Celine has NEVER sung rock.. A song with electrical guitar isnt called a rock song, its just an edgy one.

The Reason is soft pop rock, just like almost all Beatles, Elves songs. Linkin Park songs are not really rock songs, but Rap Metal, that's not the original rock style.

Now i know that celine is not madonna etc, but i sooo hope that sony will promote this cd BIG time... i'm afraid that nobody will pay attention to her when madonna is there at the same time...

they havent played celine since maybe 6 years... madonna was everywhere the last 2 years, and i'm afraid that sony cant do that for celine... i wonder how they will manage her second come-back...

Sorry, but Celine wont have a great atention. Madonna and Mariah will release their new albuns in oct/nov too. And sure their songs will be BIG, beats... Celine has no chance.

And as far as the musical direction of the first single is concerned I'm absolutely startled that some of the fans here don't see that Céline has been a Soft rock artist all the way to Golgotha! So what if she has been promoted as a balladeer but her fans should know better. And that she releases Taking Chances shouldn't be a surprise to ANY hardcore fans of hers as guitar riffs and soothing vocals = Céline Dion hidden all over every English album of hers. It is only a strategy now that she chose to actually EMPHASIZE this side of hers so that other ppl see indeed she has such musical side there and been embracing it for almost 18 years now on every album of hers!

Well, Celine wasn't stuck in Vegas when she released ANDHC. Post 1999, Sony has sort of given up on Celine's career...and that totally is kinda foolishness on their part. But lets hope that they dont screw up this new album

Well, Celine wasn't stuck in Vegas when she released ANDHC. Post 1999, Sony has sort of given up on Celine's career...and that totally is kinda foolishness on their part. But lets hope that they dont screw up this new album

 

Believe me I'm the first person to bash Sony but I believe the problems started when they decided to release GTSW as the 3rd single from ANDHC. Prior to that they had shown great interest in that album in my opinion, they got ANDHC and IA out there, got the video played and the album sold very well. But I agree with you, since then their efforts for Celine have been shocking.

Celine came to the UK in 2002 as well as places like Italy and France to support this album. She did a lot of promo on US television too and with the CBS special and everything else, ANDHC had quite a lot of promo.

i can't believe how much i agree with you on this one

 

i don't understand why some ppl want her 1st single to be a timbaland song...they can go on Mariah's or Madonna's side if that's what they want.Taking Chances is so Celine and the 1st single should be "celine" and not copycating her competitors' lousy music. Although i doubt that a Celine song written or produced by Timbaland will be what some of you want it to be. Celine will never be Mariah or Madonna and THANK GOD for that. i have a lot of faith in Taking Chances, its a very good song, for its genre (which i love) and it will be different than the usual trash the others sing. not to mention a big improvement from her last few albums.AT LAST Celine seems to emphasize on her soft rock side as siur said, and that side is the reason i fell in love with her and gave her more attention than her competitors. the 1st time i listened to a Celine record (probably one of the 1st cds i listened to from any artist , together with Savage Garden's debut album) it was LTAL and the opening track "the reason" was enough to WOW me.

Plus de 230 millions d'albums vendus dans le monde, ce qui la classe à la 13e place des plus gros vendeurs de disque dans l'histoire de la musique. Plus de 2 millions de spectateurs pour A New Day, son spectacle au Caesar's Palace de Las Vegas depuis mars 2003. Le titre de 20e personnalité mondiale, attribué par le très sérieux et réputé magazine nord-américain Forbes... Et c'est bien cette femme de 39 ans, née à Charlemagne, Québec, qui s'apprête à faire le grand écart !

 

Oui, Céline Dion va faire sensation en novembre prochain (très exactement, le lundi 19) puisqu'elle sortira alors son onzième album en anglais. Il va y avoir un sacré séisme dans le petit monde de la chanson, de la variété sirupeuse : pour ce nouvel album, celle qu'on surnomme la diva du Québec s'est acoquinée avec un lascar a.k.a. (connu comme) Timbaland, qui en a assuré la production.

 

Dans la maison de disques parisienne, on ne cache pas la surprise : "Vous imaginez, vous, la nouvelle Céline avec de grosses chaînes en or jusqu'au nombril ? On n'arrive pas à y croire, elle aussi se met au bling bling..."

 

Longtemps, on a voulu croire qu'il s'agissait seulement d'une rumeur. Mais voilà, d'après des confidences, la chanteuse vivrait assez mal ce qui, aujourd'hui, ressemble à un échec : les faibles ventes (à l'échelle dionesque, tout de même !) de son récent album en français, D'Elles. Certes, Céline Dion viendra en France en octobre pour (tenter de) relancer les ventes de cet album et a accepté, avec l'Australienne Kylie Minogue, d'être la marraine de la septième édition de la Star Academy, mais on dit qu'elle sera de ce côté de l'Atlantique surtout pour promouvoir ses concerts du printemps 2008 (entre autres, du 13 au 16 mai à Anvers)...

 

Toujours dans les bureaux de la maison de disques, on dit aussi qu'aujourd'hui, la carrière en anglais pèse bien plus lourd que celle en français pour la Québécoise. Aux Etats-Unis, on la tient pour la fille crooneuse de Barbra Streisand et on est prêt à lui accorder toutes les fantaisies, toutes les folies.

 

Certains rappellent même que sur son deuxième album anglais, Céline Dion avait collaboré avec Prince !

 

Alors, pourquoi pas le grand écart avec, à la production d'un nouvel album, un lascar du hip-hop, Timbaland... Mais surtout, avec Timbaland, c'est la quasi assurance du hit, voire du super tube. En effet, c'est lui qu'on retrouve à la production de deux tsunami musicaux pour 2006 et 2007 : Justin Timberlake et Nelly Furtado. C'est lui aussi qui avait travaillé avec Björk, Missy Elliott, Jay-Z, Ludacris ou encore The Pussycat Dolls. Il est considéré comme un des plus grands producteurs, au même titre que Brian Eno, Phil Spector ou Norman Whitfield, et on lui accorde une qualité essentielle : il a inventé puis imposé un son Timbaland immédiatement identifiable.

 

C'est lui également qui a réquisitionné deux auteurs réputés dans le monde du hip hop et du R'n'B pour l'écriture de quelques chansons du nouvel album de Céline Dion : Ne-Yo. But today's music lovers love BEATS In today's generation, Celine is a boring, old and ugly woman....this is what I hate about the people who say that. First of al, they want skin and flesh, second, they want some non-sensical music by some singer who cant sing (not mentioning Mariah or Beyonce - they both got pipes)

 

But nowadays, people are not ready to listen to Celine. They either think its too gayish or too out-of-date to be listening to Celine.

 

Lets just hope that this new English album would do something to reveive Celine's dormant (if not dead) career
