my apologies. was just trying to point out some of the positives in the vegas announcement since some still aren't happy about it.

Anyway, like someone said a few posts ago, any Celine is better than no Celine. She could easily retire. We should be thankful she's not! I'm excited to head to Vegas, and I'm glad this show will be something different. On Ne Change Pas was amaazing with an orchestra at SLP.

I'm sort of excited to hear about the puppy and what she's been up to on break too. Ooo and the movie clips! Thanks Kerche, for the run through.

Another thing, we got to tell Celine and Rene our story personally and even asked the about the forum...neither of them had a clue about it, Celine even joked 'Should I join it'. I got it all on video (AMAZING) which I will be uploading tomorrow hopefully.

Of course, the correct answer is, "yes you should!" I hope you answered correctly.

But seriously, lots of artists interact directly with their fans online. How great would it be to hear from Celine what she's thinking about everything going on in her life?

Someone get that girl a twitter account!

I think realistically if Celine or her team checked this forum seriously I think a lot of things would have to be taken down for copyright, such as photo's from shows, mps, video's etc... I don't think it would be a good thing :ermm:

Wouldn't be the first time something like that happened, didn't Britney Spears have a fansite shut down for copyright? It was like bigges Britney site out there, Britney World or something... Also Taylor Swift sued a bar for playing her music and not paying her for it. Several celebs have sued people for downloading their music for free.

that is exactly what I have been thinking... hope not! I love it here!

Celine said that she is on her 5th try and since 5 is her lucky number, perhaps it will work out this time. And she said that it's okay if they end up not having another child. She didn't say anything else about wanting to try more or give up.

So, if this try works out, she won't do Vegas: it's insane doing rehearsals only 1 month after the childbirth, and doing the shows when the baby is 4 months old. So I wonder why she announced Vegas now. :ermm: :hmm:

Economic crisis? :ermm:

:sofunny:

Yea, well yea, haha, I'm partly there especially with the Taking Cash tour and Vegas, but I still don't see why there's so little effort in album promoting and single releases if that's the case.

I like doing what I don't want to do, and the contrary of what I say CHECKED

Celine Dion

 When did she say that? I didn't know that, but it made me feel uncomfortable :ermm:

Am I the only one sad other this "Celine & Big band" thing?

I find it extremely old and odd.

I'd rather see her doing Dragone again, even if not as big as it was. : (

It's sounding cheap to me : (

Not cheap, but as if Céline was a Barbra Streisand clon, only that she is 41 and Babra is 67

After the Vegas confirmation, the Oprah "A Song For You" performance, and now this "little" surprise for a show with "orchestrations and hollywood movies tribute"... please forgive me, but I don't understand nothing at all   Nor when she says "the best is yet to come", either when René says she will be again the #1 singer wordwide

Yeah, but... WHEN?

I love how Céline cares and always care to please her fans, anytime and everywhere, but have they ever stopped to ask fans what they would like to see/hear her do? Just for information, only to know our opinions. I mean that doesn't hurt, does it?

There's a strong discrepance here, a huge gap between what they think we love and what we are expecting to get

And I would add: what we DO like.

Seven years ago this big band thing would had been swell. Right on. And I was wishing and hoping for Céline doin more evergreens in jazzy or big band mode, back then! But a lot change in seven years, the music industry for example. When it comes to trends, there's those who sets them, those who ride the wave and those who desperetly tries to follow, always a bit too late always a step behind. Maybe Céline couldn't had set the trend back then but she could surely ride the wave, that was what I was hoping for. And indeed Fever, Nature Boy and At Last in the Vegas show was swell, but to go more all the way would had been fab.

It is somewhat awkward that she picks this up now. It's not even "trying to follow" the trend anymore, because the trend is way over. I feel not so good wibes about this, but hey I hope I am wrong.

What would be good career wise and popular wise right now would be to ride the wave of the dance music trend. Or try to bring it one step further and set another tone to it by mixing dance with more experimental fusion kind of work, that would be a dream. :thumbsup2:

I know the song 'belive' was successful, but not such much to a younger audience. It was usually on Litefm stations. At least around here. It could have been different elsewhere.

I never remember her saying that about the audience...but when I went, someone was literally sleeping. In the begining when they did the thing with the mirror and the audience while you're waiting for Celine, they kept zooming in on the guy. haha.

I find your statement about Believe a bit odd, and I would like to say that it was just the opposite. Cher got tremendous popularity around that time, especially in the younger audience. She set a tone, which wave of success she rode for a long time after that, with hit after hit played on MTV all the time.

