If it’s just an ordinary docu like only will be shown in TV/Netflix/Apple TV+…. It wouldn’t be this massive.. the amount of buzz about making this docu with an oscar director and with Sony.

 

They could just have said Netflix blah blah or Apple Tv+ blah blah..

I doubt it.

 

I'd normally be wary of a doc or biopic that's "official" or "authorized", and especially one produced by her label, because the likely result is a fawning, self-serving, and sycophantic portrait.

But I don't think that's the case here. Irene Taylor Brodsky is a real, serious documentarist and journalist. I trust she can do something thoughtful and well-rounded here

 

Trust me I'm over the moon about this official doc. Finally! It'll be fantastic to learn, see, hear something new. However her "open book" story is stuck in an eternal perpetual loop. Hopefully it'll be broken.

Because there’s demand for docs and biopics right now. They’re a dime a dozen, as all the new streaming platforms look for differentiating new content. It’s a golden age for documentaries.

 

Also, I imagine, because her material isn’t selling and Sony needs to generate buzz to prop it up.

It was announced around the same time as “The Power of Love/Aline”

How I liked TTEOTW, AND BTS, VH1 Behind The Music.

 

It's time to have a docu that goes way more into details than just the regular bio stuff, or the MHWGO talk again.

 

I want to get to know her really, how she feels, what she thinks.

Not what she is supposed to say to look good for the audience.

 

And I love me some new footage from the past

 

 

 

Exactly. TTEOTW, For Keeps, My Story My Dream all suffered from this problem.

 

Also, “Céline-Sony industrial complex” is getting added to my lexicon! 😆

Also possible is that it is mostly done, they have so much footage from 40 years, and the last 10 years, there was also a lot of shooting going on without any release (2017 tour, vegas 2011, 2015. 2019) etc. Maybe it all was for the documentary already?

I hope it gets released on UHD Blu-ray, the format is in dire need of music-related releases. Plus any never seen before and remastered footage would be awesome.

IMO It's also the perfect opportunity to officially promote some of the best live performances of Celine's career. The millennials need to know Celine at her prime.

I would love for this documentary to include these performances and I hope it happens:

Les Blues du Businessman, live at Juno Awards 1999;

Not to be a Debbie Downer here but I’m kinda conflicted about how I feel about this project. If this is anything like through te eyes of the world, I can’t wait to see it. But the part about the side of her we’ve never seen has me concerned. I hope they don’t give in to sensationalism and perhaps reveal too much about her life and her late husband, stuff I don’t necessarily want to know

It’s not a bio-pic. It’s a Documentary. “Bohemian Rhapsody” also while nominated, lost out for Best Picture to “Green Book.”

I think the recent preponderance of Celine movies has a lot to do with it. Also, THE FANS HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR THIS. And thirdly, it seems like her recent court documents indicate this is the type of stuff she wants her team to procure and execute for her.

Anyway, for those interested in Irene's prior work to get a flavor of the kind of storytelling she does, many of her films are behind the HBO paywall, but this one, a 2007 production about her deaf parents, is on YouTube.

It won the Audience Award at Sundance in 2007 as well as a Peabody.

I presume it’ll be several months. They’ll want to film her now getting ready for Vegas, on stage, they’ll probably go to Charlemagne and Quebec, maybe France and who knows else. I don’t foresee this coming out till at least late 2022.
