I remember when ONCP her french greatest hits got released, the US got a different version than france and germany. So im just going ot wait and see what the track list is for the US before I decide whether or not I like it. I am happy about the new song and getting the new version of my love.

people, the album is already complete, the artwork, the tracklisting etc... let's just stop wishing for impossible things now. as a huge fan, i must admit i was so disappointed when i first learned of the tracklisting. but i remember when i bought LeAnn Rime's "Best Of" album, as a casual fan, i loved that compilation! i don't have any of her studio albums, and haven't heard of her unreleased songs either. but for a casual fan as myself, it's a decent Best Of album, and i'm pretty sure a lot of her fans were disappointed as well, as their favorite songs were not included in the album.

 

for My Love: Essential Collection, yes it is probably the most complete collection of her hits (at least in english language). some people want to have a copy of "The Prayer", but because this song belongs to "These are Special Times" and "TCSV1" (which is already OOP here in the Philippines), how can they have that song? this is their chance to have it!

 

 

CelinesDIVO5 have a point here. let's stop dissing this release. it's already done, we have the tracklisting, we've seen the cover, and we all know the release date. so i guess we should stop complaining now and make ANOTHER wish list. it's completely nonsense this time.

Actually, the release of this compilation is just a matter of consequence.

 

To me, they continue the sell out of her material which has started with the current tour.

The tour has the same old arrangements, the same old playback tapes she uses for centuries.

 

She seems to be not really interested in any artistic development. Her current album was a good start, a good direction for her, but they let down that project unbelievably fast.

Why? Because the album sales were ok, but far away from their expectations.

 

It was supposed to be her big comeback to the market, as it says on her homepage it was meant to be "the album that everybody is talking about".

Was this the case? Not really.

The promotion they did for that album was horrible. She was everywhere, she did Oprah, but Oprah was the perfect example why the new album did not work.

What she did at Oprah was a short Vegas with two new songs. People are tired of hearing this old s***t.

It was just the same old stuff she did in Vegas, in the same versions, same playback tapes, same as she did at her current tour.

 

Artistic development? Are you kidding?

Nowhere to be found.

 

Now we have that "Essential Collection" - the tracklisting is not that bad, I think. What people where expecting here was way to adventerous. It´s ok I think.

 

But what stands out for by looking at the tracklist is the fact that she is singing EVERYTHING Rene thinks she should sing because it might be selling.

Don´t you think it is kinda weired to have a backcatalogue with power ballads, retro rock, cheesy dance pop, bouncy dance pop, soul (well, kinda) and so on...

Her voice is and was ace, but some of the songs are - carefully said - very very very cheesy (one heart, you and i)......

 

If I look back upon her latest projects I always come to the same conclusion:

 

Take a break, fire the old man (no need to work for the husband of Miss Dion), get down to what you really want to do, what you have passion for, get involved in your artistic decisions and go for it girl.

 

Throw away the old playback tapes (BURN THEM please), don´t bother if you can not hit these high notes every second day, your voice sounds warmer and better then ever, this overdoing the notes is so outdated anyways, sing what your voice allows you to sing, what you want to sing.

 

And then come back with a tour that deserves the name "Taking chances", without any lip synching (this is for Britney), with newly arranged songs, with passion, heart and soul.

This is a greatest hits album (or best known songs) for the NON Celine fans!! Why don't people get that?

 

yeah it's a non fan album, but sony gave us false hope by asking what we, and i believe we are fans here, wanted in a best off cd. not a greatest hits cd

 

I personally don't agree about releasing this album now. They should have waited until Celine goes on a break and release a few more singles from Taking Chances - like Fade Away!! But no... I suspect that by the end of 2009/beginning 2010, we will get the Collectors' Version 2 which will include the Japanese song, I Surrender, If I Can Dream (with Elvis - if Sony gets the rights), and other rare songs. That's where the rare songs belong! Not on a best of...

 

yeah I totally agree on this! they killed TC with waiting so long for EOM to be released and made sure it was dead when they threw Alone in the airwaves

 

Oke for the sake of it, this would be a great essential collection (deleting all the songs from ATW/TCV1 and repeated songs ) and totally worth buying :

The differance will by only in the U.S. and Canadian certifications, because RIAA and CRIA counts each disc separately.

But the Soundscan will count it as 1 disc in both countries.

 

In other words the 2CD album can sell 500,000 copies in the U.S. and be certified Platinum (1,000,000).

I would better say its a radio singles collection I bet Sony team don't even know other Céline songs than that. They probably don't remember what other songs are included in the album where LCMM appears, what songs accompanied TPOL in TCOML album... and so on. Maybe even Céline doesn't remember the tracklist of her old albums

 

I can see their faces if we ask them now about Nothing Broken But My Heart, Unison remix, I Feel Too Much, Little Bit Of Love, I remember L.A... WHAAAT? Are you talking about Céline songs? Did she ever recorded those ones? I thought there were only TPOL, BYLM and then came MHWGO... till today!! $~?!

That rocks! Great tracklist and this would show the word that Céline Dion has more career behind MHWGO and TPOL. Your tracklist would definetly be more appealing than the one offered by Sony... But with the current collection, it would only confirm that Céline only knows to offer the same repertoire after 10 years

Like 1CD version will debut at #3 and 2CD version at #24? That would be very stupid.