A "Believe boost" for Céline would be simply wonderful. And now is actually the right time. They couldn't have planned the amount of attention she's getting right now. She's in the spot light folks, for no obvious reasons. Yes, she's doin appearences here and there but so does many other stars whose lime light she without effort steals. People are actually somewhat curious about her at this state, and this curiosity would be not so tactic to go wasted. I mean, people have been so tired of everything about her for a very long time. Now they're looking at her, ready without knowing it, to see her in new light. Just as they were in the start of the TC era, however promised change and lured by swell tracks like TC and TJTWIM only to be fed with Alone, people let it go.

Now we're there again, suprisingly. All eyes on her. Will the Céline team make a move?

I wouldn't want to see things taken down either. I love the exclusives we get here. I don't know any celeb other than Keith Urban has said and he doesn't care if he's fans download his music for free online.

but if Celine really reads this forum, she will see what our different opinions are, what we like and what we don't like. We are a huge fanbase here, she can't deny that! And she cares about her fans so much so to know what the fans like or want, she would do good looking here sometime!

I corrected myself. It was big in '99. If something like that were played on the radio now though, it would be laughed at. It was sort of cheesey pop. I have a feeling if she had something more up-tempo it might be something along those lines. If she had a good writer/producer though, someone who works with artists that are currently popular on the radio, it could catch some people's attention. But I still don't think she'd get rid of the ballad singer image. Heck, I thought TC was a great song, and I thought it would be a hit with younger audiences...but it really wasn't. I heard Z100 (new york's pop station) play it maybe once or twice...and only when they were giving away tickets. Anyway my main point in all that blabbering was that ASFY was for the fans. She wasn't trying to change people's minds about her by singing something that wasn't a ballad, or singing an old hit that only casual fans would enjoy hearing for the 100th time. And even if she sang something up-tempo it wouldn't have changed anyone's mind because only fans will be watching since the show is all about Celine. I think ASFY was a good choice.

Fred - you nailed it. Exactly how I see it too.

And with all the positive press she has received in the last few weeks, people ARE curious to see what she will do next... and performing A Song For You and announcing a Vegas Big Band with Movie songs and her old hits would not necessarily make people very curious... or show them that she's capable of doing something a little different and creative...

I think Celine has a lot more to offer, but unfortunately it seems that it won't happen with this next project yet again...

Trying not to be too negative but I'm really not impressed to be honnest. Can't hide it!

at least one thing we can be sure of, in terms of hollywoodmovies, Then You Look at Me is a great example of a big orchestral song, so she would probably do that song, as well as beauty and the beast and my heart will go on, although with a big orchestra it gives more glamour to that song too! What about Because you loved me in orchestral version...don't know.. Edited by browseceline

Look up on YouTube, Celine singing BYLM at the Oscars....it's with a full orchestra and it's gorgeous.

She even said herself a few years ago (in her book) that she wanted to do an unplugged show. This isn't quite unplugged but we know that when it comes to Celine she doesn't do things half way. Next year all we will hear is how great her new Vegas show is and how overly concerned people were. Don't you think she is SICK of doing the same kind of show? I bet Celine secretly HATES singing all her ballads in the same format over, and over and over and over and OVER again. Let's take a deep breath!

Even though I've avoided looking at the major spoilers I accidently saw that she is going back to Vegas and I for one am glad, Why? Because it gives me a fan who never had the chance to see her before in Vegas a chance to see her. It aslo gives the other fans who didn't see her a chance. I wasn't one of the lucky people who got to go or even got to go mulitple times in a row or year after year. I'm going to start saving my money as soon as I get a job so I can hopefully make the trip one day and see her. Edited by Belle Céline

Ok this has been interresting

First about my bedtime :sofunny: (on page 20 I think) I'm not on same timezone as Canada or USA, so when it's afternoon in Canada, it's very close to my bed time. I need my beautysleep ;) btw, now it's 18:51 or 6:51 pm here in Iceland :P

second: thank you guys for sharing a bit, but not to much about Oprah :) I hope I can download Oprah on Feb. 11th :-D can't wait!

Third: Love that what she decided to sing on the show. I love to hear her sing something different, so yay for Céline

Fourth: I'm totally planning a trip to Las Vegas with another forum member JessCC :-D

Fifth: I'm not sure about the orchestra thingy, it's for old entertainers :giggle: but I'm sure they wont do anything unless it's perfect. I think she wants to do it so that she can change the program more often

Sixth: love you all but ohhhh be positive :)

Wow is all I can say! Thanks so much for the info and pictures you guys! I can't wait to see the show! And I have to start saving as well :)

I couldn't agree more...

Everything she does is perfect (tour, AND, every project)...no mistake in that...she wouldn't agree to doing anything less successful...

