Don’t know if she could keep it hidden or not, but realistically I’m sure she’d get to Paris at least 1 week early to adjust. Also a Law Roach appearance in France could be a spoiler if we see him.

Countries organizing the Olympics usually take that as an opportunity to promote their culture, arts, etc. Having Celine makes total sense, but Dua Lipa I don't know. Maybe they just want a big current artist.

 

Well, if rumors are correct the Dua Lipa performance is about highlighting Cerrone and his disco song Supernature.

(And as already noted, Celine performed in Atlanta.)

Celine isn’t American and Bill Clinton wanted her at the Atlanta games.

 

Celine was dominating the American charts in 1996. She was living in USA, she was singing in English and she was the biggest voice recording in English at that time, so there was a connection. Same with Gloria Estefan that year, they wanted to connect with the Latino community living in the USA. I would understand if France want to have an international megastar that they would call Taylor Swift maybe, but Dua Lipa I think is random, that's why I was asking if there is a connection with France that I don't know of.

I would like to understand how a singer who lost her voice ( or kind of) would re- appear for her first stage appearance in years not on some random TV show to "warm up" but in one of the most watched events.

She would most likely pre-record it which is probable and fine to do because its a huge event. Also as long as she is not lipping to the original version then most people wouldnt know she was lipping. If its a new cover we have never heard before then no one would know.

I think she was just leaving the hotel to fly home.

All this press and speculation is rooted in like 1 or 2 actual sources (and not great ones…) that everyone else is republishing without their own reporting.

I, for one, hope they stop so as not to ruin any surprise (if it is indeed in the cards).

1. She didn’t release the Vegas dates yet until she shows on live tv she’s good to go. She confirmed YES it’s Vegas but the dates not yet - that’s hush hush. I think it will be Olympic performance and boom Vegas dates !

 

2. The vinyl release of the soundtrack is August 9. Could just be a coincidence yes. But why 1.5 months after the soundtrack is need out?

I don’t think they are waiting to announce Celine because of her health…. I think if Celine is the one, which I think she is, it’s because they NEVER announce these things… that would kill the moment… it’s less than 3 weeks, we’ll know soon enough.

I think you could be right on point 1. If the Olympics happens and Vegas is planned, it makes sense to follow up the performance with dates

You should’ve been reading the Hoda topic, I believe Scielle and few of us put that together when it was announced.

Celine was doing abc with every major interview with Deborah Robert’s and this time she jumped ship to Hoda and NBC.
