I'm glad she put out a video message. That was the right thing to do. She's looking much more rested than she did a couple years ago.

Like many of you, I also wish that Celine could've had a more joyful vacation -- and I hope that she doesn't stress anymore about these concerts right now.

Hopefully when she returns to the stage for rehearsals / performances, she will feel strong and excited and ready to go.

I think 2023 is going to be a great year for Celine and her fans.

I watched the video for a second time and it is heartbreaking. What a couple of years she’s had. I hope she’s calm and peaceful and just taking it day by day.

Well, that's an assumption on your part. And knowing this forum, someone will soon turn it into a "rumour" and before we know it, it'll be treated as "fact". So let's just refrain from doing that...

Jann Arden wrote a nice note, too. And Charlotte Cardin was one of the first ones to like so she clearly has Celine notifications on! Lots of love out there for her, not just among us plebs.

If she's well enough, I fully expect that to happen. Think she'd prefer a smaller show like that to ease back into performing. Closer to home, no additional stress associated with travel and moving of the entire production. She can rehearse in the actual venue and get her legs under her. This will be the longest she's been away from the stage in... ever?

Dutch concerts are now in August. I am okay with that. Let’s hope she gets better and her health improves. She already looks good, fuller in her face but I feel sorry how devastated she was. It was heartbreaking to watch. She is such a humble and sweet woman. Queen Celine!

Get started on a new bio, or record a few songs.

 

I don’t think people would be upset with her working and they do get the difference between performing and working on little projects. I think a project would help to get her though this. It can’t be easy being at home constantly (even if she has never been at home for so long in her career before).

 

There are so many projects that Sony could release without much involvement from Celine anyway.

 

“Celine Dion” is an organisation as much as it is the singer and despite her being sick, they can still go on and keep the brand going.

But she may very well be working on something behind the scenes. The doc is being developed so perhaps this gives her more time to focus her thoughts on that. And other things, too, that we may simply be unaware of.

Plus the many songs she recorded for Courage that never made the cut. Plus I’m sure the same for all other albums.

 

Sure, some didn’t make the cut for a reason. But they don’t have to even cobble together an album. The industry is pretty much track-based now anyway. Even if they were to release a handful of individual songs over the next few months, we’d have something.

Remember they included 4 bonus tracks on “Une Seule Fois” that were recorded at the Paris shows in 2013? They could even release the rest of that concert audio as it is clearly already recorded.

Green screen? I don’t think so. I think it’s her home. I think they use a Blur effect to move the background of her room look more soft.

I enjoyed seeing her on the video, I think the video address was necessary, I’m glad she’s doing better… but the ending of the video struck me when she said….”take care, see you soon I hope, I love you so much, bye.” I obviously know that she has to end kinda and that way and say bye to the fans but it felt more permanent like we may not see her until said shows are to return and that’s ONLY if she heals properly.

That blur effect is because of a lens with a very low f stop ( aperture) The wider open the aperture the blurrier the background. it is not artificially like an iPhone does.

Times like this are when I wish Celine actually liked to run her own social media pages and engage more. It would’ve been easier and faster to get the info. They must’ve just thought since they aren’t canceling the dates but rather postponing them yet again that if they wrote “new dates to be announced” that it would’ve pissed people off even more. Actually I tend to agree, a rare time I think they did it the “right way” if there’s any right way of course.

Yes, I am wondering when they made the final, final decision. Part of me thinks the choice of when to make the decision and when to announce was left to the business people on her team and at AEG.

 

That is why I do not really blame Celine at all. If it were up to her, she would probaby cancel the tour. But because of her contraclts and people demanding money from her, she cannot.

Well. I was trying to be positive, but deep down I kind of knew this announcement was coming. I feel so bad for Celine right now, but at the same time, Celine said she is getting a bit better and that her recovery is coming along very slowly so at least there is some improvement, so now all she needs is time to properly heal and get back to 100% again.

 

I knew when I saw her in those pics going to the dentist with Nelson and Eddy and then again in the Ukraine video that she didn't look quite like herself. Her face looked swollen/puffy, even under a mask with most of her face covered. I knew she was still recovering from that moment, but was still trying to hold out hope for a comeback. Very sad news that Celine isn't coming back just yet, but it was so nice to see and hear from her again. Hoping and praying for a full recovery soon!

We're certainly due for an album - probably French first - but I think it depends on the terms of her current Sony deal. If the last extension she signed was for 1 firm LP + options (i.e. Sony hadn't yet paid any advance for any future albums, just Courage), then they'd be less concerned about timing. If they already paid an advance for the next one, and based their financial projections on her releasing every 3 years or so, they'd want a release sooner rather than later, so they can start recouping that advance. But of course, for it to see any success, she'd have to be available to promote it.

Either way, Courage didn't do great and I suspect they're not recouped on that one, so they'll want to work her catalog to make up for any Courage underperformance (assuming that LP is crossed with her catalog, i.e. that they can recoup the Courage advance from her catalog royalties). Hence the IACBTM movie, I think.

It would be a dream if we go like 2003 or 2007 again with one french and one english album at the same year. Would be great timing with the film. A new french album is needed since it's been more than 7 years when the film is coming out, but a english album would make more sense regarding the film. The fact they didn't have an album ready for the 2011 Vegas show was a damn shame. Could have really hit promo hard. It's clear there wasn't one planned for last year either. I fear that Céline the recording artist is long gone.
