"Taking Chances" ALBUM on the charts

OK can everybody just KNOCK IT OFF??!!! The album is out for three freaking months! You know when TCOML was released it fell out of the top 10 quicker then waterfall!! But all of a sudden TT became a major hit and like 6 months after it release it became number one!!! Whether or not to call this album a flop can only be determined after a year.... when the tour is done! Now please stop discussion this useless discussion!!!!

Well, I do believe her Celine's World Tour is a great way to promote an album. And it is indeed a great idea for her to have a world tour since she has released 3 things: D'elles, TC and LILV-AND DVD. And within this year, the Live In Memphis will also be released. Cool! More Celine stuff to collect!!!!

Hmmmm.... As to Dhena's question, it should have been certified gold since it has reached more than 500,000 copies sold in U.S. alone. I wonder why RIAA hasn't given a recognition Celine's album deserve yet.

"Taking Chances" is at N° 4 this week in ARGENTINA, according to CAPIF (the official source). This is the "Ventas por mayor" ranking, which counts the sales to Music Stores, and not retail.

 

All in all, it's amazing that it's even in the top ten, since THERE WAS NO PROMOTION AT ALLL in Argentina, Celine has never been in latin America...EVER, the DVD hasn't been realeased, and no single is on the radios.

It was already announced on CelineDion.com earlier today.

I'm not surprised about Canadian position...it's done a strong way by the end of the year with three weeks at #1 and four at #2, and has been certified 4X Platinum! What do you want more? It's been sold enough, no? Nearly every Canadian home has got at least one of Celine's new releases, her album or her DVD!

 

Of course it can chart for a few months more and maybe get certified 5 or 6X Platinum, but we need to know that the good times of Taking Chances are behind us in this country (like US & UK in another way I think).

 

Moreover, we can enjoy Celine gets success back from other countries like Japan, with her first Top-10 hit in 13 years (!!!), and South Africa where she's been setting sales records for her Tour and where Taking Chances is planned to be 3X Platinum by the end of February!

 

I don't wanna read something like "I'm surprised by the sales of Taking Chances" anymore.

We must be happy with 2.4 M in 2 months.

Don't forget that many countries don't have seen Celine in real for at least 6 years. This tour will be her first one in 9 years! It's a very long time in a career of such a huge artist like Celine, and it's a lifetime for people around the world, cause she let them to love someone else, like Alicia, Avril, Christina or Britney!

 

Just hope the next singles and the Tour will help the album to reach 3.5 M

Matthias you're putting a lot of faith in the CBS special, yet it's over 3 weeks until that airs. Where will the album fall to in the US until then? #70? #80? Or perhaps even lower. It's ok saying the album will "shoot up" the charts when the special airs but personally I feel shooting from 100 - 63 or something similar isn't really all that impressive. Taking Chances is no-where in the US charts after just 2 months. I'm not comfortable waiting for the special to air to rely on sales, Sony should be being a bit more pro-active than that.

I reckon the album will have shipped 3m plus so far - which according to sony are sales as they retailers have paid for them.

yes....i say release Eyes on Me Remix for POP stations (younger people will like this) and Fade Away for AC. Album sales will rise. And more promotion!!! I see alicia keyes all over and her new album sucks. Falling was 10000% better than no one.

Kind of. But to think that Alicia Keys' album is halfway better in sales, I don't really feel the good in sales. Nevertheless, Celine's album will continue to sell until she beats Alicias album sales.
