Actually it’s kinda sad that you only become popular again because of Christmas. Imagine saying “defrosting”, and after christmas she will hide again. It’s like that’s it. See you again on Christmas

 

Céline doesn’t need that. And I’m happy that everytime she do a tour it’s always on top 5 touring and sold out. And not wait for a particular season just to sell out shows.

 

But quite honestly, this isn’t the only time Mariah sells well. She had a very successful book that people bought, and she puts out special things for her fans. You can dislike her all you want, but she does what she needs to remain visible.

She also has very good engagement on her social media compared to Celine. Which I used to not care so much about while Celine was still selling out shows all the time… but Celine’s team is going to need to figure out some new strategies to keep her music and legacy shining.

So those fans fights over literally nothing are quite ridiculous.

 

Obviously, this is not Celine or Mariah’s fault. The industry was always like that, focused on young artists. As much as they dedicated themselves we wouldn’t see big difference.

 

My issue with Celine and her team is that, when you get to that moment when it’s pointless to pursue charts, it’s time to dedicate yourself to more meaningful projects, focusing on your fans. Mariah does that. Although I believe she does not do to please her fans but because in the rest of the year, when general public doesn’t care much about her, she need them to boost her ego, so she gives them what they want. But, even so, they got things. They have albums, tours, Vegas, rarities, special boxes, special editions, new videos, old videos, revivals, song never sung live before, books, audiobooks, interviews and so on.

Why doesn't RC look after her social media accounts etc. and taking care of her legacy? He is smart and he studied Business/Marketing right? 🤔 I thought he learned sth. from Rene.

I don’t think it’s just for an ego boost. Mariah writes and produces most of her material, so she does have a more personal connection to it. She cares about it and wants it to be heard. Can’t fault her for that. And truth be told, the songs she pulls out of the vault are of quality. I was pleasantly surprised with the Music Box Anniversary Edition. I’m not a lamb by any means, but I do enjoy Mariah’s music up until a certain point.

Yeah the book - does she write books yearly? She may put out special things for her fans. Dislike her? Not really. The fans - Yes.

 

She does what she needs to remain visible. Yes, with collabs. Without this it doesn’t sell well. That enters “defrosting” season.

 

Celine should do collabs as well but she’s not a recording artist anymore compared to Mariah who always like to record songs on studio. Celine is more of a touring/concert artist now since A New Day.

Its nice to wish that one day maybe the Queen of X-mas title will backlash that people will grow tired of her inserting herself every winter season. There are already plenty of memes about how f***ing annoying it is that she starts promoting herself the second Halloween is over

Don't know if it was posted here, but the album was re-relased on CD this November and it replaces "I'm your angel" with "I met an angel (on Christmas day)". Last year this version was released on vinyl.

was listening to the radio canada program, about evolution of xmas songs - i was excited bc i thought omg, they will definitely talk about celine!

 

i can’t believe it - they didn’t mention celine’s iconic xmas album at all, not once…!!

i mean this is quebec radio and all they talked about mariah carey, wham and a bunch of modern singers… isn't it crazy?

Hopefully her team will work to increase its streaming numbers in the coming years.

I dont think it had anything to do with IYA. I think before the streaming era she did better but now with playlisting basically controlling the charts and an over saturation of xmas music the past 5 years shes fallen behind. Again that falls on her team who clearly dont care.

I’m still hoping they upload I Can’t Help Falling In Love to her YouTube as part of TCOML anniversary.

I mean…yes? But that’s not the same as writing a song, and sitting behind the boards producing it. Celine is the most amazing song interpreter there is in pop music. Anything she sings, it just sounds like she actually believes every word. Even if the lyrics relate nothing to her life (ie: This Time). Mariah writes her lyrics from a personal place. It’s one thing to feel a song, and another to live it. I’m not diminishing Celine’s own artistry for what she does. I’m just objectively saying she and Mariah are very different in their approaches.
