remykyes Posted December 27, 2022 at 06:57 PM Author Posted December 27, 2022 at 06:57 PM It's also Christmas weekend. People are traveling, and shopping, and spending time with family, rather than going to the movies. It's also the 6th night of Chanukah, and Shabbat starts on Friday at sun down. This was a stupid weekend to try and open a movie. Also we had a massive storm that obliterated most of the country. But tbh, I didn't know anyone anticipating watching. It would've done better in streaming format. To be fair, the storm was a last minute addition to Christmas weekend but it didn't help matters in regards to I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Avatar 2. You really can't plan for weather when scheduling a film release. But as CelinesDIVO5 said, it was incredibly stupid for them to release I Wanna Dance With Somebody Christmas weekend + during Hanukah. Honestly, December really isn't a great time to release movies (Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza, plus numerous other non-mainstream holidays, parties, etc.) unless you've got a huge blockbuster on your hands (see TITANIC) and even though Avatar 2 was released the weekend before, it's not doing to hot in the numbers game either, which is a bit shocking. (Yes, it's about to hit $1 billion, but Avatar 2 was projected to be making way more $$$ than it is now.) Quote New Signature Coming Soon!

We actually knew about the storm about a week in advance to Christmas, which had people scrambling to change flights in order to escape the East Coast before it hit and canceled outgoing flights later in the week. It was an absolute mess. On Thursday, Dec 22, there were 5000 flights canceled all over the country. It was insane. Seems like Titanic is going down to the 4th place. Quote
PuraVida Posted January 8, 2023 at 05:37 PM Posted January 8, 2023 at 05:37 PM The movie box office numbers are always impressive, but you must remember to factor in inflation. With inflation taken into account, I still think Titanic beats out both Avatar movies (but I haven't checked to confirm). Quote

Oficially, Avatar beats Titanic even when inflation is taken into consideration. However, Titanic is still #1 based on the number of tickets sold, by far. Quote

mirage Posted February 5, 2023 at 01:59 PM Posted February 5, 2023 at 01:59 PM Amazing finally one where Celine is involved! I'm also very curious about the documentary. I guess her illness and cancelations must changed of slowed down the process. It also gives the documentary a new direction I guess. The last year's there has been many documentaries about artists, and they are all so completely different. Can't wait to see what they created for Celine. 1 Quote
Ukrfan Posted March 6, 2023 at 10:11 PM Posted March 6, 2023 at 10:11 PM Oh, coincide, I think. Was announced in fall 2021, and they were hiring an associate producer earlier this year, for a ~9-month production (which I suspect is extended/ delayed). There was a post on Twitter from one of her songwriters who said she was suffering some of these symptoms as early as 2014 though… Could you share the tweet by that songwriter? Quote
AdrienneM Posted March 6, 2023 at 11:03 PM Posted March 6, 2023 at 11:03 PM She’s been suffering from various degrees of spasms since the late 90s, I really don’t think anything prior to a year or two before the announcement would be indicative of the condition. Then again, she was in the best physical shape of her life prior to the pandemic, so who knows. Quote

smw Posted March 7, 2023 at 05:12 AM Posted March 7, 2023 at 05:12 AM (edited) I seem to remember her looking very sick in early 2019 Yes, I was at the Ace Theatre event. I sat front row — and she was SO thin. I was concerned. She looked healthier in late 2019. Edited March 7, 2023 at 05:29 AM by smw 1 Quote

Then again, she was in the best physical shape of her life prior to the pandemic, so who knows. Simply having spasms is not an indication of SPS. My husband has muscle spasms from time to time, and I think many people do, but SPS is just so rare. We don't really know if her previous spasms were connected to this condition. And I agree, before the pandemic, she seemed alright... running around the stage in those heels. Hard to imagine she would have done that if she'd had something serious going on. 2 Quote
AdrienneM Posted March 7, 2023 at 01:25 PM Posted March 7, 2023 at 01:25 PM I seem to remember her looking very sick in early 2019 I mean late 2019 and early 2020 right before the pandemic she was absolutely ripped, was running around in 4/5 inch heels, more flexible than ever and was having the time of her life. So who knows what or when it started exactly. Quote

I wonder if it took Celine stopping completely and trying to restart that had her spasms taking over at that point. Quote

It's all sort of up in the air in that regard. I think it was adrenaline (and new projects) that kept her going after René died. But when the whole world stopped so abruptly, her body shot down too. I am sure this condition is something neurologic that you're born with, but I do believe that the stress and not being able to mourn properly over the deaths of René and her mum (and maybe even Daniël) came out during the pandemic and triggered the syndrome. I still can't imagine what she's going through right now and how she is doing psyically and mentally. It makes me beyond sad to think her life as a singer an performer ended in March 2020. I can't cope with the idea of never hearing her sing again and seeing her perform on stage again. 8 Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th
CourageCeline Posted March 7, 2023 at 05:18 PM Posted March 7, 2023 at 05:18 PM I mean even in Lockdown she was looking fine, running around, doing exercises and spending time out in nature. Probably it started in 2021? 1 Quote
nuts2you Posted March 7, 2023 at 09:54 PM Posted March 7, 2023 at 09:54 PM or could it be that the ICM deal that she was going though as well, maybe that was a trigger , but who Know's Quote
Dancing_Queen Posted March 7, 2023 at 10:07 PM Posted March 7, 2023 at 10:07 PM She did say in her statement that she'd been "sick for a very long time". So I wouldn't be surprised if she had been experiencing symptoms for much longer than we know, all the while 'self-medicating' with exercise and massages. Don't forget that loss of appetite/weightloss is often the first symptom. This could go as far back as 2017/2018. She's just the type that doesn't complain. 3 Quote
brendanm999 Posted March 7, 2023 at 10:32 PM Posted March 7, 2023 at 10:32 PM (edited) I think it most likely started in 2021, at some point between the Resorts World announcement and the cancellation. It's probably impossible to find out what caused her symptoms, but something that caused her immune system to overact (e.g., a virus or vaccination) could have triggered it. I hope we get some positive news soon, and that she has found a treatment that is working for her. It's still hard to believe that she's dealing with this. anewdayhascome Posted March 8, 2023 at 10:36 PM Posted March 8, 2023 at 10:36 PM It all started with her ear operation/infection in 2018, she came back with a weird look in Ashes video and since then she started to look skinny, and then unhealthy skinny especially in her fashion week outfits later on. mirage Posted March 9, 2023 at 11:42 AM Posted March 9, 2023 at 11:42 AM That 'weird' look had more to do with the use of filters and loads of make up, camera angle rather than her health.
