Christina is singing it too aggressively. I wouldn’t play her songs on Christmas, it just doesn’t fit. There is no holiday spirit in her version.

She always sings aggressively. She’s always come across as disingenuous to me… as a person and as a singer.

Wow, I’ve never heard that before either.

Wish it was just Celine. Although I love many of those artists… I just never like songs featuring a bunch of singers.

I think this is the album that Celine originally recorded “The Christmas Song” for.

Yes it is. People say how amazing Céline sounds on the album (and of course she does) but TCS was recorded in 1993 and Brahms' Lullaby is from 1996 from the album For Our Childern Too! Which includes a little humming at the start.

I knew about that song lol

Listening to These Are Special Times now, it's such a classic album. I do wish she hadn't started her increased nasality during that period, it takes away from some of the songs for me.

That version of the song is terrible anyway. Celines is perfect as a solo.

Looking at the UK single charts this week really depresses me. Anyone who is anyone is back in the chart with their Christmas classics.

Wham, Mariah, The Pogues, Brenda Lee, Ed Sheeran, Elton John, Michael Buble, Shakin Stevens, Ariana Grande, Band Aid, Kelly Clarkson, Dean Martin, John Lennon, Chris Rea, Taylor Swift, Sia, Paul McCartney, The Ronettes, Wizzard, Leona Lewis, Slade, Darlene Love, Nat King Cole - ALL of them back in the UK Top 40 with Christmas songs.

Sony and Celine should be all over this every year! A real real travesty in my opinion. It utterly baffles me how she can have one of the best selling Christmas albums ever yet nobody streams it enough for her to chart? Just bizarre.

It is strange!

Maybe it depresses people to listen to Celine these days? Because of all she’s been through over the past several years.

Whereas she used to represent romance and optimism with her big and uplifting songs.

Hopefully Sony figures out a way to increase her streams.

Her streams are actually better than ever this year. So this is not about people being depressed to listen to her. It is all about lack of promotion and poor social media engagement. Edited by LukeD

Apparently Dean Martin is charting higher than her. And his social media isn’t on fire or anything - especially since he died in the 90s.

There’s gotta be an additional reason beyond Sony and her team not promoting her.

I complete agree with you! Sony Music and Legacy Recordings should be promoting Celine's album like crazy every year, starting November 1st, just like Mariah's team does, and guess what: Mariah's "Merry Christmas" and Celine's "These Are Special Times" were BOTH originally released by Sony Music Entertainment, and both artists have the majority of their career catalog partially managed by Legacy Recordings, a divison of Sony to literally celebrate the legacy of their artists.

This year, is the absolute main year to promote, market, and release any new remixes and/or previously unreleased material from the vault of the recordings for "These Are Special Times" for it's milestone 25th Anniversary!!! And... so far, all Sony and Team Celine have done is posted a social media post on Celine's social media pages, and

updated the cover page/banner on her social media pages. What??! That is a real travesty! It's totally not right at all. And, it's not fair that Sony Music and Legacy Recordings can keep promoting Mariah like she is wrongly called "the queen of Christmas" because of one incredibly overplayed song every year?! how can people say "My Heart Will Go On" was overplayed, and not say "AIWFCIY" is overplayed?! That utterly baffles me!!!!!!!! :confused1:

For the 25th anniversary of Mariah's "Merry Christmas" album four years ago, here's what Sony Music and Legacy Recordings released: A special 2 disc 25th anniversary deluxe edition album with the original songs, and with unreleased songs, remixes, live recording tracks.

And, what has Team Celine released this year for Celine's 25th Anniversary... a new deluxe Anniversary edition of "These Are Special Times"? Nope. New official audio lyric music videos released on Celine's YouTube channel? Nope. A new Anniversary remix of an amazing song from Celine's album like "Christmas Eve"? Nope. I've always thought should have been a radio single, and is just as good and catchy as AIWFCIY

Anyone else agree?

Team Celine has only released an updated playlist with mostly other artists songs posted on Spotify, and a social media post saying "Happy 25th Anniversary These Are Special Times". It's very sad how mistreated Celine's career legacy is. :xmas_sad:

It's actually VERY depressing to think of all the exciting promotion and marketing and releases by Celine's team that could be occurring but to then realize that it's all missed opportunities to promote one of the best-selling and critically acclaimed Christmas albums of all time with several classic, iconic songs, and other timeless songs that had all the potential to be very successful hits if only they were actually released and promoted and marketed.

On the upside, Brenda Lee hit #1, making her not only the oldest person to top the chart but also the longest period of time between a song's release and hitting #1

Rocking Around the Christmas Tree is always something mixed with joy and regret for me to delve into. All I Want is like a song for the crowd, but RATCT can hook me into a solitude. Love this!

My guess is that Celine made it very clear to Sony and everyone else that she doesn’t care anymore (she even said it multiple times in interviews) and will only do the bare minimum, and therefore they don’t support her anymore. I can’t think of another reason.

Well, to be fair, Spotify has grown every year in amount of users. Celine numbers are getting higher, but so is everyone else’s.

But there might be a reason why she doesn’t appear in a top40 Christmas songs charts. TAST is an album that made huge success as an album but it don’t have exactly a Christmas hit song. Both songs that made success out of it are not Christmas songs (IYA and TP) and one of them no one would dare to play anymore.

In streams era, the focus are on singles. People can play a single song 10, 20 times a week. They won’t do that to a whole album.

Happy Xmas (Was is Over) is getting some traction. If her team capitalizes on it, we might have a fighting chance in the next years. But, they won’t, as we know.
