manu23 Posted November 20, 2007 at 03:58 PM Posted November 20, 2007 at 03:58 PM With those numbers she won't even be number one in Europe, I don't think she could reach Leona (more than 300K) even with all the sales in the rest of countries Quote
Xpresso Posted November 20, 2007 at 04:00 PM Posted November 20, 2007 at 04:00 PM Thanks guys!107 000 is very unusual for a debut in France I think. Johnny is a legend in France...But 30 000 for an English album from Celine is pretty good. Britney Spears debuted at number 2 with about 13 000 albums of Blackout a few weeks back. And very often the #1 only sells around 10 000 to 15 000 albums. So we should be happy! As for Canada, well no numbers out yet, and I'm surprised we didn't even hear anything about early numbers ... Official numbers usually come out on Wednesdays. So tomorrow should be THE DAY... Quote
manu23 Posted November 20, 2007 at 04:00 PM Posted November 20, 2007 at 04:00 PM it's so sad.. i can't believe one heart charted better than taking chances, and with no promotion! It was before Vegas She was still alive for people Quote

LuisMa Posted November 20, 2007 at 04:09 PM Posted November 20, 2007 at 04:09 PM I was looking at the UK Midweeks, but they do not have yet the position Celine might have on her second week. Alicia Keys is not storming the charts there, with the highest debut predicted to be Girls Aloud new "Tangled Up" album, just behind Leona Lewis' massive seller. Quote

UK should release Alone now before Christmas Quote I never even knew the song the orchestra was playing........ kdw123 Posted November 20, 2007 at 06:19 PM Posted November 20, 2007 at 06:19 PM Get over it people! You people are so negative and such drama queens. She is doing good. Last week was the first time that she was able to promote the Taking Chances single or CD in the US....so for a lot of people in the US it was like the first week the single was released since many of them had probably not heard the song before. 250,000 in sales is not bad at all. Plus if she stays constant with sales over the next few weeks and months, this is good. She is the best selling female artist of all time which doesn't mean she has to be the best selling artist every week. So what if AK sold a lot of CDs last week. Her music is trash and she won't last. Celine has been around for years and is still in the top 10 with a new CD...that is something to be proud of. Not many other artist that have been around as long as she has can say the same! Quote
lyn Posted November 20, 2007 at 06:25 PM Posted November 20, 2007 at 06:25 PM Yeah I really think this is gonna be an album that's not going to peak, but will have steady, maybe increasing, sales. I was talking to a friend two days ago, and we got to the topic of Celine Dion and she said "Celine Dion? but she doesn't even do anything any more." So I guess to the general public she really is pretty dead =p And all this sudden media might not do much to revive her immediately, but it will work in the long run.. we just have to wait. It really can't be helped! For people that haven't been to Vegas or know the success of the show, it really seemed like she just fell off the map and retired, and this return has been promoted like barely a half hearted one. We'll have to wait on it. Quote Philadelphia, PA, Sept 5 2008.New York, NY, Sept 16 2008, Madison-Freaking-Square Garden.

nickah79 Posted November 20, 2007 at 07:42 PM Posted November 20, 2007 at 07:42 PM She's doing more promoting next week, isn't she? Plus people will be out shopping next week after Thanksgiving. You never know what will happen. Josh Groban didn't start out at #1, did he? I'm not sure. But he's climbing. She didn't do any of her promotion until the week the album was released. And she didn't have a hit song on the radio. I guess I'm trying to put it into perspective now with these depressing results. Quote
