Taking Chances Posted September 4, 2008 at 08:18 PM Posted September 4, 2008 at 08:18 PM BTW they included all radio single songs so their tracklist makes sense That's actually so predictable, and it also brings up the fact that Sony don't care about what we think. In fact, that pretty much says it all. This thread, posting out own tracklist for Sony to see, was a complete lie. Javito Posted September 4, 2008 at 08:19 PM Posted September 4, 2008 at 08:19 PM (edited) Horrible. Disappointing. Terrible. Effortless. That is this tracklist. They would have re-released again All The Way for 2nd time in the year and it would have been a better album And I feel cheated and fooled. I never believed that thread where it was said that "Sony want to know what do we think" but I though that a new door was opening for us with Sony. This proves the contrary and shows one thing that is clear since 2002: the more we demand, the more new ideas we give, the worst we get. Don't ask why. Its as if Céline was damned for Sony people . How can we describe this tracklist? Looks like a tracklist more proper for a singer who is retiring, not for someone who pretends to show that is "taking chances" and someone who says "the best is yet to come" (I wonder WHEN? Will we see it in this life? ). More of the same. Again. And again, and again... Well at least we have to wait for the booklet. Maybe they use some of the unreleased photos of All The Way or ANDHC Ah no, I forgot: don't expect a new photoshoot for this album, but expect an amazing brand new collection of photos for her next parfume! it's so upsetting because Sony isn't listening to the fans at all. Look at how many people requested I Surrender Why they should listen to fans? Because we are the first to buy Céline's music and we give them money? My apologies, but I can't hold my thoughts on this. I respect that other fans can think that many comments are boring and repetitive here, but its natural. I can't stay impassive and look like if everything is brilliant when it just isn't. They are ruining her career, and it seems it won't stop until she flies away from Sony. Javito Posted September 4, 2008 at 08:38 PM Posted September 4, 2008 at 08:38 PM (edited) Because we are the first to buy Céline's music and we give them money? When they will ask it like for other artists(singles chosen by fans etc etc), we may be right but for now they didnt ask us anything as always This is how Darren began the first post written on this thread: Hi Guys I have not got alot of info. and cannot answer any questions on this topic, at the moment.....But I have been asked to find out what fans on this board, would like to be on a Greatest Hits album. Please have a really good think, before posting the 16 tracks, that you would like to see on this album!! So it seems like someone at Sony really wanted to know what fans would like to see on this now called "My Love: essential collection"?. Well, maybe they didn't asked us directly, but there was an intention, and a continued conversation between Darren and Sony according to his posts. But, yes, I understand what you say, in the end we don't have the right to complain about it because it was never something "official". We'll have to wait for that survey on her official website (which won't never happen while she's with Sony). That's one thing, but they just gave us the contrary. They give us the most predictable tracklist there could be. ...Whatever they would want from us, it was proven its been totally useless. Sadly, we don't have an email or a Sony headmaster near here to tell him at his face how stupid he is Edited September 4, 2008 at 08:53 PM by Gonzalillo Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

firebird Posted September 4, 2008 at 08:43 PM Posted September 4, 2008 at 08:43 PM Agreed. Although I really hope it's the full version as the one that appeard on ATW is nowhere near as good. This song does not benefit from being cut up. Very dissapointed...I wonder how much the 2 CD's will go for. She really needed a singles discography. I'm not sure I will be buying this All these song could be replaced by hits 09. Tell Him (& Barbara Steisand) This was not a hit04. Only One Road11. Seduces Me12. They locked it up in the embarrassment-drawer with the "I was young and didn't know better" sticker on it.I agree on "The Power Of The Dream" wrote about this above. It was an essential career moment."Is Nothing Sacred" is a delicate story. I think it belongs to Jim Steinman, right?! He will never ever give it to Celine. He can be so touchy + a poll? Bad idea. Cellphone Posted September 4, 2008 at 08:43 PM Posted September 4, 2008 at 08:43 PM Blaah. The tracklist is indeed boring. It probably is great for the non-Céline-fans... I just don't like it. Only ONE new song. I think I'm gonna have to reconsider buying this album... Most likely I'll be buying it though, coz I want the new song. Quote

