Jeffieboi Posted November 17, 2007 at 07:17 PM Posted November 17, 2007 at 07:17 PM I don't think whether or not she beats Alicia is important. All that matters is that the album doesn't flop. It's not like people can't just buy BOTH of their albums if they like both singers. There's no rule that you have to choose so it's not really competition. Even if she's #4 I'll be happy. Quote

Bambam Posted November 17, 2007 at 08:52 PM Posted November 17, 2007 at 08:52 PM (edited) I am not disappointed at all by those numbers. In fact, they are better than I tought they would be. How many 40 years-old do you hear regularly on pop radio stations or see on top of the charts? Not often. Edited November 17, 2007 at 08:53 PM by Bambam Quote

I believe Celine will still debut at #4 Darren when the charts are announed tomorrow. It's a strong debut across the world but if this album goes the same way One Heart, Miracle and A New Day... did then in a few weeks it'll be out of the charts across the world. Sony and Celine need to react now, she isn't back in Vegas until 29th November. Taking Chances single is what 2 months old now, they could get away with a new single, otherwise watch the album fall down the charts. Xpresso Posted November 18, 2007 at 01:33 AM Posted November 18, 2007 at 01:33 AM Not sure if it's a good idea to release a new single just before Christmas. Mainly in the US where most adult contemporary radios play Christmas music most of the time!!! Maybe a few days after Christmas might be a good timing... It looks like TC single is still climbing slowly in the US. It's now on the Billboard Dance Chart too (number 46 I think)!!! Quote

LuisMa Posted November 18, 2007 at 01:40 AM Posted November 18, 2007 at 01:40 AM The first week sales of an album are not that important; what matters is longevity. "Falling Into You" was a huge success for over a year, and though its predecessor had included the number 1 single "The Power Of Love," its last two singles totally flopped ("Think Twice" 95 and "Only One Road" 93) in the US. Then, remember that "Tell Him" was doing miserably when "Let's Talk About Love" debuted. Still, Celine is opening with amazing sales this week. We definitely would like her to be number 1 all over the world, but we have to give the album time. Quote

boyblackuk Posted November 18, 2007 at 02:01 AM Posted November 18, 2007 at 02:01 AM The album is at #2 in Canada! Im sorry but in Canada D'elles was the highest selling debut of the year at no 1 and if this english album isnt then there is something wrong. Who is Number 1 and how much has Celine Sold in canada the past couple of Number 1s debuted with sales of 30k. This is all very unsusual I think Quote
dj_a_rock Posted November 18, 2007 at 03:43 AM Posted November 18, 2007 at 03:43 AM I think there's nothing wrong with the song "Taking Chances". All of my non Celine fan friends liked it. I remember most of you loved it when the single is not yet released on the charts. I don't know why you are all saying now that is a wrong choice? Quote

smw Posted November 18, 2007 at 07:14 AM Posted November 18, 2007 at 07:14 AM of course we're all going to say it's the wrong choice now that we've seen how badly it's been doing! BUT the song is good - and that's all there is to it. It just didn't click with the public, and let's pray the second single will be a smash!! Quote
