will the sales count as one album?

Yes.
The differance will by only in the U.S. and Canadian certifications, because RIAA and CRIA counts each disc separately.
But the Soundscan will count it as 1 disc in both countries.

In other words the 2CD album can sell 500,000 copies in the U.S. and be certified Platinum (1,000,000).

But on the other hand, the title is slightly different for 1CD and 2CD version. I wonder if it will chart as two different releases?
Like 1CD version will debut at #3 and 2CD version at #24? That would be very stupid.

I hope that one day Sony will release a Dance Best Of.... with all the dance and club remixes. And with a few new dance tracks!! That would show a different side of Céline... :bananadance:

What is so hard about putting unreleased songs onto the album to make us want to buy it? Honestly, I bet they are going to wait until she dies, and then we will see all of these albums entitled "Unreleased Celine Dion Songs" and such, with all of the songs they could've released now. I'm sick of them catering to the casual fan like her die-hard fans don't matter. Her "casual fans" will buy All The Way(and probably this collection, too) and maybe buy a ticket to one concert. We are the ones buying every release of hers(up until now, for me at least), buying everything with her name on it, and supporting all of the crap Sony throws at us, whether it be stupid re-releases or whatever. Why aren't we being catered to? Do we need to become Celine's personal servents before they will finally give us something good?

It wasn't that hard to add unreleased songs to make it worth buying, but once again, Sony messed up. So Sony can go screw themselves, because i'm not buying this album, and I hope it flops hard. I bet Celine won't even know about this album until a couple days before she has to start her "promotion"(which will most likely be her babbling for hours about Rene-Charles and how wonderful life is and how she has nothing to prove, singing more of her stale greatest hits, and doing the new version of My Love). She probably thought she was re-recording My Love for the AWTBI single. The only reason I would buy this album is if they are going to have new, unreleased photos for the booklet, or maybe even a NEW photoshoot. Otherwise, this album can just go screw itself. I'll download the two new songs and be done with it.

Sorry if people think my post is too harsh, but i'm just extremly mad at stupid Sony.

Actually, the release of this compilation is just a matter of consequence.

To me, they continue the sell out of her material which has started with the current tour.
The tour has the same old arrangements, the same old playback tapes she uses for centuries.

She seems to be not really interested in any artistic development. Her current album was a good start, a good direction for her, but they let down that project unbelievably fast.
Why? Because the album sales were ok, but far away from their expectations.

It was supposed to be her big comeback to the market, as it says on her homepage it was meant to be "the album that everybody is talking about".
Was this the case? Not really.
The promotion they did for that album was horrible. She was everywhere, she did Oprah, but Oprah was the perfect example why the new album did not work.
What she did at Oprah was a short Vegas with two new songs. People are tired of hearing this old s***t.
It was just the same old stuff she did in Vegas, in the same versions, same playback tapes, same as she did at her current tour.

Artistic development? Are you kidding?
Nowhere to be found.

Now we have that "Essential Collection" - the tracklisting is not that bad, I think. What people where expecting here was way to adventerous. It´s ok I think.

But what stands out for by looking at the tracklist is the fact that she is singing EVERYTHING Rene thinks she should sing because it might be selling.
Don´t you think it is kinda weired to have a backcatalogue with power ballads, retro rock, cheesy dance pop, bouncy dance pop, soul (well, kinda) and so on...
Her voice is and was ace, but some of the songs are - carefully said - very very very cheesy (one heart, you and i)......

If I look back upon her latest projects I always come to the same conclusion:

Take a break, fire the old man (no need to work for the husband of Miss Dion), get down to what you really want to do, what you have passion for, get involved in your artistic decisions and go for it girl.

Throw away the old playback tapes (BURN THEM please), don´t bother if you can not hit these high notes every second day, your voice sounds warmer and better then ever, this overdoing the notes is so outdated anyways, sing what your voice allows you to sing, what you want to sing.

And then come back with a tour that deserves the name "Taking chances", without any lip synching (this is for Britney), with newly arranged songs, with passion, heart and soul.

I say that too.This was perfectly described and many of us would like to wake up one day and see all this,but i think that Céline would be offended somehow because she really loves Rene,so hardly like you already know,so it would be in vain.Then i wouldn't do anything to hurt her,i mean if she could ever see this,maybe she would do sth to change,but she would be offended because she trusts him completely what is normal.Besides all,he's her husband.. :shrug:

I think we need another "new day" waiting 2 years or more if they need (celine and her old team). I am totally agree with MartinMunic. The choice of songs is good for a GH but it´s more of the same. Talking about the tour can you imagine a concert with I cant fight the feeling, Thats just the woman in me, I got the music in me... as she sang in some places, the concept of the taking chances tour is completly diferent. I'm going to add my name to the "not buying this CD" list. I MIGHT download the new song but to be honest, Celine is stale and old at this point. I'm incredibly disappointed and hope she takes a break for a looooooooooooooong time. I certainly plan on taking a break from her. I'm seeing her in concert in NYC on the 15th and then I shall say good-bye for awhile. I just hope she comes back fresh and interesting and actually SINGING on her tours.

So greedy of you, y'all are worse than Reney! We got 2 decent album last year, we are getting a CD/DVD of the tour next year. This is just another ordinary release from the house of Sony, nothing more.

Céline has now her own focus with the Callas movie and bless her for that. Don't she dare to release any new album cuzz she has other things to concentrate on. Things she actually enjoys more doing like family or following her dreams.

What they could do is end up making the new tracks "Album Only" on download sites such as iTunes, Amazon.com, etc. so you'd *have* to buy the whole thing. That would be pretty sneaky.

There are two versions being released. One with a single cd and one with two cds. The $22 one is obviously for the double why the $13 one is obviously for the single.

I gotta say that it's a pretty good tracklist except for 2 or 3 songs which just don't have their places on a greatest hits but I won't buy it because there's no point of buying it for just one new song. I'm gonna download illegally the new song and gonna make cd myself and then i'm gonna save 20 euros to buy an other of another artist who deserve more.
