I'm glad she put out a video message. That was the right thing to do. She's looking much more rested than she did a couple years ago.

Like many of you, I also wish that Celine could've had a more joyful vacation -- and I hope that she doesn't stress anymore about these concerts right now.

Hopefully when she returns to the stage for rehearsals / performances, she will feel strong and excited and ready to go.

I think 2023 is going to be a great year for Celine and her fans.

-The release of Aline

-We know that a Vegas show was put together... just waiting on a new premiere date!

 

I'm also going back and rediscovering several songs from her past few albums. There are some gems.

Refund received today for what was to be the first show back in Birmingham. No issues at all. Still got Glasgow to look forward to.

It is funny though how the only song she released during the pandemic is the song that most fits the last 2 years perfectly, especially her life most of all.

 

She's just human, she can only work at her body's own pace

Marc Dupre was on Tout le monde en parle last night and was asked about Celine and how she's doing. The news is that he has no news other than what we already know. He said they haven't spoken lately, that he hopes for the best, is sorry she can't express herself on stage as she has all her life, that he saw the IG photo earlier in the day and is glad she has her kids for support.

From that brief exchange, it seems they aren't in touch that much now that Rene is gone, which, if true, strikes me as a bit sad. But I guess it must have always been a bit odd for her around his grown kids and their families, given how close they are in age.

I've always had the idea that this whole: we are one big family talk was up until 1990, until her career really hit off. And once she got a family of her own, the bonds with her siblings (or even René's) just faded away. And also now her mom is gone too, the connection to the rest of the family fades too. It is very sad, but also not uncommon for people who don't live nearby, or for that to happen when the parents are gone. People have their own families to attend to. Also, I don't think Céline ever really learned how to keep in touch with family 'normally', cos she had been working and focusing on her career since she was 12. Like when Claudette 'talks', it's usually the same: haven't spoken in a while, and she just repeats what's been said in the media.

 

If it wasn't for tours, shows or the occasional promotional event, she's really a recluse. And that's a shame for her, because there is so much to be discovered in the world. But if the interest or the drive isn't there...

I’ve often wondered how much contact Celine has with Renes other kids. I don’t think Patrick has been seen or mentioned since Rene passed. I agree it’s kinda sad. Would be a shame to think they are not close much now.

Maybe she prefers it that way, as she has been around plenty of people pretty much all the time. Maybe she takes time for herself and enjoys it.

Rene's part of the Dion-Angelil fortune was divvied up in his will, and when you have 6 kids with 3 different women and one of them made you a millionaire, surely it's a fraught exercise and difficult to tiptoe around, no matter how close a family you are.

The apartment in Paris (along with every other house except the one in Henderson) was sold after Rene passed.

To me it was always interesting that she never had a house in LA or NYC, or that she spent much more time in Paris or at a home in the South of France, say.

She’s not really just in LA or NYC but just for business. I think after Rene’s passing she was just trying to downsize since she says she’s the “boss” now. It makes sense if she just wants to stay in one place rather then flying here there and everywhere all the time.
