Javito Posted February 3, 2012 at 08:46 PM Posted February 3, 2012 at 08:46 PM (edited) And iTunes has already sent an email exclusively announcing the new Madonna album, anticipating the digital edition with BONUS songs (read the 3-4 Vegas covers if Céline/René had some 2012 vision here). Imagine Celine did that with the lead single of her upcoming album. Imagine the album becomes a BIG success. If that happens, people will buy the album, will listen again to Celine Dion, and WILL WANT HER TO DO A WORLD TOUR. I imagine one of the reasons why they probably don't have much expectations from this album is, I'm sure, the contract with Caesar's Palace. She is forced to stay there for the next 4 or 5 years, so any kind of world tour would be very very difficult to do. The promotional tour for this album is probably going to be very restricted as well. Don't you guys understand that she has a CONTRACT with Caesar's Palace?? With all its consequences!! Yes Carlos, a new contract with CP with all its consequences... but then all what they said back in 2010 about less shows and more time for other projects? That has been a big FAKE then And I don't agree with mixing the Vegas thing with the fact of recording new music. What is stopping her from recording all new songs and putting the CD in the market, no matter what kind of promotion she can do for the albums? Nothing. I can take that she has little time, I can admit that she wants of course dedicate that free time to her family. But what prevents her from releasing albums for her fans, even if she can't do any promotion for them? Nothing. But at least we would have something NEW to enjoy from her. That's better than nothing, like we've had during 5 years. Also, if they doesn't care at all about hits and charts anymore, what's the problem then? Just enter the studio with a regular basis (like she used to do before), record the album, and give it to the fans. The rest (promotion, singles, videos and all that), we're used to it. We know we'll maybe get nothing of it. The charts will do its work, maybe the album is successful, maybe not. But at least we would have new music in our hands with new material from her. EDIT: may I bring the example of Enya, an artist who barely does 0 promotion to her albums in TV and every album she releases is a major hit with millionaire sells in the Warner Music catalogue of the year. pat200 Posted February 3, 2012 at 11:39 PM Posted February 3, 2012 at 11:39 PM Oh for God's sake she doesnt need to promote the album if she doesnt want to but at least release one with new material. No excuse there whatsoever. She wouldnt get burnt out if she didnt sing the same exact songs 931 times in the last 9 years!! of course you would get burnt out when all u do is routine routine routine. thats why you mix it up! but singing the same 15 songs every single time she hits the stage is boring for her. Not to mention the effort and stress put in learning exactly how to lipsynch what part of what song and where exactly. That i think is more difficult than singing the song live tbh. You have to be super focused not to mess up! so that is another reason to be burnt out. Streisand is 180 years old and she still releases quality albums (granted her voice isnt as it used to be). Madonna is as old as the dinosaurs and yet she keeps releasing material, she takes 3 years to do so but at least all of it is new. Mariah was almost recording while she was giving birth. Those are people who care for their art and their fans! No excuses whatsoever. Some people need to get real a bit. Stop trying to make excuses for her. She is the second richest female singer of all time, has all the money she wants, has an amazing family, surrounded by love. Has it all basically. If she doesnt care about her career, stop doing those half lipped vegas concerts that are bad to her voice and just record albums every year or two in one week, release them for the fans to be satisfied. If there are actually fans who are satisfied with hearing the same exact songs lipped from now till forever, then those fans are not being realistic because then i would watch the dvd it would be the same. the relationship some seem to have with celine is just unhealthy. She is not your sister, mother, girlfriend or whatever. She doesn't know you exist even if she met you, she only cares to give you the illusion she does because that will make you shell out the bucks. Harsh, but thats the reality. And that is coming from someone who adores her instrument and has the highest respect for Celine the family woman, but if she doesnt care about us the fans then Celine the singer loses credibility there.
