“Recovering” was actually promoted Ellen and the stand up, TSMGO was when she received the icon word they generated more buzz then this live single, they needed to release this song when she was on carpool karaoke again they have failed to promotion aspect so far.

I want to believe that there will be a proper (studio) single release, proper promo, a MV, but with SONY we cannot take all these for granted. Maybe we will get nothing and they will announce that the single is a gift for the fans, or something like that.

i think that now they released this live version as her new song we will not get the studioversion as a single anymore. it will be on the album instead. stupid decision...weird also. We're so caught up with wanting what's not or what is missing, we fail to look at what we have and enjoy it.

 

Yes, her team/Sony have been failing miserably promoting her. They've always been. So why would it be different now? And does she really need it?

We all want her to be #1, but why is that so important? Yes, she definately deserves that, but is a #1 só important? No, it's just snapshot of a moment.

But I think that we want so much, because in the last few years they didn’t offer a lot at all and we are missing her and materials from her. We are her fans, it’s natural that we wait for stuff from her, and they as her representatives should know and appreciate that and offer us stuff on a regular basis, even small things like this, and not let us wait for years. Very often they wouldn’t even need Celine to do anything at all. They can just put up documentaries or clips online, release some stuff like they did now to keep us happy and interested. There is no psychological explanation to that, we want her to be back at #1, because we think it is sad for one of the most successful (in terms of sales, certifications, chart positions, etc) artists of the 90s to be almost nowhere in the charts today. Someone could say here that the industry has changed that much, etc. so it is a never ending discussion.

 

Besides, a successful single will produce some nice remixes, more live appearances, more interviews, etc. It is not just a snapshot of a moment. Celine had given us songs that are now considered classic. Why not have some more?

1. I totally agree with your point about leaving Sony or expecting Sony (and each label) to promote her like any fresh artist in his/her 20s. But we are just talking about a proper single release here and a MV for it, so no, I, personally, cannot be just happy with a crappy live version of it. They should give us at least a studio version of it.

 

2. Charts in general are important today, just like the YT views, streams, etc. There are always articles about 'the X singer that has now 1B views on YT' or similar ones. So you tell me that if you wake up tomorrow and read everywhere in the internet that 'Celine Dion makes a huge comeback with her new single FOMO, that has 200m views in one single week', it will be unsignificant for you, right?

 

3. I think that yes, if a single is successful, she will do more appearances now that the LV show is over.

I think that you’ve put her in that category and assume that it will never be any different. But I think that it very well can be different, they just have to want it, believe in it and take the next right steps. Just like Rene did 30 years ago when no one believed in her

Everyone is happy to have a new single released and to have a new album on the way.

 

Wanting the single by our favourite artist to be successful is a natural thing. We want to see her, and it, doing well. We’re her fans! If we don’t want to see her doing well then who will?!

 

I think pretty much everyone here accepts that it will be a challenge for so many reasons including Celine’s age, lack of radio airplay, her fans demographics meaning they don’t stream a lot etc etc etc among many more.

 

However surely all of that doesn’t mean we can’t HOPE for a successful single. What’s wrong with that? What’s also wrong with wanting her record company to promote it properly, or even release it properly (studio version)?

 

We can all still enjoy the moment with zero expectations of anything further to happen but surely we can still be frustrated with the glaring errors they continue to make time and time again?

 

I have NEVER known a lead single / new song from an established artist to be released as a live version before the studio version is available. Ever.

 

Doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy what we have though. 😉
