cdfan32 Posted November 19, 2019 at 08:29 PM Posted November 19, 2019 at 08:29 PM I think the song choices for the Courage tour have been very strong. This selection of songs makes for a happy crowd. I went to see Madonna's Madame X tour and that set list is very heavy on songs from her new album, and the audience was not feeling so much new material. When I saw Shania Twain a while back, audience members went to get drinks and use the restroom during her new songs. Whereas the crowds for the Courage tour seem to be having an absolute blast. Celine knows how to please her crowd. With these legendary artists, people want to hear a lot of their iconic songs. When I think of her peers — Whitney Houston & Mariah Carey — I feel grateful to be a fan of a woman who is still able to offer us so much. Mariah can be very shaky when it comes to vocals in her shows these days and we all know what happened to Whitney. I can't imagine giving up a chance to see Celine live. She is THE performer of our time, in my opinion. If she had to actually cut songs to add more, she should have cut the medley and cover songs. NOT any existing original Celine songs, which is what Celine fans pay to hear. When I bought tickets originally for the Courage World Tour, I expected there to actually be Courage songs on there, like the Taking Chances World Tour. Madonna's Madame X is entirely different because it's a theater show that is more theatrical performance than pop concert entertainment. It said so upfront and was specifically billed for a small intimate show for the fans. There are a couple hits there, but the big hit tour was her last one. That was all stated very clearly upfront. Shania's situation is totally different as she literally had not released new songs for 15 years since her last big album, far longer than any break even Celine has had. Plus, it's very unfortunate for her, but the lyme disease situation completely killed her voice. I saw her and was extremely disappointed vs. what she used to be. I know it's not her fault, but I prefer how to remember how it used to be. I saw Mariah this year too, and her voice is actually in much better shape than people acknowledge. You only see the bad clips go viral where she can't sing or has this or that happen, but there were still moments of heavenly magic. I'm glad she's still around and writing new music. Hers was the second best show I've seen this year besides Madonna's. At this point, the setlist to me is primary. Having seen Céline live quite a number of times over the last decade, seeing her perform the same songs over and over again is making it become boring (of course this is fueled by social media and all the videos we're able to watch from a distance). Besides that, the price/quality ratio is becoming worse each time... of course I love our queen and want to see her live... but to pay $$$$$ to see her perform (mostly) the same songs is not really "fair". If a ticket would be $80 I can get over it, but paying at least $200.. And then, like some mentioned, it's a tour to promote a new album, so of course you can expect the artist to perform a portion of new songs from that new album. If it's marketed as the "2019 tour" or "greatest hits tour", you know what you can expect (same goes for a "b-side" or "anti-tour"). But it being the "Courage Word Tour" and singing just 2 new songs, but also not being creative and include other songs from an extensive discography is just lazy. Even the French version of the tour doesn't excite me, when usually it's better and more creative than the English one. Totally agree that with Celine, the setlist was primary for me because I've seen her so many times over the last couple decades and it's been nearly always the same setlist except for Paris during Taking Chances and the LTAL tour which was incredible. I've heard all these same songs live so many times and with her better voice that it isn't exciting to me to hear more playback now. I'm keeping my last ticket only because it's extremely cheap, especially compared to the other acts I've seen, and I'm glad she's still around. But to pretend this setlist isn't completely disappointing vs. what it could be, even satisfying the casuals with the big hits, is doing her a disservice. 3 Quote
jpatdeleon09 Posted November 19, 2019 at 08:37 PM Posted November 19, 2019 at 08:37 PM Great crowd in montreal last nov 18. They also singing. Amazing! And i like the new moves of Céline after the big note during All By Myself 1 Quote
jpatdeleon09 Posted November 19, 2019 at 08:38 PM Posted November 19, 2019 at 08:38 PM I can’t believe how little footage there is of last night’s show. I was thinking that, since Montréal was such an anticipated show in Céline’s hometown (not officially but still), there would be tons of videos online but unfortunately I was wrong. Hopefully, more will surface tomorrow along with with videos from tonight’s show. I also have a feeling they will do at least one minor change to the setlist tonight. Here great quality. Great crowd too 2 Quote

I think with this acoustic arrangement.. she should tone it down. sing it properly. Look at her previous performances of this song from this tour. It’s better. More emotional I mean, the crowd wants to sing too. They can’t follow because she’s changing it lol Edited November 19, 2019 at 08:54 PM by jpatdeleon09 4 Quote

fred Posted November 19, 2019 at 08:57 PM Posted November 19, 2019 at 08:57 PM (edited) I loooooved how she totally re-interpreted PQTME during the last concerts of the FR leg before the ENG kicked in. SO artistic, so fresh! Was last night similar to that?? And I don't really feel bad for people not being able to sing along. If they want to sing along they can do so to the studio tracks at home or go to a karaoke bar and sing. When I go to a Céline concert, I pay to hear HER sing, not so I can sing myself. More emotional I mean, the crowd wants to sing too. They can’t follow because she’s changing it lol I have not watched it and I will not. PQTME is my favorite song and the song that made me truly discover Céline. Therefore, maybe I’m biased but I absolutely hate it when she doesn’t sing it 100% like the studio version. I used to skip the song when watching videos from Vegas, now I hate this new version so much (which I haven’t even watched but I know it’s drastically different) that I actually hope “Imagine” replaces it. mirage Posted November 19, 2019 at 10:38 PM Posted November 19, 2019 at 10:38 PM You all keep saying that the tour is for the regular fans as well. That's why there are all the hits. Well this is my take in a setlist I would die for, and it contains all the hits the regular fans want to hear. And lots of gems we like to hear. And gems regular fans NEED to hear!! And since this is never gonna happen let her do 2 things that makes me extremely happy. - sing the oldies LIVE (or record a new playback- and sing the oldies in Full, no shortend version, complete songs That would be a great start to begin with. But I rather see this setlist. 01. Flying On My Own02. I Drove All Night03. I'm Alive04. If You Asked Me To05. The Power of Love06. Falling In Love Again07. It's All Coming Back To Me Now08. Water From The Moon09. Acoustic Medley (Stand By Your Side/Didn't Know Love/In Some Small Way10. Then You Look At Me11. Only One Road12. Courage13. I Surrender14. Lying Down15. Change My Mind16. I Feel Too Much17. Dance Medley (Misled/Reveal/Somebody Loves Somebody/Unison)18. Perfect Goodbye19. Because You Loved Me20. My Heart Will Go On21. Boundaries 3 Quote

I like the song a lot. And I do think it works well on stage - although I always hated how they cut its guitar solo. But to me it is not irreplaceable. A proper smash hit I am missing out is Je Sais Pas. I suppose it is very hard for her to sing it after losing Rene. 1 Quote

MissHillCountry Posted November 19, 2019 at 11:01 PM Posted November 19, 2019 at 11:01 PM Anyone know if Ticketmaster will let you upgrade? I'm watching floor seats compared to my lower level tickets and when they go down in price a bit, will they let you upgrade and just pay the difference in price? Or will I need to sell my existing tickets and purchase new ones? (I won't do that w/o the others in hand first) Also....any of you that have multiple of the VIP merch box still willing to part w/one? They will let up upgrade if you bought official platinum tickets for other official platinum as long as they are priced higher plus the $10 change fee Quote

Sold like 500k in France alone and topped charts in Quebec and Belgium. And has been performed consistently throughout the years. I think Celine dropped the song due to Rene passing.
