"Taking Chances" ALBUM on the charts

Truthfully, Celine could have done better in the US, sales-wise. As it is, her comeback cd is struggling to hit the million mark. Coupled with Sony's inadequate push, the less enthusiastic response to her album is definitely the result of her Vegas residency, with Celine distancing herself from the spotlight. Successful as it was, the fact is, she's without a hit single in years! No real huge hit album on the charts! And fellow divas and diva-wannabes reigning the pop scene in her absence!

Don't worry, I hope Celine will do like Madonna few years ago: American life was a little flop, but the next album whiwh is nothing else but Confessions on a dance floor was one of her biggest success; Let's hope Celine's next album will do the same!

Taking Chances is not a flop. Thanks to illegal cds cd sales are low and will continue to get lower every year. FACE THE FACTS! Besides sales don't mean anything. Celine doesn't care about sales. Quantity doesn't mean quality. ALicia Keyes's As I Am, is her worst album yet it has done really well, meanwhile Taking Chances which to me is on of Celine's Great Albums is doing "ok" but the songs are marvelous. You can also blame SONY for not promoting the album enough. I wish she would switch label because Sony isn't giving her the respect she deserves.

IMO it was ''One Heart'' and ''Miracle'' that killed her momentum.

IMO it wasn't one heart and miracle it was the way celine's team handled things that killed the momentum.

we all know the mistakes of the past, i surrender instead of goodbye's (better singles selection in general and better videos) , they shouldn't have released a new album (one heart) but ANDHC special edition with some of the new songs in it, and they shouldn't release that hideous live album AND...live in LV, that's all

I agree....album has good songs but not hit songs...that could be great radio hits.

 

And we all feel bit disappointed that only two months after release album is off the charts...c'mon if you see Billboard chart and who's ahead of Celine ...it's sad....even albums that have been on chart for more than a year....artist I've never heard off.

 

I know Celine doesn't care about sales....but we all want her to do well...and this album just DID NOT do well.

All the blame should go to Sony. Why there's no even a second video from the new album???? Its HALF YEAR already since they released Taking Chances video and there's no new video until now???!!!

That's true......HALF A YEAR since the first video from "Taking Chances." if Celine is LUCKY the album will sell between 25-35,000 copies in the US after next week's CBS Special.......and then what. Those increase in sales will only last 2 weeks maximum. The albums US sales will still only be in the 900,000 range......Apparantly they're waiting on "Eyes on Me" With Wil.I.Am, but how will the public react to that???? I have my doubts. "My love" or "Surprise Surprise" or even "ALone" would do better stateside.........but in Europe nobody but Sweden seems to be spinning the track?????????

 

Frig, I hope they kick it in high gear when this tour starts.....

I really don't understand what Sony is doing regarding the second single!!!! Why are they waiting so long??? It's not even playing here in Quebec. I guess radio stations are still waiting for a confirmation of a 2nd single. It's soooooooooooooooo long!!!

For copies sold and compared to other artist, it may be considered not a flop BUT if we compare it to Celine's previous albums and her status as a world-renowned singer, it is a flop. Singles didn't even become hits. But I know it will still sell and may be able to get a great single. Well, there's still 10 months to go for this year and a world tour.

 

So we don't have to stop believing.

Indeed, very impressive sales numbers for Alicia's album with the huge hit - No One!!

And Celine's?? Their cds came out the same exact day in Nov. in the US. Celine's quickly vanished down the charts since, while Alicia's continue to sell and enjoy chart dominance!

What Celine need the most now is more promotion. It takes a new video a new single and new promotion everywhere. As always she register a new album, makes the first single come out and then nothing else, she leaves the album to itself.

Nothing and nobody sells by itself, it takes a lot of things, otherwhise people forget about the album in a blink of an eye!

Alicia is everywhere, she was at grammy's last night, everybody knows she has a new album out.

Taking Chances is not a bad albums, people who listen to it likes the tracks, it misses the right push, the right promotion.

There's no video for any new single nor for Usa nor for Europe, how can she sell? How can people get closer to her album?

I don't know what they're doing, it seems to me that they're playing too much with fire, they think that everything is a game where Celine and her little son can play.

Let's not forget that she's everywhere too. She performed at the Super Bowl in the US (which is watched by the entire country), she was on the Grammy Awards, and her song is played like crazy. And Clive Davis is behind her in full force... That's what makes THE difference...