You all say you didn't ATW 2 so why would they have stuck 10 'Greatest Hits'- (they would have had to chosen the ones on ATW as they are more or less her biggest casual fan (i.e more sales) favourites) and then a few new songs- we've had a new album less than a year ago so of course they are not going to release loads of new songs...sounds good to me and a great addition to our collection, with a new song and a rerecording of one our newest favourite song- they didn't have to do that. Taking Chances Posted September 4, 2008 at 09:00 PM Posted September 4, 2008 at 09:00 PM Even if this is good tracklist for non-Celine fans, or people who doesn't really own an album of hers, they could still present her music in a whole new way if they didn't release a bunch of old, non hit songs - like One Heart, or Alone. I Surrender will never become a single, but it will still be one of her best songs till this date. Keeping the old songs who aren't really necessary on this album will never give her any credibility for new people, and people won't play the album over and over again as they've heard the songs a thousand times before. The big hits like My Heart Will Go On, The Power of Love, it's All Coming Back, Because you Loved Me is a must, people love them, but An Essential Collection isn't a collection of Radio singles, it's supposed to be a collection of her best work. Now "Call The Man" is an amazing song, and it deserves to be there, but One Heart is a flop, and it releasing it again won't change that. Her older songs are fantastic, and I still love them, but Sony doesn't seem to care whatever a song was well received or not. They just don't care. My Love may be the only exception, if they had done the same thing with this album, a Greatest Hits would really be what they accomplished. Quote

Something that should have happened 6 years back already, when they completely ruined the promo of ANDHC. I agree 100%. This collection is so dissapointing, but not because of the songs they chose for the "essentials". I didn't care about that part, they could've filled the entire CD with MHWGO remixes and I would not have cared. What I cared about were the "rare gems" that were supposed to be put on. We heard about Let Me Be Your Soldier, I'll Be Your True Love, Will Never Go Away, There Comes A Time, and the re-recorded version of My Love. That would've been a sufficiant amount of new tracks to make me want to buy the album. Of course they could've put even more on, since Celine has so many unreleased songs, but that would've been fine. What we get is There Comes A Time(which, I swear to God if it's a ballad, I will kill Sony. I love her ballads but I want her doing more rock songs) and the re-recorded My Love. Oh, and the Japanese version of A World To Believe In for Japan, probably What is so hard about putting unreleased songs onto the album to make us want to buy it? Honestly, I bet they are going to wait until she dies, and then we will see all of these albums entitled "Unreleased Celine Dion Songs" and such, with all of the songs they could've released now. I'm sick of them catering to the casual fan like her die-hard fans don't matter. Her "casual fans" will buy All The Way(and probably this collection, too) and maybe buy a ticket to one concert. We are the ones buying every release of hers(up until now, for me at least), buying everything with her name on it, and supporting all of the crap Sony throws at us, whether it be stupid re-releases or whatever. Why aren't we being catered to? Do we need to become Celine's personal servents before they will finally give us something good? It wasn't that hard to add unreleased songs to make it worth buying, but once again, Sony messed up. So Sony can go screw themselves, because i'm not buying this album, and I hope it flops hard. I bet Celine won't even know about this album until a couple days before she has to start her "promotion"(which will most likely be her babbling for hours about Rene-Charles and how wonderful life is and how she has nothing to prove, singing more of her stale greatest hits, and doing the new version of My Love). She probably thought she was re-recording My Love for the AWTBI single. The only reason I would buy this album is if they are going to have new, unreleased photos for the booklet, or maybe even a NEW photoshoot. Otherwise, this album can just go screw itself. I'll download the two new songs and be done with it. Sorry if people think my post is too harsh, but i'm just extremly mad at stupid Sony. Quote http://i51.tinypic.com/2uf4r5f.png
Javito Posted September 4, 2008 at 09:05 PM Posted September 4, 2008 at 09:05 PM So it seems like someone at Sony really wanted to know what fans would like to see on this Do you think the tracklist matchs with yours requests? Mines? I don't remember if I wrote some and what did I wrote, but I'm sure I didn't want to see again the same songs she always performs in concerts or TV shows. Since they talked about an "essential" album, I though (as many here) that the door opened for a tracklist made of rare songs, less known Céline songs that weren't necessarily hits. But the tracklist released by Sony Germany its more of a Céline "greatest hits" album than for an "essential" album. So I think people would be more resigned now if this album would have been a "greatest hits" since the beggining: we would have expected a tracklist very similar to this one given today (me at least), and no major surprises. We all know what songs they would include in a Céline greatest hits. But for an essential album?. No way Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

Teodora Posted September 4, 2008 at 09:08 PM Posted September 4, 2008 at 09:08 PM I don't understand why you complain about the tracklist so much. You all posted wishlist with songs that were just as random as the official tracklist is. To please you all, they'd have to release an album with at least 50 songs... The only thing I wish it had is more new songs, but again, this is an "essential" album, not a new album, so I can't complain, I get one totally new song and the brilliant live version of My Love.I too wish that Sony would release a CD with all her previously un-released material, but that's never gonna happen. If they're unreleased it's because they weren't judged to be good enough to fit on any album by now, so why release something that was not good enough. I would totally love it, I'm sure there some hidden jewels in there, but the record company just sees those tracks as somethig that was not good enough. So I see no point in keep complaining about it. Any news of a version with a DVD included or anything like that? Wouldn't mind the full Taking Chances recording sessions right about now Does she have separate teams for the English and French releases? Her French releases are always better thought out, better in content and concept. Quote
