Haha this sentence by a lot of you makes me smile. Maybe it is because she started to make such average and insignificant songs in her French repertoire since a long time ago too.

 

Once again a meh song, with absolutely no ambition, and absolutely generic.

 

Well, you are allow to feel whatever you want about. For me, it’s about the fact the her voice it’s more clear and the production less robotic in her latest francophone albums in compare with her latest anglophone ones. She sounds like Celine, not a robotic version of herself.

 

Opinions a side, I find hard to believe anyone would found Encore Un Soir "average and insignificant". Clearly, to believe that, a person must not know anything about what Celine went through the previous years.

Encore un soir is certainly one of her worst album ever. The song itself is ok though

Do we think "Love of My Life" is a studio version of her Queen cover?

I would not read lack of promo as an indication of poor health. Even if the treatments went well I do think Celine would want to be involved in promo or undertake any work that would put her under pressure. Point is she might be doing well (given the circumstances), but simply choosing to rest a bit more which is perfectly normal. Just my two cents.

 

I think one "live" performance where she lipped in GMA will be so perfect!!!!

but still Céline is listed as a performer of the Freddie Mercury Original :hmm: So maybe there's a recording out there

Since I heard the song, I have thinking a lot. I always do, but now more than ever. As I said before, it has moved me a lot, I haven't cried in a long time. I love Céline for many reasons,she only can bring countless feelings in such a short time. I am very proud of her, behind this epic artist there is a great human being. And here is the accomplishment of her enormous talent, her beautiful voice and the way she sings her songs. Her voice is sublime in many ways...even sighing she is wonderful.

I have goose bumps.

Céline is always surprising me with her unlimited talent.

Very soon she will be on stage again. We have a lot of love to give her and her to us.

Keep enjoying the song.

Interestingly, this track is in B Major which is quite a rare key. I think that's partly why it feels so unique.

 

Perhaps the most famous similar song in this key is "Yellow" by Coldplay, which actually uses lots of headvoice also.

Think how much the lyrics fit her life. I had a hard time getting the song to stop playing in my head so I could fall asleep. :bonk:

Same here! Whenever I sit, walk or going anywhere, my subconsciousness urges my mouth to "you don't have to move a mountain..."

It is definitely an ear worm and although I did play it about 65 times yesterday, I still want to hear it more. Mother cried at it. Boyfriend thinks it’s sublime. Mission accomplished. I’d love to see and hear her sing it live. And I have hope we will.

No ambition? Hope you realise this is the first time Celine releases a Soundtrack album, the first time she stars in a movie and the first time she acts as an executive producer. This era is definitely ambitious and so is the song. It has been a good 20 years since we got such silk vocals in an English album. :D
