Taking Chances from #100 to #55 on Billboard 200. :)

 

Celine Dion's "Taking Chances" (No. 55 with 19,000; up 141%). The latter also increases thanks to the diva's CBS prime time concert special, which aired on Feb. 15.

Hi, I'm new here and I think I can help you in this topic, especially with the chart rankings from Europe.

Till now, this week, those are the new positions I've seen:

 

Italy: #37 (+2)

 

Switzerland: #41 (+1)

 

USA: #55 (+45)

 

Japan: #63 (+2) (2.568 sales)

 

UK: #66 (+2) P

 

France: #66 (+1) (1.250 sales)

 

Germany: OUT last week

Great news about the Billboard position in the US!!

And the impact should be even stronger next week since the special aired on Friday...

This week's chart is mainly impacted by the Grammy Awards... but let's see how well Celine will do next week! :D

1380 albums sold in France this week.

 

Gold in Spain = 40K. and +17 ----> #67

-14 in Sweden--->#53

those are good news.

it will climb on the charts again with the US leg of her world tour.

but before that, we need good singles from TC.

is that impossible to have?

With all those good news, I expect the album to be back in the UWC Top-20 this Friday with at least 50k.

However, I don't think that Taking Chances will climb higher than maybe the 30th rank nxt week on Billboard, because the effect from the CBS Special will soon come to an end, and then if no new single...it will be difficult.

Maybe Céline should have scheduled a first Canada/US leg of the Tour in February/March to keep on boosting the sales! Now she will be in North America only next summer.

Here in Europe we're more lucky and I think the album will climb (maybe not very high but no matter) in some good European charts like UK, France or Germany in few months.

 

Finally I have a question, how many albums are sold in South Africa by the #1 spot?

well, this time of the year sales in S.A are slow. You need to sell about 5, 000 for number one on the RSG chart. Tho taking chances is probably selling HUGE here cause of all the promo going on and with tho tour. Every CD store i've been to has her posters everywhere and her CD's and DVD's on display. I'll have to check with my friend at RISA (our version of RIAA) but I think the album has sold a total of like 160,000 copies now. They haven't certified it so yet...

TC sold 12,000 copies here.

49.000...strange! Because it's only 12k more than last week whereas Céline sold 11k more than last week in US alone! And we can notice small climbs in every country!

Have the 19.000 copies in US this week been counted in today's worldwide sales? Or will they be next week?

By the way, All the way sold more than 10k this week once again (5-6k in US, 5 in UK, 600 in Japan, #15 or 16 in Ireland)!

And finally, #1 spot for the DVD in US, we've been dreaming of for so long! This was the only #1 spot that was missing!

Umm.. u mean, this summer, right?? :huh:

 

Besides, it's good that they put the North American leg later in the year,becuase if they are planning a TCH re-release the tour would help sell it and we can expect the album to rise more. The album just needs to stay in the top 200 and not disappear.... so i think it may work out just fine eventually :flowers:
