tcherno Posted November 14, 2007 at 11:12 PM Posted November 14, 2007 at 11:12 PM I'm sorry, but the 250,000 copies estimate is only a rumor and and a bad one at that. Celine will sell much more than that amount this week! I have only heard the Target commercial for AK and otherwise have never heard another of her songs (that I remember at least), but I am NOT impressed from the Target commercial and would never buy one of her CDs. In stores in my area, Celine's CD has been selling really like crazy and AK's CD is just sitting on the racks gathering dust. Let's wait for some official sales numbers before we start complaining or panicing over false rumors! i hope u r right cause i dont want celine to have 250 000 album sold When Britney's album was in the stores, the estimates were around 300 000 but she sold less.i hope the estimates are not true and she will sold a lot. Please, move on to the next single and no more OLD songs in ur TV appearances, Celine Quote
boyblackuk Posted November 14, 2007 at 11:23 PM Posted November 14, 2007 at 11:23 PM Listen guys I look at hits daily double every week and they are rarely wrong on their predictions but 250 000 is a massive amount of copies more than most sell in their first week, this is nearly 3 times as much as "Miracle" and 5 times as much as " A New Day" Plus this will be Celines.... ...10th Top 10 album in the USA... We are looking at 450 000 copies worldwide in the first week which is fantastic Quote
miracle_girl Posted November 15, 2007 at 12:05 AM Posted November 15, 2007 at 12:05 AM I dont know why people get so worked up about her album not being Number 1Celine has been more sucssefull then half the people in the charts these daysand they wont be around as long as celine has i think her album is doing great considering the lack of good promotion!! people have said on this forum that they think the album will do better in weeks to comei completely dissagree!!If the sales and chart positions of D'Elles are anything to go by!! just remeber she is the best selling female of all timeand she will be for a very long time!!as it is hard now days to sell as many albums as she has in the past!! TBH i am glad she has actually come out with some new material!! with and different sound!!! Xpresso Posted November 15, 2007 at 12:18 AM Posted November 15, 2007 at 12:18 AM WHAT???? Day 1 numbers... Alicia: 160,000 Josh Groban's Christmas Album: 67,000 Celine : 58,000 BUT dont' forget "Billboard estimates that the merchants who report to Nielsen SoundScan's Building Chart -- Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Circuit City, iTunes, Border's, Target, Anderson Merchandisers, and Handleman Co. -- represent 79% of the U.S. retail market." So it looks like Walmart sales aren't part of the estimates, and many of you bought multiple copies at Walmart... so it might increase a lot more once we know ALL the numbers... I hope. Quote
Thecolourofmylove Posted November 15, 2007 at 12:51 AM Posted November 15, 2007 at 12:51 AM From Perez (sorry if this was posted already): The numbers are in! Both Celine Dion and Alicia Keys released new albums this week. And while they didn’t come into it with any of the Kanye/50 hype, both are expected to sell very well. Only one will take the #1 spot, though. No One is expected to sell about 550,000 copies, music biz peeps tell PerezHilton.com. Meanwhile, Dion’s Taking Chances, her first English-language album in four years, should sell about 250,000. Congrats to both women. See, people still buy CDs! Say What? Posted November 15, 2007 at 01:07 AM Posted November 15, 2007 at 01:07 AM The in-store promo for Taking Chances is beyond laughable. There are ZERO posters, ZERO displays... nothing... zilch! I went to Walmart where the exclusive 2-pack CD/DVD was nowhere to be found the day of he release. I asked someone who works there in the music department and he couldn't find it anywhere. It's a friggin' EXCLUSIVE product for Walmart stores only, how can it not be displayed anywhere? So I went to another Walmart and there were only 2 copies. Today I went to Costco and there were two cases full of Alicia Key's album and no Taking Chances to be found at all. Good job Sony/BMG for promoting Celine in the USA stores. All you deserve is a big fat middle finger from all of us who try desperately to promote Celine the best we can with the very limited resources you allow us to use on youtube and myspace. Quote

caroline_reynolds Posted November 15, 2007 at 04:52 AM Posted November 15, 2007 at 04:52 AM Well this is kinda normal actually because the single didnt chart in the US and she just started her promo so people get to know right now that she is having a new album + tour etc things that we know for months. She did the Today Show, shell do the AMA +dancing with the stars and others. It will pay off. Give it some time.... Quote
mebe Posted November 15, 2007 at 04:54 AM Posted November 15, 2007 at 04:54 AM http://idolator.com/tunes/anecdotal-eviden...lves-322648.php anecdotal evidenceCeline And Alicia Fight It Out On Target's Shelves Yesterday, I wondered whether Alicia Keys or Celine Dion would top next week's album charts, and a poll of our readers indicated a plurality of support for Ms. Almost Named Herself Alicia Wild, although a few people noted that Celine's appearance on Oprah earlier this week would likely cinch things for the besuited French-Canadian. Anyway, last night, in the name of research (and needing a shower curtain rod), I took a trip to Target, and the music section--the only place where one can buy CDs in this particular mall--revealed some slightly surprising findings! As it turned out, the music section was completely devoid of copies of As I Am, while shoppers looking for Taking Chances could have their pick of the 10 copies remaining on the endcap. And while I figured that part of this was the result of the mall in question trying to "skew to the youth" (dear malls of America: this is a bad idea that you should never try to do, seriously), part of me also wondered if it was because people who may have seen Celine on Oprah and been interested in buying the CD didn't really know where to go to buy it; sure, big-boxes have music departments, but I'd guess that the association between seeing a new album advertised on TV and going to Target or wherever--except in cases like the Eagles', where the store and the album's availability are intertwined--isn't really automatic for people just yet. (And it likely never will be, given that big-boxes are going to start hiding their music departments somewhere inside the great big tents in the camping-equipment areas soon.) Obviously one Target in one weird-#ss mall in one suburb is an isolated case, and perhaps the relative providence of Celine albums is just a result of behavior by the more casual, Oprah-watching listener: they'd just wait until they had to go on some sort of errand and pick it up then, instead of rushing out right on release day like the younger, more-devoted fan would. But given that we've devoted so much e-ink to the woes of the record industry, and the slowly-dawning-on-the-people-who-sold-out-to-big-boxes fact that people can't buy albums if there's nowhere for them to actually do just that--or even feel like they can do so!--I did raise my eyebrow at this stock discrepancy, what with Taking Chances allegedly being such a monster album that it scared Britney Spears away from its release date. tcherno Posted November 15, 2007 at 01:21 PM Posted November 15, 2007 at 01:21 PM (edited) we need a new video a new single and a lot of promotion.it seems that Alone would be the next single, she is singing it everywhere. i hope, at least, Eyes On Me will be chosen as 2nd single in Europe & Asia. It will do well. If Alone wont do well on the charts, they should switch very quickly to another single not just like what happened with TC. What about the 1st day of sales? josh groban is ahead of Celine's TC? even though i love josh groban but i want celine to have a better position. But I'm sure Céline will do good in the coming days or weeks. I heard some people talk about britney, and that reminded me of something. One of my friends is fanatic for her, and he entered her website and the first thing he saw was the promotion for taking chances poping up... Isn't it strange? Promotion for a cd which is fighting for the same positions you are?? Quote http://img807.imageshack.us/img807/1352/opo3.jpg
