Yes, exactly, that's what I mean. Although I'm not sorry for her. Overrated screaming bitchissima. But bless her for trying.

 

Céline on the other hand has nothing left to prove and it's nice to know she could have gone the easy route but well...she hasnt. I know she's full of contradictions but you gotta appreciate what is there and I think even if it turns out not to be true about TC being the first single I will live happily knowing that Céline wanted to make it first single just like with Miracle against all odds. It's a breath of fresh air in the strategy.

Unless the producers do something drastic with this song, and Celine does something extraordinary with the lyric, this will be musical SUICIDE!

 

 

THIS IS NOT "COMEBACK" MATERIAL!!! I don't care how you spin it. The melody is not catchy and the lyrics are bland! Ïf she's gonna do pseudo-rock, celine needs her own "Since you've been gone".

 

ROFL, are you serious? if this song has blant lyrics then what do 90% of her english songs have?

as for the music..i learnt the song by heart with the 1st listen so i think its as catchy as it gets, it IS her "since you've been gone".if this isn't something Celine should sing then i don't know what is...

Do we know it was Celine who chose TC as the first single? Maybe it was Sony or Rene. I mean think of what kind of marketing gimmick they could have on their hands if her first song was Taking Chances.

 

It just seems to go against what Rene was saying. If she wants to release another Miracle then fine (well not really fine, lol). But Rene said he wants to make her relevant again in today's musical climate and that this album will be as important for her career as Incognito was for her French career. Taking Chances isnt really taking very much of a chance (and you know the critics will be using this line in their reviews).

 

Again, though....we dont know what the musical arrangement is for Celine's version of TC. Maybe its edgier or something.

Tal, we don't know of course but but but I don't think Sony would choose something like that for the first single. I can't tell you but it smells Céline - in a positive way. I don't think she can be Céline and go BIG BANG at once - she played it safe with ANDHC single choices as well. This time it's rocky and edgy indeed, TC does classify for that category in my opinion. At least for her. haha

Well I for once won't comment on the song untill I heard Céline's version of it! You don't know what they did to it! Maybe they made it more edgy, maybe more balladly... maybe it's a completly different song! but it just happens to have the same title! As for covers being choosen as a first single TPOL is one of her signature songs till date! You can't be really sure what sony, her team and Céline herself wants, maybe a small 'hit' to get the attention and then maybe BANG the best song of the new album... I dunno... It could be that they don't wanna shoot all the amo before Céline's done with AND and really can promote the english Album!

 

The reason was released first from LTAL, IMO that was something different for Céline back then, that was rock and I think one of the best songs of the album, and still it flopped! You can never be sure how the music industry works! Think twice was number one in the UK for what? 7 weeks? In the US it didn't got higher then 90 on the airplay chart!

My concern I suppose is that the world (it seems) is hyped about Celine coming back with a new sound and direction and the first single is a cover. That just seems a bit disappointing to me.

I for one don't care if Céline records a cover or not... Of course I want Céline to be orginal! But I also think Céline did an amazing job with FIY, TPOL, IACBTMN, IDAN, RNVF, IYAMT, NB etc etc... All I want in a song is Céline sounding amazing and nailing the song down!

the song is not old...it was written a few months ago. its not "i knew i loved you" . it IS a new sound

Exactly. And sorry, but SHE NEEDS this album to get the more attention it's possible. She wants to do a world tour of 1 year. She wants the whole world to know that she is back. So... a #1 selling album and a top 10 single woudn't be bad.

I never said it was old thank you.

 

Besides all covers can be completely different to the original, that much is obvious, so it may well end up sounding like something brand new or it could sound exactly the same as something she's done before. We'll see when we hear Celine's version.

I said for Céline back then, that was rock I didn't call it a rock song per se... and mind you it was written for Aerosmith... that's a rock band right? For Céline terms I think TR classifies as erm rock... but in broader terms soft rock
