I like that she has gotten away from being so scripted. I remember that being a complaint to many at times as a result of vegas. However, when she speaks for 12 minutes it is clearly cutting into 2 or 3 songs in a setlist that could certainly use that.

 

I know she's gonna talk. But i need 5 minutes of you're the voice to be CUT FROM THE SHOW to accommodate this talking. We have 20 brand new songs that we need to clear as much room for and unfortunately a 12 minute medley takes up a lot, that is new and likely not going. Youre the voice needs gone more than ive ever needed a song gone EVER!!! Imagine if the setlist goes beauty and the beast>ashes>you're the voice. That would be like a 30 minute segment of pure boredom there filled with too much talking.

I don't think she'll talk that much during the rest of the tour. That was opening night and Quebec. Special circumstances. Maybe she'll talk a lot in Montreal as well, but for the rest of the world it'll be several minutes maximum.

Another strange thing is that the fact that the tickets go on sale on Monday has not been announced anywhere. No one in Romania knows! Not even the celinedion.com main “in concert” page shows the date!

 

That’s good news for me though as I’ll (hopefully) be able to get my tickets calmly and carefully on Monday.

I am nowhere near as big a fan of Kelly Clarkson as I am Celine but I do follow Kelly. When Kelly has a new album and is doing a tour for that album, she sings at least 8 of the songs of it. For Piece by Piece, she even sang one of the bonus tracks (which is one of my faves so I was shocked/thrilled by that.) I didn’t attend her last tour but I watched it on YouTube and she apologized to the audience, saying she was very proud of her latest album and she wanted to sing a lot from it. She knew people also wanted to hear all of her hits and she said there was no way she could do them all but that hopefully, she would do one or two of your favorites. She also did a big medley like Celine except Kelly’s was comprised of shortened down versions of a lot of her hit songs.

 

Kelly also sings everything live - if she can no longer hit a note, she just doesn’t hit it, she sings a different note. I’ve never thought “Oh my God, she didn’t hit that giant note like she does on the recording.”

 

Kelly also does one new song (albeit, a cover) on every stop of her tour so that the audience will have at least one song special for their night because she knows that once she does her first show, it’s all over YouTube and the fans know what to expect.

 

Celine and her team could do well by adopting some of Kelly’s strategies, imo.

Mmm... chances are she'll add TT and TR aswell (and I sure wouldn't complain!). And maybe add in TC, LMBTL (both not too nessesary IMO, but she likes - or so it seems - to do song she's already done a bunch of times). Then add in IDAN and LCMM.

Not sure if anyone has brought this up yet. I just went through the opening night set list. There are 10 French songs that will be replaced with English ones. Since TPOL, IACBTMN, IA, BATB, ABM, and MHWGO are already there all she really has to add is BYLM. But let’s say she adds

 

1) BYLM - because major hit

2) TTWII - because hit and it’s uptempo and she’s been doing it lately

3) TYLM - because they recorded a new lip track and it’ll give her a song off

 

That leaves 7 more songs and since she’s already doing covers in a giant medley at the end....she could add 5 songs from Courage and be doing 8 from the new album. (FOMO is a part of the medley.) And that leaves 2 spots for those rare songs that she mentioned wanting to perform. SLS? WFTM? NBBMH? Although, the closer after MHWGO will probably be a well-known cover. I’d be happy for her to keep Imagine from BST. It’s a great closing number for her.

I think Courage would be the perfect encore for this tour. Now heading on towards her private and professional future alone. I think it's a nice closer.

 

Odd she didn't have it that way on the album (guess Perfect Goodbye must be the "perfect goodbye"). For those of you who have watched the concerts in its entirety so far (online or live): how well does Courage do in the middle of a setlist??

 

 

 

 

 

She could close with “Perfect Goodbye” but only if it’s a soft ballad. It would make sense as it’s probably the perfect goodbye song.

Other good options IMO would be “Immortality” or “Ce n’était qu’un rêve” (although that one should have been for the French shows).

I guess we're more disappointed with the rest of the stuff... like the weird song choices in other regards. Songs that really doesn't need to be there and the lack of what could had been there instead (from her OWN reportoir).

 

Solely speaking for the French leg: I don't see the "less interesting" songs being mere "fill out" compensating for what can't be performed from the unreleased album (well "can't" can be discussed, but I won't) and that they wouldn't had been there if the album was out.

 

Like I don't see that all the covers are there to fill out a "void" left out by the missing new songs. She got plenty of great French tracks to choose from instead.

 

And if DUAM, AV and T are all "seat fillers" too - there are other French tracks which could had made the concerts way more unique in 2019: AC, OSEAAC and other tracks from her post millennium hiatus French albums.

 

And the large amount of English songs (are there normally this low percentage of Fr songs on a Fr leg concert?) are they too there just to fill out the void created by "the songs that can not be sung yet"? Did they ran out of Fr songs?

 

 

I dont know how people can say shes barely representing the album and that its not fully shown in the show... duh! IT AINT EVEN OUT YET LOL!

 

The fact that of an unreleased album, in a French show, shes still doing 3 out of 4 released songs is great. Did yall expect her to do 10 songs no one knows? Wasnt that exactly what you all complained would be terrible?

Please keep us updated on how this works as I have some VIPs coming up and I don’t like the lack of information. The initial info at time of sale I think said some things would be mailed out but that’s cutting it close if your show is next week.

11 french songs is more than she did on the TCWT or the LTAL world tour in terms of French shows promoting English albums, so actually its MORE than usual.

 

As for the whole cover thing... I dont really have any strong feelings except for how much I hate YTV. I suspect we’ll get something like this for the pre-album release shows:

I have a VIP ticket for Kansas City and emailed them a couple of days ago. They responded that you will receive an email 24-48 hours before the event on how to handle.

I will say i like the way kelly does her covers. She does one cover each show and it is live streamed on her facebook. She likes to cover but she doesn't fill large portions of her show with cover after cover.

 

Im trying to be excited about 20 new songs on an album but if they'll never see the light of day live due to covers taking up space that is sad. 20 minutes a show dedicated to covers is too much when there are 20 new songs, hopes for back catalogue revivals, and the obvious hits.

 

This would be a great way for celine to do more covers while also giving returning fans something unique to a specific show, and best yet the overall focus of the show is on celine's material.

I’ve definitely thought similar to you. I’m just still trying to be optimistic. HA! LCMM being gone from the Quebec setlist I thought was an interesting choice and wondered if she’s going to drop it entirely or just move it. Since she opened with ICBTMN and then went into two uptempo songs, she might make those LCMM and TTWII in the full English show. LMBTL seems too difficult for her to sing live and TT was not a hit in America so I doubt she’ll add it here. She’ll add it in Europe for sure though.

 

Either way - it’s not long til we find out!

So I’m not holding my breath for many of Celine’s new songs to get live performances but I’m still thrilled to have the studio versions!!

This entire medley should cconsist of never before or seldomly performed gems from ANDHC and OH e.g., and not some random 80s hits from other singers... It’s a Celine Dion concert that is terribly expensive, and people want to hear her songs. She is no newcomer who doesn’t have enough material in her own repertoire and needs to cover somebody else’s songs. Come on, Celine! We got most of the dates in the end though, via Pollstar - I think they are all in Wikipedia now actually.

 

If not, I have the touring history for Celine from Pollstar which has them and can share that if need be.

 

I suspect we’ll get the box scores in batches and not as the shows happen.

I mean its been nearly 3 weeks since the last QC show, it seems like we wont be getting anything for those shows
