The Billboard charts come out on Thursday. They have write up on Wednesday tells the Billboard 200 10 ten. Thursday is Thanksgiving and I don't know what they'll do.

Figures from Wal-mart stores might make a difference for Celine, so all may not be lost. In the meantime, let's stop worrying about all these chartings bec. we can't control them.

 

If you ask me it was quite wrong of them to have advertised this album as "the edgy Celine" or "the new Celine" or "the Celine you're about to discover". The average fan must have been puzzled or intimidated by all that. From now on, they should promote it as an updated sound BUT with the trademark diva voice.

Billboard take into cosideration more stores than Hitsdailydouble and usually add around 30 000 to the doubles final figures, we still have 35% of them to come. I reckon in total we will be around 250k.

 

Canada is ber biggest market in my opinion and we have heard nothing about how she is doing. Does anyone know?????

The best way to make her album #1 or sell more is a hot single.

Notice that Alicia's album on hot sale because her single draw much attention.

The same way Celine did it is with "My Heart will go on".

If I remember corectly, Celine has very few albums that debuted at no. 1. And still, she's the biggest selling female artist ever. Her shows sell out in a matter of hours and, eventually, most of the people buying those tickets will buy the album too. It may never reach number one, but she will sell more than anyone else out there. Remember she sold 15 million albums in the last three years, without having a record out...

Besides, no.1s depend on promotion. It doesn't matter how good your music is or how many fans you have, if nobody hears the damn music. The single is barely playing on radios and TV, unlike Alicia who's everywhere. But that is normal. Celine was there, she's done that. She's got a little boy to take care of now, she can't be on every little show, like she used to do back during the FIY and LTAL era.

I'm sure that, in the end, and once the tour gets on its way, Taking Chances will sell like crazy.

Alicia’s "As I Am" album, a sensational collection, appears to have sold roughly 700,000 copies in its first week. This is a big deal but even bigger because the CD has "legs." It should cross the million mark next week and head for 2 million. Amazing in this time of downloading and nothing else selling.

 

If only things were so good for Britney Spears. Her "Blackout" is dead as a doornail. It sold about 60,000 copies last week, bringing the total to not quite 450,000 in three weeks. "Blackout" needs a quick adrenaline rush of sales, but it’s unlikely to happen. With Spears unavailable for publicity or marketing and TV shows off the air, Spears has played into a "perfect storm."

 

And what of Celine Dion? She’ll sell a respectable 250,000 copies of her "Taking Chances" and even has a modest hit in the title-track single. Dion will get most of her sales over the long haul, depending on her tour. At least it’s a graceful comeback. Ironically, she’ll outsell Spears when all is said and done.

That's in the US alone. Celine sells albums in places they haven't even heard of Alicia, for example She is one of the few true world superstars, like they said in some article. Over all, world wide sells, will be bigger than the rest, if not this week, for sure in the following months.

i was hoping for more but someone said before that Rihanna, Nelly Furtado, almost sold around 250K on their 1st week on the charts and didnt reach #1 from the 1st week, so... its good

 

but we need a HUGE hit... and the world tour will help the album gain more popularity with the tickets vanishing in 35 minutes (like what happened in Montreal)
