Kyle_Jared Posted January 31, 2008 at 10:22 PM Posted January 31, 2008 at 10:22 PM OH boy, they really need a hit single or that special mighty damn fast or she'll be out of the top 100 albums before long....... Quote
CelionDion Posted January 31, 2008 at 11:00 PM Posted January 31, 2008 at 11:00 PM Celine almost sold the same amount this vs. last week.I'll get the figures later. HITS One Day sales - 50,000 gets you #1.This is projected next week --------------------------------------------------------------------------------ROCK BOTTOM: It's looking bad, folks. A week before the traditional post-Grammy and Valentine's Day sales spikes and discs by recognizable name acts like Jack Johnson, Lenny Kravitz and Sheryl Crow hit the street, next Tuesday's HITS Album chart will feature the lowest-selling #1 entry in modern history. Universal Motown's debuting prog-rockers Mars Volta will vie with J's Alicia Keys and Rhino's resilient Juno soundtrack for the top of the heap next week, with projected sales total of 50k give or take. Jive/ZLG rockers Bullet for My Valentine and the Grammy Nominees 2008 compilation on Hip-O/UMG both look in the 45-50k range, making the top of this weeks chart a five-record horse race. The overall market was up 5% over last week, down 14% vs same week last year and now down 10% year-to-date. It's only January and we're already down double-digits, which can't be good news. That means there isn't that much difference between the n100 and the n1 so perhaps Celine will climb a lot after the CBS special All I can say is Thank God she released her album last year right before Christmas time...can you imagine what sales would have been like if she would have released it now Poor Mimi and Madge won't have this advantage Quote http://showstalker.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/celine-dion-doctorate-laval-univ-2.jpg
Shaun Posted January 31, 2008 at 11:57 PM Posted January 31, 2008 at 11:57 PM Whether 50,000 gets you to number 1 or not, the fact is Celine sold MUCH less than that to fall to #69. What the hell are Sony Music USA waiting on to service a 2nd single to radio? Has a new video been shot? Have they even decided upon a 2nd single? Or are they, as usual, placing all their eggs in one basket and banking on the CBS special to do their work for them. What a joke. Ted Posted February 1, 2008 at 01:19 AM Posted February 1, 2008 at 01:19 AM UNITED WORLD CHART compiled and provided by Media Traffic Celine sold 49,000 of Taking Chances this week and #1 album, Alicia Keyes, sold 129,000 23 week 11 Celine Dion - Taking Chances Columbia - 49.000 Not too bad Quote http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46/tedxyz/Untitled-TrueColor-02.jpg

stillwater Posted February 1, 2008 at 02:56 AM Posted February 1, 2008 at 02:56 AM 69 is certainly not a good spot to be in! Celine's been without a hit in ages! And how SONY is promoting and handling her as a signature artist is unimaginable! she`s #69 on billboard Quote

I agree Alicia's second single is climbing the airplay charts while we don't even know what the second single is going to be They are treating her as if she is Barbra Streisand Quote http://showstalker.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/celine-dion-doctorate-laval-univ-2.jpg
dj4celine Posted February 1, 2008 at 10:32 AM Posted February 1, 2008 at 10:32 AM They are treating her as if she is Barbra Streisand I think they would treat Barbra as royalty Besides, 49,000 isn't bad considering that th singles (or should I say single) are falling off of or nowhere on the charts Quote
tal-sh2 Posted February 1, 2008 at 03:28 PM Posted February 1, 2008 at 03:28 PM In Media-Traffic Celine is #23 with 49.000 copies sold. Quote "These walls keep a secret, That only we know..."http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u287/bambaplanet/G49272_b.jpgSorry for my English.
Prince Whiskers Posted February 2, 2008 at 08:45 AM Posted February 2, 2008 at 08:45 AM Possible reasons why a second single hasn't materialized yet: 1. The CBS special will herald the arrival of a new single, possibly the EOM remix. 2. They're waiting for the much-touted world tour to start.3. Celine's too busy with rehearsals to shoot a music video.4. The DVD is selling so well Sony could care less about the album.5. None of the above. tal-sh2 Posted February 2, 2008 at 08:50 AM Posted February 2, 2008 at 08:50 AM Celine does very busy...Even if she is not busy, she needs a hard rest.Only finish "A New Day", and only 2 months later starts a new world-tour.That's crazy... Prince Whiskers Posted February 2, 2008 at 08:59 AM Posted February 2, 2008 at 08:59 AM That's true, tal-sh2. I bet the music industry was very surprised when she announced a world tour even as she was still in Vegas. Hey, nobody saw that coming. Not even the SCF's. Kyle_Jared Posted February 2, 2008 at 11:24 AM Posted February 2, 2008 at 11:24 AM The album is holding its own........it's sold healthy so far, we just want it to be huge! I really think this record will have legs when the tour kicks off this month and more singles get released. And I'm pretty positive we'll get AT LEAST another video.............. Quote

dj4celine Posted February 4, 2008 at 04:10 PM Posted February 4, 2008 at 04:10 PM The sales in the US are really depressing... I hope the CBS special brings in some new buyers there in the US. If not, Sony should get the second single out and make it a multi-format one instead of just depending on the AC charts. Her AC fans have already bought the album, or will still continue to buy it in the coming weeks. But its the new people that needs to get introduced with this album's sounds. Quote

Hits revised One Day Sales. It's now: HITS; YOUR WEAK-END TOP 10: Well, it will be touch and go this week as to whether the #1 album, which appears at this point to be Alicia Keys’ J Records release As I Am, the year’s best seller so far, will crack the 60k mark, the previous chart-topping low established last year by the Dreamgirls soundtrack. Rhino’s Juno soundtrack will drop down to #2 with 50-55k, followed by three debuts—Universal Motown’s Mars Volta, Hip-O/UMe’s 2008 Grammy Nominees and Jive/ZLG rockers Bullet for My Valentine, all bunched in the 45-50k range. Geffen’s Mary J. Blige follows at 40-45k, with Disney’s Hannah Montana 2: Non Stop Dance Party also entering the chart with 35-40k A&M’s Keyshia Cole, tbd/ATO/RED’s Radiohead, Big Machine’s Taylor Swift, Pearl’s Garth Brooks and EMM’s Now 26 are all grouped at between 30-35k, good enough for all but two of them to land in the Top 10.
