Is it THAT crappy though? It's just a matter of opinion. And who's saying we won't get a studio version? Or a proper music video?

We're so eager to jump to conclusions.

 

2. Charts in general are important today, just like the YT views, streams, etc. There are always articles about 'the X singer that has now 1B views on YT' or similar ones. So you tell me that if you wake up tomorrow and read everywhere in the internet that 'Celine Dion makes a huge comeback with her new single FOMO, that has 200m views in one single week', it will be unsignificant for you, right?

 

For Céline's standards, 'Ashes' did good.... were there a lot of articles and was it written everywhere she had "xxxx" views? No.. it was mentioned, but it was hardly a subject by itself. Sure I think charts are in a way important, but not as important as some here make it out to be. Some act like it's a thing which decides if you go to heaven or hell.

 

I think that yes, if a single is successful, she will do more appearances now that the LV show is over.

 

She won't. Céline doesn't really care about promo anymore. Her team and Sony will book an X number of time for her to do promo and that's it. She won't do more, because something unexpected happens (chances are slim anyway). Her schedule until the Fall is probably already set and they won't deviate from that. Believe me... I've been in contact with Sony during the TC and LMBTL periods and know how they work (and don't work).

 

 

The "charts don't matter" is similar to "the size doesn't matter" in sex. OF COURSE IT DOES! Sorry for being vulgar here.

I think that you’ve put her in that category and assume that it will never be any different. But I think that it very well can be different, they just have to want it, believe in it and take the next right steps. Just like Rene did 30 years ago when no one believed in her

 

No I don't assume that, it just won't be as it was in the '90's. I'm sure she'll have more success now than she had during the 2004-2013 period. And she will have a different kind of succes.... but these days her success doesn't hang on her music career (or a hit single) anymore. 30 years ago it was just Céline's music career, now 'Céline Dion' is so much more.

 

However surely all of that doesn't mean we can't HOPE for a successful single. What's wrong with that? What's also wrong with wanting her record company to promote it properly, or even release it properly (studio version)?

 

Of course one can hope, I hope the same. Like I said earlier, it has to do more with expectations and to also be a more realistic. What defines succesful? I think for us succesful means something entirely different than for Céline, or even Sony.

 

I have NEVER known a lead single / new song from an established artist to be released as a live version before the studio version is available. Ever.

 

So? Was there any established artist who did what Céline did with 'A New Day...' back in 2003? Because someone never did it, doesn't mean it won't work... or that there isn't more to it. For all we know, they're releasing stuff every (other) week from now on. Maybe the live version is an Appetizer? Maybe this live version is the equivalent of a lyric video? In the past, there was also an artist who released a lyric video for the very first time. I'm just saying that sometimes an odd choice is being made with a good reason. I too am completely flabbergasted why they did this, but let's wait and see what happens in the next few weeks........

I like this song I really do. I think this is truly the way for her to go to get a hit, genre wise. But this song doesn't have the hit factor to it.

 

If it would succeed the demand for Céline must have been far greater than I would have thought and her team would had promoted the hell out of it.

 

If this is one of the strongest songs on the album (which the first single alawys is, look at OH and LMBTL - both albums feels like a huge maxi single for the first single) my hoped aren't that high for Courage. Why is she having such a hard time getting HUGE songs? Ever since the ANDHC album she's been struggling quality wise. Are song writers intimidated by her granduer and not sending her their work, or are the best songwriters today also performers and keep the hits for themselves?

 

A mediocre song can become somehwat great if treated with great production. Is she surrounded by the "wrong", dated producers who likes to play it safe?

We don't really know what the production is like though- as we haven't heard the studio track. That is the error they've made in releasing the live version.

Although I do agree that this song is not launching the album- I think it is a treat just to tide us over until before November.

It was interesting to hear with more base and a fading ending. But to me it's clear that this song needs more than just stronger base. The Music is too far in the backround and I do hope that the studio version will have - like many of us wish in general - her "voice blending with the music". I am excited to hear the studio version in the coming weeks. It will depend a lot on the production to make this "nice" song "great" - but what we've heard in the Goodbye Las Vegas-video sounded very promising! Let's hope it's great.

 

I dont know if aynone took the time to listen to my version in which i recorded some extra drums and tried to sync them with the track and make the drums more pumping

Exactly! I can try to reproduce the extra elements but for now i only recorded, kickdrum, and another kickdrum layered on one another, a clap, some cymbals and a bassline which you can clearly hear in the beginning and end. I agree that her voice is the most loud and the rest is in the background. In the ciao Las Vegas video that is not the case. That is why it sounds so tame in the live version. It was also a quick version and i would spend way more time on it to perfect it, but this is just the show how it can be better with more kick etc

well in Celineland you never know what they are gonna do. Don’t be surprised when that studioversion will never see the light of day and the live version is the only version we will ever hear.

So if that happens i will gladly try to reproduce it. Yes it is their job but well...i don’t know how they work

sorry, but I’m fed up with hearing „it’s nice but not a classic“. I don’t want another freaking „classic“ that will bore me to death and make me melancholic. I want her to enjoy herself as an artist and make music that is energetic and makes people feel alive, dance, party, enjoy life. Enough with those „classics“! I want numbers like I’m alive and FOMO. The songs from the ´A star is born’ ost were played on the radio and they are live in a way... but they definitely need to share the studio version with us! I’m dying to put it on repeat! It would sound so much better than this live version

Well they probably aimed for this: in all the articles/video reports about her end in Vegas, they use FOMO. It's the perfect crossover from her ending Vegas, to the Courage Era.

If they hadn't done this, they all probably would've used MHWGO, IA, TPOL etc like always.
