JohnFan97 Posted December 2, 2007 at 02:12 AM Posted December 2, 2007 at 02:12 AM this is soo sad.... celines got her first flop... aye.... knew that taking chances wasnt s great song... why are ppl at sony so warpped... 60 year olds shouldnt be be managing her no more... shasti What the hell are you talking about? This is by no means a flop, SONY is to blame for the lack of promotion. We need her on more radio stations that reach out to the youth, like z100. request people!!!! TakingChancesRequest you don't have to fill out anything just check next to her name and click submit. We have to get her up on the radio, im getting sick of hearing 'No One" every 2 seconds. Quote
RLAAMJR. Posted December 2, 2007 at 03:37 AM Posted December 2, 2007 at 03:37 AM For me, Taking Chances is not dropping fast for a fact that at least some people knew "Alone" is also included in the new album. Andyes, She'll start touring next year, so we'll be expecting Celine's album to sell still and reach 10 million copies or more. Quote
LuisMa Posted December 2, 2007 at 03:54 AM Posted December 2, 2007 at 03:54 AM I received my copy of "Taking Chances" long box edition with a bonus CD with 8 hits, and it has the "Titanic" version of "My Heart Will Go On." Is this the first time it has been included on a Celine album? Also, I think that 830,000 copies in its second week worldwide is just amazing. Quote

Prince Whiskers Posted December 2, 2007 at 12:45 PM Posted December 2, 2007 at 12:45 PM This album has to quickly find a way to boost its commercial position. It won't be long before Mimi and Esther unleash their new materials. Oh well, at least it's people like Josh and Alicia who are outselling Celine at the moment. It would have been very irritating to see Lamb Nation apocalyptically gloating about the sales. Quote http://cdn.webecoist.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/modern-pet-solo-blown-glass.jpg
tcherno Posted December 2, 2007 at 12:57 PM Posted December 2, 2007 at 12:57 PM nice result for D'ELLES. i am sure, with TC world tour, she might sell 100 K copies more.would the album reach 1M copies sold? Quote

Shaun Posted December 2, 2007 at 03:12 PM Posted December 2, 2007 at 03:12 PM (edited) It's blindingly obvious the album needs a shot in the arm now, not in January. It's falling down the charts around the world, barely anywhere has it remained in the Top 5 after 1 week. What's to blame? A first single that wasn't a hit or played much anywhere? A poor release date? Poor promotional tour? Poor support from Sony? All of the above? Let's take Celine herself out of the equation - she worked her arse of promoting this album - yes ok she might not have spoke about the material much or whatever but she sung 2 songs from the album everywhere and every single show she's been on mentioned the new album coming out more than once. So that leaves us with a poor first single, poor releases date or lo and behold a complete and utter lack of support from Sony. Now yes, Sony started up the hype machine very well before the album's release - "the album everyone is talking about" - but what are they doing now? Celine's back in Vegas now so is it just back to the One Heart / Miracle days of letting the album fall down the charts spectacularly without a care? Where are the continued adverts? Where is the testing the waters with a second single? Where are the in store displays promoting the new album? Where are the outdoor adverts? Sony, Celine can't do it all! Maybe the release date is a factor - November. Perhaps they were still expecting "Taking Chances" to be getting played everywhere at the moment and so January would've been a sensible date for the 2nd single. Well that hasn't happened so they should've had a back up plan but it appears they don't have one so we now must wait until the 2nd single appears whenever that may be, and just where will the album be in the charts by then? CSCfan Posted December 2, 2007 at 04:02 PM Posted December 2, 2007 at 04:02 PM (edited) Well they can't release a new single right now, that would be blindingly foolish and even more wasteful.Radio stations are going to be playing more & more X-music leading up till Christmas, so that would a big no-no. January is possible the quietest month in the music business, so releasing a new single then, especially by an artist of such calibre as Céline, would get noticed (no matter how bad the song/single choice is). "A New Day..." will be over, Céline has spare time and as we know, she will be promoting in Europe again; so January for a new single release is a no-brainer. I just hope it will proper TC back to the top, as well as the new CBS Special in February and hopefully some more promo on big TV shows (like Larry King, Jay Leno, etc.) in the US. Plus apparently in the UK, outdoor adverts, etc. will be starting around now, as well as promo in other places and other ways, hopefully lasting till January. VinnyT. Posted December 2, 2007 at 05:27 PM Posted December 2, 2007 at 05:27 PM From UK press: The Dragoon band have outsold outsold pop acts Celine Dion and the Sugababes to make the top 20 of the album chart. Their album Spirit of the Glen is at number 17 in the official album countdown, ahead of the Canadian superstar, girl band and even singer-songwriter Mika.It means Celine should be at #18 in UK this week. But since "Alone" has been already played here and some other countries, then they should release "Alone" as the 2nd single. Quote

dlh1 Posted December 3, 2007 at 07:19 PM Posted December 3, 2007 at 07:19 PM The thing is in the UK, Celine sold loads of albums in the first week, even though it didnt get to number one etc, it still sold loads of copies. The reason she is falling, is because most of the rest of the top 20 have steady sales over a few week which keeps them at a steady position, but celine sold all hers in one week, and now not many people are buying her records, so that's why she is falling. If she was to sell between 10,000 and 20,000 steadily every week then her position would still be in the top 10, its because everyone bought her album in the first week that is resulting in the album dropping. The killers were released the same day as celine, and they are now in the 50's in the album charts, so she's not doing too bad! The next single will make or break this album, so it's got to be good, Alone or Fade Away, come on Sony!!!! Quote

Its very true actually plus the past couple of Killers albums were massive sellers going to Number 1 in the uk and if Celine hadnt released her album at this time it could easily have been Number 1. Plus if the album sold more than 12 000 copies last week it is already gold which is hard to get to in 3 weeks. A new single would propel the album in the UK chart. Quote