Peppercorn1991 Posted February 3, 2012 at 11:41 PM Posted February 3, 2012 at 11:41 PM I had a thought earlier: Just wondered if the cause of an album full of the vegas songs is because they dont want to change the vegas show in anyway yet because its still new? if she has all ne songs they would have to include them somewhere....maybe its too much trouble nowadays? Btw i love Rene but add another to the list of people who think Rene should retire, sorry Rene your a lovely man kev x
ferjaacu Posted February 3, 2012 at 11:57 PM Posted February 3, 2012 at 11:57 PM (edited) It's never the same to have a live performance of a song and to have it recorded in studio. Why did they release all of the albums if many of their songs would be later performed live?? Why do you want a new studio album AND a world tour with those songs being performed?? They could go and record the live performances of the new songs (new not meant only original, but new for her to sing them) without launching a new studio album. Record them live and period. But it is different. I love both performances, live and studio. And yes, that'd give them even more money.Maybe many of you don't like the covers she sings in Vegas, but many others do. So, who's opinion is more important?? Who should be pleased better?? The one that bought all of her CD's and DVD's and went to every single concert she gave?? What about someone that don't have enough money to buy anything Celine. Is he less of a fan because of that? Does his opinion matter?? Wouldn't that be unfair too?? I know I'm maybe being a bit extremist, but it's just to point out how selfish some people can be sometimes. And how many things we can say just because "everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and everyone has the right to express them" without really think what that means. Without trying to find a balance, fairness. I'm not judging the person who said this, but his action. I know I'm gonna love some songs, and not too much others in the new album, just like with the rest. But as long as her voice is the one singing them, I'm gonna be thrilled. Edit:Patrick: Do you really think Madonna, Barbra, Mariah care about their fans?? lol. Then you're not being realistic. They only care their fans to buy all of her CD's and go to their concerts, just like Celine. Not because Madonna is releasing new albums every 3 years means she's doing it for the fans. And she's the one on the top of that list you mentioned. Besides, they are different kind of artists, different persons. couldawouldashoulda Posted February 4, 2012 at 02:30 AM Posted February 4, 2012 at 02:30 AM To the people who are asking why Celine doesn't just record an album for the fans...the answer is what was posted a few pages earlier. Artists don't make money from recording albums. Therefore Celine doesn't record albums often. Artists *do* make money from performing live and Celine certainly makes TONS of money doing the Vegas performances while "singing" all of her old material. There is no need for her to record an album to perform live. I understand that some people are only just now coming to the realization that Celine doesn't actually care about the fans, she cares about her (very large) family. This is a job to her and nothing else. I came to that realization about 7-8 years ago and came to terms with it. For those of you only now realizing it, I feel for you, cause I remember how tough it was. But it is a fact. Celine's career is about her family...not the fans. She and her team know that the fans will buy everything that they release regardless of what they put out.

Celine can certainly do the same. But a somewhat "new" album in over 5 years, that's like not thinking about the fans.

LifeIsADream Posted February 4, 2012 at 07:18 AM Posted February 4, 2012 at 07:18 AM From all of the rumours and gossip that have been flying about for the past 2 years I have a pretty strong feeling that this album is going to have a strong pop influence, along with the other songs that we know are going to be on it. Celine's working with some of the best pop producers in the business, and I think we're going to see something that is a hybrid of One Heart and Taking Chances, with a few Falling Into You types of songs on it. To venture away from the actual album for a moment, it is important to remember how many shows Celine does in Vegas. This is not nearly the dramatically reduced schedule that had been proposed (some 50 shows per year!) When she's singing 3, 4, and 5 nights a week (which is a long, physically draining shift,) then coming home to breast feed two babies at least half a dozen times a day, check in with RC, Rene, her sister and attempt to get 8 hours of sleep!!! My god, I really don't know how she does it. I sure couldn't. Rihanna can tour constantly and put out an album every year because she's 23, doesn't have kids or a spouse, and is at a point in her life where she wants to and is able to only work and do nothing else. That's fine and that's great for her. Celine was at that point in the 90's, but she's got 3 kids now and she's seen the world a couple of times. She'll have an album for us when she's able to. I know Celine's fans have a ton of love in their hearts and are full of support for her, so the new album will be happily and gratefully received when it is available. "Laugh and cry, live and die.....life is a dream we are dreaming...Day by day, I find my way, look for the soul and the meaning...Then you look at me and I always see what I have been searching for....I'm lost as can be then you look at me, and I am not lost anymore..."
Angel2006 Posted February 4, 2012 at 08:14 AM Posted February 4, 2012 at 08:14 AM I was thinking today. Alot of the time we complain that we arn't getting an album yet, but Celine has released alot more albums then other artists that have been in the business for the same time as Celine. Madonna has only released 12 or 13 albums in her 30 year career. Celine on the other hand has released 26 albums in her career. That's not counting single records, duets on other artists albums, and concert dvds. I would say that's pretty good and alot for other artists to live up to. WOW! It was just a moment in my day that i thought, I'm really happy to be a Celine fan!
Bell Posted February 4, 2012 at 09:53 AM Posted February 4, 2012 at 09:53 AM You're right, Angel2006, but I am one of those who are starting to think that Celine is not that interested in her career anymore. Anyway, I still hope we'll get a decent album this spring. I'm almost excited about it. 16 YEARS A FORUM MEMBER
Celine Fan 77 Posted February 4, 2012 at 10:01 AM Posted February 4, 2012 at 10:01 AM I think we should take this the following way: As all of us know, artists grow during their careers. Every time they release a new album, their image changes. In Celine's case, she's currently doing the Las Vegas show, which is about glamour and the type of songs like Mr. Paganini, Goldfinger... etc. That means a "classic" period, right now she is giving the image of a "classic and glamourous singer". Then, the kind of music contained in the upcoming album has to fit that image, don't you think so? Like 2007, with TC, she gave a more rock image, not only with the album but also with the type of shows she performed during the tour, so she is still evolving as an artist, at least from my point of view. Tournée Européenne in Paris (December 1, 2013) Céline Dion Live 2016 in Antwerp (June 20, 2016) Céline Dion Live 2017 in Birmingham (July 27, 2017) Céline Dion à Paris (September 12, 2026)

~Christian~ Posted February 4, 2012 at 11:32 AM Posted February 4, 2012 at 11:32 AM I have decided not to believe this for now. This is too much to take for me as a fan of THE VOICE.She can have that glamorous/retro image if she want to, but with new jazzy and classy material. Her voice is in a better shape than ever, she clearly has that flow when it comes to jazz, she has the ability to do a great brand new album. And this is what I want.
