Celine’s latest illness was discussed on “The Doctors” show today. FYI, this was a new episode, however, these shows are pre-recorded and therefore a bit dated.

According to the book Céline: Beyond The Image, Celine recorded the classic We Wish You A Merry Christmas for the album These Are Special Times back in 1998. In the book, Laurent Cayla says that she was asked by the producer to change the word We (Wish You A Merry Christmas) for I (Wish You A Merry Christmas), which she did perfectly. Also he says that he had the privilege of listening to Céline singing the song acapella at the recording studio, while she was listening to the demo track through her earphones.

I was so excited today when I scored The Colour of My Love CD at Barnes and Noble for $ 3.59 . . .I had it already on cassette tape (I have every single Celine album from the 90s (French and English) on cassette tape, and I've been trying to decide how many to get on CD also, so it was super-exciting to get such a good buy on this one!)

 

And then, driving home, I heard When I Fall in Love on the radio! I don't hear too much of Celine on the radio in general nowadays, even on the "adult contemporary" stations, and When I Fall in Love was never played that much in the first place, so it was exciting to hear it! And it was from the CD I just bought!

So, I was just listening to "Your Light", and for as long as I can remember (since I first discovered Celine in 1996), I've always imagined cowboys and Native Americans whenever I listen to it and always thought that she should've filmed a video for the song, where she portrays a cowgirl and she sings in a saloon or something, with intercut gunfight scenes.

 

Totally random, I know.

 

Has anyone else here took the creative license to visualise music videos she should've made?

Surely you've heard the old cliche that states (in awe) that Celine (among others) can "sing the phone book"...

 

Well I've recently been bored enough to try my own hand at it.

 

I've consequently come to the conclusion that it's nothing short of an insult to Z Greatest Singer in Z World! Anyone who can carry a tune can sing the phone book! Just pick your tune (mine is the theme from the Lone Ranger, for instance), open up your local directory, and get busy. You'll find that it's not all that difficult...

 

So I think it's about time we busted Celine out of that mold and put her on a pedestal by herself where she belongs!

 

I propose that henceforth Celine be known as The Artist Who Can Sing Leviticus!!!

 

Or maybe Deuteronomy.

congrats...Celine needs the younger fans as well as the longer term ones! I've been a fan since Unison came out in 1990 - so 22 some odd years now! I was aware of her in the late 80's though when I'd see her name on the Euro & French charts and always thought it was a beautiful name.

1996: She performed Beauty and the Beast with Peabo Bryson and Because You Loved Me at the special episode in Disneyland

1997: The first time an entire episode was dedicated to her. Sang Because You Loved Me, a medley of The Power Of Love, Where Does My Heart Beat Now and If You Asked Me To and Ce N'était Qu'un Rêve and Les Cloches du Hameau with her family. She also sang the song Fly in memory of her niece Karine. Oprah interviewed Celine between the songs.

1997: She sent a video message to Oprah.

1998: This time, half of the episode was dedicated to Céline. She sang My Heart Will Go On and discussed her new album Let's Talk About Love with Oprah; she said goodbye with a medley of The Power Of Love, Because You Loved Me and Love Can Move Mountains. This episode was in Texas.

1999: The full episode was dedicated to discuss Celine's 2-year-retirement and her latest album All The Way... A Decade Of Song. She opened the show performing a medley of I'm Your Angel, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and My Heart Will Go On and also debuted her new single That's The Way It Is. Oprah, Céline and René gave two tickets for the Millenium Concert to a couple of lucky fans.

2000: A short clip of Celine's second wedding in Las Vegas was shown at the show and Oprah talked about it a little bit.

2002: Full episode dedicated to her comeback album A New Day Has Come. She performed a medley of Because You Loved Me and My Heart Will Go On, introduced René-Charles to the audience, discussed her comeback with Oprah and sang the songs A New Day Has Come and At Last.

2003: Oprah taped a special show in Las Vegas with Celine in her home, her dressing room and showing one of the dress rehearsals of her new show A New Day..., during which she performed The Power Of Love, I Drove All Night, If I Could and Seduces Me. This last one was never broadcasted. After the performances she was interviewed onstage by Oprah.

2003: They showed the performance of If I Could that wasn't shown during the latest episode with Celine.

2004: Celine surprised Oprah during her 50th Birthday party by singing Because You Loved Me and Happy Birthday.

2004: Celine sent a video message to congratulate Oprah on her birthday.

2004: Celine joined a full episode of the show to talk about her new album and book Miracle. She was interviewed and sang the songs Miracle, A Mother's Prayer and Beautiful Boy.

2007: She opened the show performing the original but shortened version of the song A New Day Has Come. Full episode dedicated to the launch of her album Taking Chances. She was interviewed and talked to Oprah about the album and the close end of her show A New Day... She also surprised some of her fans by singing their requests (Because You Loved Me, I Drove All Night and My Heart Will Go On). She gave two free travels to her final show in Vegas to a lucky fan and debuted the singles Taking Chances and Alone.

2008: She appeared in the show via satellite to tell Charice that she would be joining her to sing Because You Loved Me together during the Taking Chances concert at Madison Square Garden.

2008: This time the episode was about miracle children who survived difficult situations in their lives. Celine talked to Oprah and few children and sang the song My Love to promote the greatest hits album My Love: Ultimate Essential Collection. It was an emotional performance.

2010: Full episode dedicated mainly to her new film Celine: Through The Eyes Of The World. She also performed A Song For You and surprised The Canadian Tenors by joining them on a beautiful rendition of the classic Hallelujah.

2010: She sent a quick video message to Oprah to talk about the close ending of her legendary show.

2011: Oprah and Céline discussed her return to music after two years with the premiere of her new Vegas show Celine. She sang Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel) at the end of the episode. Before the performance she dedicated a few words to Oprah but that part was cut from the episode for unknown reasons.

 

Two weeks ago, I used to watch one of these episodes every night, so that's why I remember so right
