Celine recording English songs that she doesn’t know the meaning of!

I wonder who she thinks the “man” is when she sings “Call The Man”….. :hmm:

Really? I mean, every time she records a song on studio. She asks about the lyrics she doesn’t know and asking the meaning of it and all to the songwriter/producers.

It's unfortunate that Rene (RIP) isn't be around to be a talking head in this documentary

Anyone else. See her "Skies of LA comment" in 2007.

What does that have to do with Celine knowing about her life?

What was the comment about Skies of L.A. that makes us think she doesn’t know what it’s about? I feel like it’s pretty straight forward

I didn't know she commented on this song

There was an interview back when the album was released. I won’t be able to tell you what or where but Celine famously said she didn’t know what the song was about. She thought it was about the pretty LA skies or something like that. She clearly did not understand the meaning of the song. It was talked about quite a bit on the forum back then.

She forgot that she had already done a song about Los Angeles. Her catalog is not that vast.

Yes, she thought Skies of L.A. is about palm trees and she was surprised that the song is about pollution.

I thought it’s about Solar System. Shocked.

Sony music Canada is also involved so I’m sure at the very minimum someone from French speaking Canada will be a contributor in this process.

I thought it was obvious lol

Interesting. I thought it was about disillusionment of American culture. Guess it could be about pretty skies and palm trees though, if that’s what she thinks :giggle:

We’ve suspected for a long time she doesn’t know what half the English songs she sings are about. Like, surely she doesn’t know “Another One Bites the Dust” is about a breakup and partly inspired by the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre lol

To be fair, I doubt many regular music listeners know that either! It's like when people use the classic stalking anthem Every Breath You Take as their wedding song...

Yes, I also thought that Skies of L.A. is about the Western society/culture in general.

I still can’t get over how the first track on Celine Dion’s debut English album is about cheating / having an affair- I’m not sure she knew the meaning of that one either or if she did, it’s an odd placement.

If There Was Any Other Way

Sorry I know I'm late

Guess I lost all track of time

Started walking and couldn't stop

Turning it over in my mind

Trying to make some sense of it

Trying to make the pieces fit

I thought I covered my tracks so well

But now he says he knew about it from the start

Yeah he knew about us all along…

Whitney's Saving All My Love For You is also about having an affair. I think you take it too seriously. It's a Pop song.

Like Rihanna’s Work song. Who can guess the meaning of that, right? It’s so hard.

Dion describes the song as “a little jewel,” but it’s clear that even after recording it, she was captured by its melody, not its message. “I didn’t know that it was about environmental things, to be honest. It made me think of palm trees,” she said. “And that’s OK -- songs mean different things to people.”

Well if she didn't when she recorder it, Hopefully she did when she filled the video in New Orléans.

Lol I remember this same kind of conversation regarding the lyrics of The Reason and the "I'm going down" line.
I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.

The song is not technically about pollution, rather than her seeing the hazy skies (caused by pollution) as a metaphor for how she sees her future. She doesn’t know where her life is taking her. The song is not a direct call to pollution in Los Angeles.

I feel like Unison the album actually tells a comprehensive story.

(If There Was) Any Other Way - About cheating, like you said

If Love Is Out The Question - Telling the story about how she was seduced by and fell in love with the man she was having an affair with, only to realize it was just a physical relationship disguised as love.

Where Does My Heart Beat Now - She broke up with both her partner and left the affair she was having. Now she doesn’t know where her heart lies.

The Last To Know - Talks about how her ex is now seeing someone else, but she is clearly very similar to her. Which shows that he is not over her either.

I’m Loving Every Moment With You - Now her ex is cheating on his current partner with Celine. “You’re hidden in a place that’s safe and true” “in our silence, looking in your eyes”

Love By Another Name - Now they’re grappling with their own affair. Trying to make sense of what’s going on and why they can’t stay away from each other.

Unison - I mean…self explanatory lol

I Feel Too Much - She has fallen back in love with him hard. And now she’s expressing her feelings, after their time of tumultuous affair and keeping it a secret.

If We Could Start Over - The conversation they have about the possibility of getting back together.

Have A Heart - Even though he cheated on his current lover, he isn’t sure he can trust his ex to be in a relationship. And this is her final plea.