browseceline Posted February 4, 2012 at 11:35 AM Posted February 4, 2012 at 11:35 AM Too bad nowadays she has to resort working with crap artists, like M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj to get airplay. ''Give Me All Your Luvin'' is literally a carbon copy of Avril Lavigne's crappy song ''Girlfriend'' (a song that was released 5 years ago lol!). No .. try singing the refrain of "Bohemian Like you" along with the refrain of Madonna's new song... see? <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hl2XkxnYljg" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
browseceline Posted February 4, 2012 at 11:39 AM Posted February 4, 2012 at 11:39 AM all in all all these opinions and statements confirm what we have been discussing for such a long time. Vegas is the moneymaker, and even though Celine might not love to sing each night the samesetlist over and over again, this is the way to make money and to please Sony. And it gives stability for her and her family. So she is quite okay with it. Beeing relevant in the charts is something Celine does not care for anymore. She wants to stay in Vegas for as long she wants to. She does not want a hitrecord anymore, she does not want to attract new audiences. She is okay with everything she already accomplished. Recording a new album is just part of the deal and so it seems, is not priority for her at all. In fact if she had the chance to decide she would stay in Vegas for the rest of her life and never ever release an album anymore. At least that is what I can conclude reading all of this.Such a shame! <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hl2XkxnYljg" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Rene said that Open Arms, At Seventeen and Ne Me Quitte Pas will be included, too, but now it is said that the album will include the Vegas covers and just two new songs. The new version of MHWGO is supposed to be one of the two new songs?

Don't try to confuse me Fernando... you won't succeed Yes, we don't know what's going to be in the CD, so that's why I LOVE the surprise factor of a full brand new album Have you forgotten the days when we rushed to the shop to buy the album because we didn't know what it would include and it had all new songs? Of course this no longuer exists since we have the Internet and we can preview all the songs before actually having the CD in our hands, but tell me what's the surprise if she sings live first the songs, and then we got them recorded in the studio for a CD? That's absurd. But I respect if you like that. And excuse me, but what you defend is not being contradictory, that's doing things the opposite way as they should be done Of course I would love her to do new things, but bringing first the songs live and then recording all them in the studio to give them in a CD months later that's just ridiculous. Also, who cares what CD's are for now today? Does Céline should even care, an artist who has recorded more than 30 albums? Maybe a new singer who's starting today shouldn't care about bringing their music in the form of an album, but not the case of Céline. She has more than 30 years of career behind. It's not because of introducing new material for her. It's for building a discography with new titles available and making them available for her fans. Yes, I'm a collector of physical music and I'm not ashamed to say that I still buy physical CD's and vinyls. I love to have them in my hands, touch them. I'm sure many people here also love to have them in their hands. Céline is IN that league. Would you stick to digital mp3 of live recordings from Céline from now on and eliminate the idea of having new studio albums? Perhaps you live in the digital "cloud", but not many fans. Like I say, Céline is not in that league. Having few sales of CD's shouldn't be a concern for her, other thing is that René or her are no longuer worried about recording albums anymore because they just don't want to. But not because sales are a problem for them. They're not fooling me Not always tho, RDMH, NW, IIC and WAWW were sung live first before they were recorded for cd And the most recent, At Seventeen! That's why I FEAR everytime she introduces live a new song for the very first time and its a sleeping pill that ends to be recorded in her next album Hope that "Lullaby" doesn't make into the new album at least! "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
ferjaacu Posted February 4, 2012 at 01:53 PM Posted February 4, 2012 at 01:53 PM (edited) Of course I remember those days, I still do it, I am a collector of physical things too. I love to have the CD's, to see the pictures, etc. And of course I also love the "surprise factor" you talked about, but it doesn't mean that it always need to be that way. I'm not saying I prefer things done the way they're doing it right now, just that I love to have the studio version AND the live version of the songs I like. And that's the same with many of the hardcore fans and fans in general. Who cares about what CD's are for??? They do, every single artist do. Maybe they were supposed to record this CD to promote the show but they couldn't do it before, and that's why they're recording some or all of the songs of the show like Carlos said (I think it was him). Of course, they could release the Live album with 2 or 3 new songs instead. Or maybe they're doing it because they really like those songs and want to have them recorded in studio. Or maybe because they don't really care about the songs she'll record. We don't really know, and we won't know wich songs are in the CD until it's release.
