interview, she's so right about most people being more "inside" and not showing how excited they are. dmeredith Posted January 30, 2012 at 02:29 AM Posted January 30, 2012 at 02:29 AM Regardless of what happened with THLAL in Jamaica, I still admire and respect Celine. We all have days where things just don't go the right way, and we wish that we could just start over. I don't know what went on "behind the scenes", and I don't want to judge Celine without knowing all the facts. As for other singers like Barbra Streisand etc., they are wonderful also. I've always liked Barbra, but she hasn't performed as frequently as Celine. I'm sure that her fans, throughout the years would've liked to have seen her perform many concerts all over the world, but she didn't. She was always very selective with her concerts, because she suffered from stage fright. So, her fans didn't get what they wanted. Celine has been a trouper when it comes to performing. She's given us much more than what a lot of other performers give their fans. I just remember the words to "My Love", and I know what comes from her heart. Some might think that she's not thinking about her fans. Well, Celine is a human being like everyone else. She does care for her fans, but she can't please everyone all the time. Maybe some think that she should retire if she's not going to give 100% all the time. I work, and although I want to give 100% all of the time, I'm realistic in knowing that it's highly unlikely that it'll happen. So, should that mean that I should quit my job? No, it doesn't. What's realistic is that I just keep trying to do my best, regardless of whether it happens every day or not. Take it one day at a time. Some might judge, but nobody should without realizing that we are all imperfect. Until I've walked a mile in someone else's shoes, I try to be understanding because I don't know all the facts. There are many outside factors in life (beyond our control) that cause a sequence of events. I don't know what went on behind the scenes at Celine's concert, or what might have been happening with her family or the entourage of people that work for her. In my heart I am sure that Celine wanted the best for her audience. I'm sure that it upsets her when things don't go as they should. She just doesn't come out and tell us things that are best left unsaid. Over all, I think that Celine had a great show, and did an awesome job. Plus, the people of Jamaica enjoyed having her there. I've enjoyed my visits to Las Vegas to see Celine, and I look forward to going to more shows in the near future. I was at her New Year's Eve show and she was absolutely wonderful!!! Her voice was in tip top shape. She was happy and full of energy!!! It was Celine at her absolute best!!!!! Celine is still #1 in my heart!!! Quote