Regarding my seat, my party & I and these 3 other women were the 1st in line @ approx 8:30am (the ladies were after us) The "A-show" taping hasn't started, and we were told there were 6 spots for us to immediately fill, so 1 person would be the odd one out..it was me in this case but my friend's mom & family friend stayed behind while I was able to attend the 1st taping with my friend.

We got ushered in and went throught security & got our purses/bags checked. They remove all cellphones, cameras, pens & any sheets of paper (to prevent from writing during the taping) and bagged them up for pick up after the show.

Then off we go & sat in remaining empty seats throughout the audience.

Because we had left the lineup to sit in the "A-show" taping, we were still considered first ppl in the lineup because of our #s that we get with our contract release forms. After the 1st taping my friend & I joined the rest of the "B-show" ppl who were in waiting at an area upstairs to the entrance. So we weren't sure how calling & seating would work inside the studio & naturally the 3 ladies & my party....we assumed we'd be one of the 1st people seated.

After a million years, we started to get seated around 12:30pm but they called out a bunch of random parties by their full names registered. They probably called a good 20 groups before they called everyone with sheet #s 1-50 (and then all remaining #s up to 200-something) to head inside. My friend's mom was a bit unhappy as when her & the family-friend stood in line & skipping the 1st taping......the good folks of Oprah had ensured us really good seats. Except by the time we got called, the front half of the floor seats were full and they started filling the risers. Needless to say we were disappointed because the 3 ladies we were with had been called first and they sat right smacked in the middle on the front row surrounding Oprah's circular stage - and here we were....sitting on the risers in the back!!!

We were told that all of the "biggest fans" who wrote in and were chosen had the opportunity to sit the closest to the front floor seats. My friend's mom went looking for the show producers to say our party were promised good seats, but since this happened the same time when the seats were 80% full...they could only give us 1 great floor seat which ended up being me!! My friend and her mom really wanted me to get one of the best seats, it was very selfless!!

I got ushered by the primary show producer lady, close to the very front and sat me down @ the last seat of the left stage walkway! Little did I know that seat was on the walkway that Celine came down on....so she was going to walk past me while heading to the round stage!!! I got soooo excited and was jump-clapping to cheer on our woman & ended up blocking part of Celine's path - which I quickly moved back cause Celine looked at me! Hahaha

So it's going to be interesting seeing how my reaction looks like on tv! LOL My seat was overall....amazing :) so I am very grateful to my friend & her mom!!!! In the studio, it was really cold with blowing wind....so we were all shivering while watching the taping. Guess it was to keep us awake?! Hahaha

Anyhow that's my story! :) be on the lookout for an Asian girl in turquoise top & gray pants! Hehe

lol we were first in line? we came around 9 tho, but there was no one there. but yea it was odd because they had ensured the first come first serve get best seats, so i didnt really understand what was happening. we got stuck in the back, but we still had a great time. just being there is something :) im just dissapointed they didnt have any fan interactions in the audience or any questions, or our responses to the movie, i think that would have been interesting since its celine's fans around the world. they definately should have skyped more people around the world too.

But thats a bit weird regarding the forum.... as Patrick and Michel knew/heard about it when I meet them in Vegas, and I was also told that Rene was aware of the forum also.... hmmmm strange.

Me too. I was introduced to Rene as administrator of the forum when we met personally. I'm surprised he didn't remember it. Cause he usually has very good memories. And I'm almost sure others had told them about the forum before too.

I hope they will remember the forum this time.

Maybe Rene remembered this forum and forgot u :sofunny:

That's all I want. :whistling: Actually he remembered me when he saw me in Beijing.

Hey everyone.

I was by the Celine's hotel in December/09 waiting to see her. I saw her brother with Charlie leaving the hotel and I started to make a video. He was smiling to me when he saw my camera and he yelled at me: "No video, no video". I immediatelly stopped and asked why? I said I'm just a fan, I'm doing this for myself. and he said: "everyone here says that they are fans but every single day there're different videos on the internet.

Personnaly I believe they know what's going on the web.

Totally agree with everything you said about the "trends" Fred. For whatever reason Celine / Sony always seem to be that little bit behind everyone else.

But when they do get it right (Taking Chances) they seem to lose all faith and then stick with the safe options, such as Alone which you mentioned, which puts us back to square one.

But yeah, everyone is looking at Celine again now and interested in her. Do Sony have a storming single up their sleeves ready to go?

I doubt it.

No what I was saying was if someone took video and he didn't want it to be taken and they stopped then they should have deleted the video. If he didn't want it taken he probably doesn't want what was taken saved.
