Hey everyone 😊 I have a question, especially for those who don't speak (or aren't fluent in) French. Since I don't speak French, I usually listen to the song while reading the translation at the same time. It's always been a bit challenging for me 😅, but this time I'm finding it much harder to follow the lyrics and keep up with the translation. Is anyone else feeling the same, or is it just me? 🤔💜

If you're talking about "Bonjour, Pardon, Merci," there are parts where Céline speaks rapidly—like a rapper—and it really is harder to keep up.
I remember when I bought my first album in French. I didn't like it very much at first; I found the language very different. But over time, I got used to it, and nowadays, I actually prefer songs in French over those in English. French songs generally have a poetic quality—they aren't entirely straightforward, which is something I really like.

I never critisized non French speakers for speaking in French in a way or another. But even for French canadians (I asked some of my friends there), her prononciation is weird. 
 

I’m just telling my opinion. Let’s not trash French people please.

I'd like to apologize for generalizing in my previous comment. That wasn't my intention. It's just that, sometimes, I feel some comments go beyond normal criticism and become unnecessarily harsh.

Of course, nobody is obligated to like the song, and that's completely fine. But I think there's a difference between expressing an opinion and constantly repeating the same negativity. For example, many of us have said that Céline's delivery feels very fast, making the lyrics harder to follow, but that doesn't mean we're saying she can't sing anymore.

To be honest, comments like that sometimes make this forum difficult to enjoy. Anyway, that's all I'll say about it. Let's get back to looking forward to the higher-quality version! 😊

Hopefully, the September release will bring the community together a bit more. And above all, let's be grateful that Céline is still singing. Whether each of us thinks her voice is better or worse than before is a matter of personal opinion, but let's not forget that a few years ago many of us genuinely believed we might never hear her sing again. 💜

Besides, I always get a little nervous posting here because I rely on ChatGPT for the translation. I keep wondering, "Is this really what I wrote... or am I accidentally saying something completely different?" 😂

I’m just going to hazard a guess that the person who has posted this on YouTube has sped up the track so it’s not picked up by automatic blocking and removed because it’s not yet officially available in certain regions, it’s definitely faster than the clip the redheads posted earlier.

except she just doesn't sound like that on this song at all. I get the sense some people are just looking for something to be negative about and now we've latched onto "tunnel voice." what she demonstrated in that interview was a thin, forced tone with limited projection. you can go back and find some very extreme examples of that during the years she suffered the most from SPS symptoms. a classic example would be ABM during the TCWT the night she lost her voice -- that was her singing in the tunnel. 

I think what we can say here is that she still isn't at 100% strength belting. other aspects of her voice have recovered better than her chest voice. but it isn't that same thin, reedy, one dimensional sound, it's just a bit tired. I don't know how else to explain it, but it doesn't sound bad at all and actually reminds me a lot of the belts on Je ne vous Oublie pas

I gave in. I had a listen. 

I see what people mean with that "hot potato voice" moments, but it doesn't bother me anymore as much as TLS or Y&I did (and the whole Miracle project lol). Plus we know now why. Bless her. I like the sped up bits quite a lot. When the second chorus hits I got a slight goosebump moment and when the backing vocals, that almost sound like a choir, kicked in, the goosies were up and running. I love the second verse and the ad libs are soaring at some points. And I agree with the merci. It sounds so young and crisp. The only thing I didnt like (and I'm nitpicking here) is the very last adlib after the last "merciii".

Céline is the singer whose voice has changed to most during her career and I don’t agree with this « age effect » Elton John, Mick Jagger or Johnny Hallyday have and had a fabulous strong voice while old.  I love Céline for her voice :  looking at her whole adult career 80 pourcent of the songs are sh…t. You can’t compare men’s aging voices to women’s aging voices. Men go through their vocal prime later in life than women do. Men’s vocal prime is usually in their  late 30s-40s. Women’s vocal prime is usually late 20s-30s. Women also go through much heavier hormonal changes than men do as they age, which contributed to vocal changes. Celine took exceptional care of her voice and had some fabulous moments even through her 50s. Now that she’s near 60, and had to go through dramatic vocal rehabilitation, she’s going to sound different, and use her voice differently.

Yes, they pitched her voice a little bit, but after all I think she sounds great for a nearly 60 years old woman with SPS.

You are right : just take Ginette  Reno and Mireille Mathieu, both 80 and more … their voices f’did not change that much.

it’s Céline, I didn’t know the words but little riffs at the ends of the chorus it was like hearing a version of her we haven’t had since maybe 2010. It’s amazing.

I’ve just been able to sit and listen to the song in full HQ audio (thank you NordVPN lmao) with my Sennheiser head phones and I think I can chalk up quite a few of my issues with what I heard to the lower quality version that had been uploaded to YouTube this afternoon. Yeah the pitch correction is still definitely there but it isn’t as harsh and it was there, and the overall sound is far more lush in the official release. I have to say the head voice/falsetto notes that come in the bridge and final chorus are so incredibly beautiful, my only issue now is that because they’re background vocals she won’t be able to sing them when she performs it live haha. I can also say after having a proper listen in very high quality that while I still find some of it a bit too… I don’t know, foggy for me tonally anyway, there is a depth and strength to her voice that I haven’t heard in years, so I am in this case very very happy to eat my words and admit I was wrong! Can’t wait to see this live, as I said before I just know Scott’s live arrangement will be heavenly.

Her tone reminds me of “you and I” vocals so much… and I remember at the time we had that helium balloon live in Vegas A New Day album where they choose the absolute worst vocals from that residency but on YAI and IAGLTOW she sounded great. 
 

I think to have vocals similar to 2004 in 2026 and a syndrome is 1000000%  a win.
