I really like the song! It’s so great to hear new music.

 

It sounds like it could be a song from a Broadway musical, which isn’t a bad thing. That’s just what it sounds like to me.

Now that I’ve listened to it a few times, it’s such an ear worm. I can’t quit listening. I love that it’s not a loud power ballad, it’s all about the lyrics. If we are blessed with seeing her live again, I know she would really put her heart into singing this song

I think she really approached this song with a very specific interpretation: very gentle, empathetic, like talking to someone who's in a very dark place. It's a very humble vocal, but she does some interesting things with it; she conveys the sense that she feels what the person she is singing to feels. It's like a lullaby for an adult. You can feel the sincerity.

 

The vocal technique she uses is also very rustic in a way. It's unpolished. Even the vibrato is deliberately "in the throat" -- it's a breathless vocal, quite literally at times. You can feel that her heart is in her throat.

 

It's a classic Celine vocal, not because it's bombastic -- that's not what makes her Celine. It's her artistry that makes her the legend that she is.

I really love the song It's emotional, even more as the lyrics echo her predicament.

 

As most of you, I was surprised it's her head voice all the way through the song, but I liked it! It's also been a long time since I didn't really have her pronunciation triggering me. It was a great first listen. Only complaint I may have is that I couldn't hear her well during the bridge because of the gospel choir being too much put forward.

 

I haven't seen the lyric video yet but do you think all of Celines scenes from the film are in the lyric video? Tempted to not watch it if it means no surprises on seeing the film

 

I chose not to watch it because I've seen too much in the trailer already!

I like the song too! I'm sure we can all agree that Celine's voice has evolved a lot in the past 10 years. In the Courage tour there was a very noticeable difference between the parts of songs that were live and the parts that were playback. So it looks like there wasn't a recorded message from Celine on Good Morning America, just a "first look of the video." Bummer! I wish we would get something from her to promote the new movie/soundtrack!
