I’m no Mariah fan by any means… but can really expect Mariah to promote Celine’s songs, when Celine doesn’t even promote her own songs?

I can’t feel sorry for such an ignorant team.

 

And I’ve noticed a pattern with Mariah… she only compliments other artists if those artists have already complimented her in some way. 😂 She’s a narcissistic, insecure person.

 

And it’s just tough, as a Celine fan, to see Mariah’s career soar. Especially since Celine is such a beautiful soul and Mariah, well, isn’t. Just doesn’t sit well with me.

“Courage” album debuted at number one, when was Mariah’s last number one debut?! She also isn’t able to fill the arena seats for a tour like Celine proved to do all the way up to Covid and her illness.

I'd hardly say her career is soaring… she's only relevant for one month a year out of nostalgia… she's only as popular as Santas Elves.

She is so close to outselling Celine (if she hasn't already done so) due to her far stronger streaming numbers. It's absolutely infuriating when Celine has been consistently outselling her with every release since 1996, only exception being 2005. On Spotify, for instance, she is literally having a double amount of streams and the gap will only grow bigger and bigger as time goes by. It would be OK if that represented their respective careers but it simply doesn't.

 

''Obsessed'' which is a forgettable, trash song is literally out-streaming every Celine song except for MHWGO and BYLM. And all this because Team Mariah >>>>>> Team Celine.

Celine certainly has Mariah beat (or used to) regarding ticket sales and live performances.

 

Sadly, Courage only debuted at number 1 because of the bundle. And then it dropped at record-breaking speed.

 

Mariah is very celebrated right now. I’d argue even when it’s not the holidays. She’s had a successful few years. But the holidays really take her to the next level every year.

Celine never put Mariah’s Christmas Songs on her Christmas playlist.. but I know she did put “Hero” on her other playlist.

I wouldnt mind a remix Christmas album with remixes of the songs on TATST. It would be exciting and bring attention to the album. A dance remix of Oh Holy Night would be incredible if done right.

I firmly believe that her rendition of 'O Holy Night' stands as the best version ever recorded and definitely the best Christmas song ever!. We should incorporate this song into our playlists more frequently, or her team should actively promote it. The song is truly a gem.

Christmas Eve is also my next favorite.

I admit to barely following other artists on social media but is this a common things for bands and singers to do? To point their fans to other artists music…?

Ill give them a pass only because most of her christmas albums songs are there and up near the the top. I think their thinking is that people might get bored of only listening to her album over and over so they made that playlist to add some variety. I dont really agree with it but if it becomes peoples go to playlist then that should increase streams

I am telling you it is depressing! In the meantime MariahCareyVEVO uploaded brand new lyric videos of a couple Christmas songs. Where is that for Celine? We get lipped performances uploaded to celebrate the monumental album that is TCOML, and a random Playlist to urge people to listen to TAST.

They’ve done playlists for Pride month the past few years and it’s the same formula: intermingling her own songs (more of the club style dance songs) with other popular artists. The only major difference, as someone pointed out, is that this xmas playlist is more front-loaded with her songs instead of spread throughout.

 

I’m not sure the strategy, but I wonder if the goal is to train the algorithm to suggest Céline songs whenever fans of the artists featured in her playlist —say, a Maroon 5 fan or a P!nk fan— are looking to explore other music.

That’s an interesting point. I hope they actually have strategy when it comes to her career/legacy.

That is a smart thing, actually. You have to think about the algorithm. When you put songs together in a playlist, the algorithm understands that those songs have similarities between them, that people listen to them together. So, it enhances the chances of the algorithm suggest Celine songs when people randomly play any of those other artists songs.

 

In that sense, like Mariah or not, it’s not a smart move to keep AIWFCIY out of the playlist. It’s arguably the most play Christmas song right now. Mariah won’t lose a stream by keep her out, but Celine might lose some chance to be offered to other users.
