It's doing much better this year. Last Friday (12/08), it even outstreamed Kylie's Santa Baby and Katy Perry's Cozy Little Christmas which both were normally having higher streams.

Playlistings do wonders. Last year, O Holy Night didn't have 100k streams daily until Dec.22. Thanks to the Christmas Pop Playlist, it's almost doing 200k, I fear even more with today's update

Broken record but i wish her team promoted her holiday album… so many people love it upon hearing it and they didn’t even know she had one to begin with, or only know a couple songs.

 

She could easily be one of the biggest streaming climbers during the holiday season.. alas

I don't know how it works but is it up to record companies to be in playlists?

 

It's all about playlists and while there is an improvement for Céline, it's still not big and enough.

 

Some artists have 4 - 5 songs on them...

 

I really don't understand why Céline is treated like this. I mean... look at the BB Holiday top 100, the whole world is in there but Céline.

 

And while I give credits to Mariah, I don't understand her numbers this year... everybody is sick of this song!

 

And if Branda Lee can reach the no1 spot after 65 years...there's still hope for Christmas Eve! And hopefully before I reach 80!

Fingers crossed her team improves and they get better at all this streaming stuff in the future. But for now, I’m just going to enjoy her beautiful holiday album and hope Celine is having cozy time at home.

Considering we all got to see Celine up and dancing around recently, I feel like thats reason to be pretty joyful as fans compared to a few months ago.

 

Fingers crossed her team improves and they get better at all this streaming stuff in the future. But for now, Im just going to enjoy her beautiful holiday album and hope Celine is having cozy time at home.

Well, It varies. But, talking about Billboard, 125 streams from paid music platforms (like Spotify premium, Amazon Music, Apple Music) is equivalent to 1 sales unit. From ad supported platforms or videos platforms the equivalence is 375 streams to 1 sales unit.

 

But it’s hard to do the math cause for Billboard, for instance, it will only count streams from USA, and there’s no way for us to know where the streams are coming from.

 

This days, a song need between 600.000 and 1.700.000 streams at week, exclusively from US, to appear on Billboard Hot 100.

For the same reason we don't get anniversary releases, they do not push Celine's Christmas album because that would put her in the legacy artist category and they think she's above that / not there yet.

My partner isn’t a big fan of TAST either.

 

He loves Les Cloches du Hameau, otherwise he finds the rest to be over-produced.

 

But I love it. It’s some of Celine’s most powerful vocals on an album.

The highs, the lows, the instrumentation, the choir. It’s VERY impressive! If you had downloaded her leaked multitracks of the song and listened to the raw take you’d hear it’s not whiny. Also based on sales streaming numbers between the two, it is the superior version lol

 

Celine’s version sounds like it was made in 80s, the way she sings in it sounds like what JJG was teaching her not to do anymore. The range is disappointing and the singing is just not up to 98 Celine sorry.

 

Also whoever likes songs like Feliz Navidad on that album should have their Stan card revoked lol

 

For me this album is a big low. Like Miracle.

 

It could have been amazing, it could have been groundbreaking, with a different sound, like Destiny’s Child made their Christmas album at their image, but it ended up being boring and predictable.

 

And just because she’s belting here and there doesn’t mean :

 

1- it’s good vocals

2- it’s pleasant

3- has its place on the song

 

Which is probably why Another Year Has Gone By is the only decent one on there for me. It’s the only one where they did not try hard.

 

I hope she had fun making it at least. And sales were decent I guess.

It has been a while since I read so many intentional inaccuracies in a post. I just love it when people intentionally downplay facts. Lecture about to begin!

 

1) The sales of TAST were not decent. They were excellent, being the fastest selling Christmas album by a female singer in history. Current sales stand above 13m worldwide.

2) Celine is not just belting here and there. Lows, highs, runs, dynamics, volume control are all on point. Listen to 'Ave Maria' for instance. A singing masterclass.

3) Her vocal range is far from disappointing. She is literally covering about 3 octaves in this record. And I am talking about singing notes, not frequencies dolphins can appreciate.

4) The only reason Mariah's OHN has more streams is because she is shoving her Christmas music down our throats every year for the past 15 years. Before that it was Celine's version that had sold more copies. Same way TAST was edging MC out in total sales, even in the U.S., up until 2013. Everything changed during the past 10 years due to the massive difference in the promotion.

5) Funny how you criticise TAST in terms of its production but love Mariah's OHN which has the SAME arrangements as her songs ''So Blessed'' and ''Forever''.
