Oh Holy Night is also on more playlists this year on Spotify. Its on Christmas Pop with 2 million plus.

I meant certifications for the the album in the US. The song is currently getting around 60,000 streams a day worldwide. That means a miniscule amount is from the US.

Yeah, the Mariah Christmas thing gets old. It's strange that her career has become so centered around Christmas.

 

My Queen of Christmas is Karen Carpenter. There's no topping her deep, warm voice. She and Nat King Cole are perfect voices for the holidays.

 

I always enjoy new holiday album releases too... Cher's new Christmas album is a lot of fun.

Why do you find it strange? I mean, what else could it be centered around? All her albums the past 10 years+ have been massive flops and that's why she's releasing new albums so infrequently. She cannot rely on touring either because she cannot sell out concerts, she's been discredited as a live singer.

 

Her best bet is to rely on her undeniably strong back catalogue.

I came on to moan about this too! So annoying.

 

Mariah’s Christmas Album is wonderful but it does make me jealous that Celine doesn’t have a signature Christmas song that is played so ubiquitously. Oh Holy Night is Céline’s most epic but not a song you’d hear on every radio station every other 3 minutes.

 

Céline’s voice is pure gold on TAST. They definitely don’t show it off as much as it deserves

The route they took with Céline’s Christmas album was more reverent and traditional. It’a not commercial enough to be played on loop at a shopping mall like AIWFCIY. Imagine if she’d recorded some more upbeat songs though - I bet they’d get a lot more play!
