scielle Posted May 5, 2022 at 01:00 AM Posted May 5, 2022 at 01:00 AM (edited) Another legacy artist doc from the team behind the Celine documentary. Sony is clearly building this out as a way to work deep catalog. (In fact, they're hiring for a VP on the team if anyone here's interested - https://boards.green...obs/6000100002.) It seems they have several such docs in development, and more to come, and they bring in award-winning indie directors-for-hire to execute the individual projects. smw Posted July 15, 2022 at 12:45 AM Posted July 15, 2022 at 12:45 AM (edited) I'm curious if there's going to be some big reveal in this documentary... Something that would not only surprise casual fans / a general audience... but would surprise us hardcore fans too. I'm hoping for some insight into Celine's life since Rene passed away since she's pretty much been a closed book for years now. I also hope it does a great job at showcasing what makes Celine a singular talent... her VOICE. And her international career. And the unique journey of building such a monumental career with Rene. And it would be great if they included fascinating chapters in her career, such as the Phil Spector sessions. Including moments like that would appeal to and reach a wider audience than just Celine fans. I would like for it to cement Celine's legacy as truly unique talent... who rose up to be one of the greatest entertainers of all time... and resurrected then dominated Las Vegas. I still feel like, in some ways, she doesn't get the credit she deserves for that voice of hers and all that she has accomplished with tremendous work ethic. I want it to give us all chills! And then she told examples for a good communication. 1 Quote

But many here assumed the article was fake, so I don’t know. There was absolutely no talk about Celine giving such intimate details. Normally, the media would pick it up immediately, but at that time no one even mentioned it, so it was assumed that this article was fake. Quote

She said the marriage wasn't always perfect. In 2001 after RC was born she focused 100% on her baby and even said she almost neglected Rene. She assumed she was difficult at the time. Another crisis was at the end of 2007 because Celine wanted a husband and she felt like she only had a manager, all because Rene decided that after Las Vegas there had to be a world tour. But it was a great marriage! 2 Quote My Webpage >>> TRIBUTE TO CELINE DION

I am not expecting her to say, oh we had knock down, dragged out fights, ect. I don't want that. That was just an example. I just hope we don't get the fluff we usually get from her. I still feel like, in some ways, she doesn't get the credit she deserves for that voice of hers and all that she has accomplished with tremendous work ethic. I want it to give us all chills! I don't know... my expectations for this project have been somewhat tempered after I saw Irene looking to hire a producer for it. (There was a posting on LinkedIn several months ago, just weeks before the last tour cancellation announcement. Didn't mention the project by name, but why else would Irene's little, indie production company in Portland, Oregon, be looking for a producer fluent in Quebecois French and able to handle "sensitive and confidential subject matter" for a "high profile project"? It was pretty obvious...) Anyway, goes to show this is not a passion project. It's not one Irene developed or came to as a fan or as someone fascinated by Celine's place in pop culture. She's a director for hire. This is a Sony project (on of many like it, as evidenced by the Sony job posting I linked to earlier, for a VP specialized in exactly this kind of content - docs about Sony legacy artists). So, Sony seems to be just churning these out, coming up with the concept (so imagine it'll be heavy centered on her English catalog, since that's clearly the point - to showcase it and bump up her streaming numbers), and hiring third-party directors to helm it. They, in turn, hire their own staff for the project, but doubtful it'll be anyone with a particular vested interest in telling the story. It's just a job. A cool one, no doubt, but jut a job. Granted, Irene is clearly an accomplished documentarian and journalist. This isn't going to be some glib MTV/ Much Music superficial collage doc. But it's also not going to be the deep cut, deep dive treatment many of us long for.I hope to be wrong. (By the way, at the time of that job posting, the term was ASAP and for about a year. But of course that was before the latest tour cancellation. So I imagine now pushed out further. In any case, once they go into production, it'll be a year of work, and then of course post production etc, so we may not actually see this thing materialize for a while.) PuraVida Posted July 19, 2022 at 10:57 AM Posted July 19, 2022 at 10:57 AM Presumably Celine has been confined to Vegas and Montreal the last two years, without going very far. Not super exciting one might say, but actually the Celine at home and doing normal daily stuff around town in the one we don't know super well. I imagine it will mostly be clips of Celine being interviewed at her home, plus a ton of footage from the past and recounting the life story. The reason I am most happy about the documentary is I hope they show us archival clips and performances we have not seen before (in good quality too). 1 Quote

PuraVida Posted July 20, 2022 at 02:22 PM Posted July 20, 2022 at 02:22 PM What would be interesting is if they made it a a documentary about how a globally famous pop star recovers from a major health setback to rejoin the world and her fans at the highest level. From sickness to comeback. Not sure thats what we will get. But truth is that's the interesting angle or "story" of where Celine is at in her life right now. Quote

That sounds like an “interesting” storyline for a documentary. A bit like Lady Gaga’s documentary on getting ready and fit for her Super Bowl halftime show. But I wish it’ll show us a bit more of before the setback (a reflection on her career so far, going all the way back to 1981; not many people know that outside Canada or France). And then follow her back on tour in Europe in 2023 for a bit and focus on how she sees the future. But I guess we’ll have to wait and see… Quote
