"Taking Chances" ALBUM on the charts

Couldn't agree more. Celine's music has been a hard sell in the U.S. of late. Gone are the days of Falling Into You and Let's Talk About Love. Although one can't expect her to match, if not surpass those sales, given the economic constraints of the music industry these days, etcc... still, Celine should still be considered pretty marketable in the States, so one cannot help but wonder what's wrong?? Is Sony Music to blame??....And Although her 5-year Las Vegas stint was generally successful, her A New Day album enjoyed moderate success in the U.S. with no real legitimate top single. Her 2 follow-up English albums, Miracle and One Heart, generated lukewarm response overall in the U.S. as well, with not one certified chart hit to boast!!

 

 

Looking tha last sales from TC in USA, is going to be hard to reach the 1 million mark there

I have heard a lot of good buzz about her here in California. A lot of people like this new album and the "Taking Chances" single. So maybe this is the one that will get her back up there in the US

When you think of the sales of the current "Divas" and I use this losely this is a strong selling album. Here are some comparisons

 

Celine 2.3 million albums (2 Months)

 

Kelly Clarkson 2 Million (7 Months)

Gwen Stefani 2.3 Million (1 year 1 month)

Carrie Underwood 2 million (4 Months)

Britney Spears 1.5 million (3 months)

 

Looking at these figure I would say Celine is doing fantastic

I agree with you, boyblackuk. Celine's doing OK with her new album for sure but considering these figure I'd rather say she ROCKS. Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson - all of them have a single which you likely have heard and seen the video whether you adore or hate the artist but from TC there wasn't anything smashing really so we wouldn't really see the video or hear the "Taking Chances" song unless we were not interested. i agree. i dont know why people are so bitter about the sales. britney has 2 strong singles, but look at her sales. their sales is definitely their lowest selling, but no way a flop. good example of a flop album is Brave by J.Lo.

Well, Streisand started releasing at a younger age i think and the fact that those albums are english and she is an american gave her a good start and became the best-selling female singer in the u.s and u.s only and will soon lose that title. Only three will be able to beat her u.s. record ( and the 2 closest to her is Madonna and Mariah. but I know Celine has a chance too.

 

Streisand is not doing well now and like what you said, her career "WAS" fantastic.

 

Celine is the best-selling female singer and not only in Canada. I think, Celine is the best-selling singer in the whole continent of europe.

 

I know that at this point, TC did a bit well, but it's not enough and most of us admitted that TC is not really doing as good as what we've expected it to be.

OK can everybody just KNOCK IT OFF??!!! The album is out for three freaking months! You know when TCOML was released it fell out of the top 10 quicker then waterfall!! But all of a sudden TT became a major hit and like 6 months after it release it became number one!!! January is a slow month and that's the only reason celine is still in the top 50 actualy - no big releases for now ...let's hope celine will visit some more countries in europ during her current trip - it can boost her sales there...

 

i'm not holding my breath regarding her cbs tv special...it will boost the sales of TC for sure but only for a week or two - hopefuly the world tour will turn this album into a hit but it's gonna be hard...

2.3, well 2.4 millions in 2 months is quite good, Celine has not been always the most selling singer every year, come on guys, many singers have sell more than her tha last 27 years, even when Celine was in top, so is normal that a few of them are outselling Celine now, but only a few of them.

And Celine is well known, look how is selling the DVD, 5 years sold out in Las Vegas, 200 millions of albums.
