That would be nice of her, her work in support of Haiti wouldn't have ended with the recording of We Are The World back in 2010. It will probably be a benefit show like the first concerts of the Taking Chances World Tour in South Africa (assuming that it isn't just a rumor).

There's no official topic of "My Story, My Dream" ?!?

 

I searched story+dream+book and it gave me 11 pages. I found 2 topics, one topic was the spanish version of the book the other had something to do with David Foster.

 

Anyway, if theres one, please let me know.

 

I just wanted to ask people who read the book if Celine talked a lot about her music career and her vocals or if it was more about family and babies like it is 99% of the time in her interviews.

My Story, My Dream has lots of details about both her career and personal life. It's my favorite of the official biographies because (to me, anyway) it reads like a love story - her love for Rene. (it was written in 2000, when she was pregnant with RC, but before he was born, so he doesn't figure much in it). Even when she talks about her career, a lot of it is sort of through the prism of her love for Rene. It's very touching, and I think reading this book is what made me adore Celine and Rene as a couple.

 

Some favorite parts: About the early years-- "Sometimes I saw him standing so attentively in the shadows, in the audience that was watching me and applauding or gaping. And each time it was magic; I sang for him so that he'd think I was good, so that he'd tell me again and again,'You're the best.' And so I could make the tears come to his eyes. I was sixteen. I no longer knew how to get over him. I was already hopelessly in love."

 

Rene resisted for a long time, and the story of their first kiss when she was 20 is sweet and romantic, as are the stories about living in Malibu and recording part of Unison with David Foster -- the first time they were living together as a couple, and the first English album. It's a great part that beautifully combines the love story with the career story: "That winter in California, our days were peaceful. They were the last days that were that way, before the great whirlwind once again swept us up. In California, nobody knew us. We could let everyone see our love and our happiness . . .At the Chartmaker studio where we spent our evenings and sometimes our nights, everybody knew that Rene and I were together. We had nothing to hide. We could kiss, hold hands, called each other 'darling,' or 'my love,' without surprising or offending anyone." (There are details about the music/recording process too).

 

About her rituals before each show: Rene would "kiss me on each cheek, always the left first. Then he'd put his hands on my shoulders, and he'd shake me very gently while looking me straight in the eyes with a very serious expression; then he'd turn me around, position me facing the staircase leading to the stage and gently push me: 'Okay, go for it. You're there. Go.'" These seems symbolic of Rene's role in her career: gently and lovingly pushing and guiding her.

 

The part about Rene's cancer and their relationship during that time is very touching, and this paragraph from the end of the book is one of my favorites: "Of course, Rene is more than my manager, he is my lover, my husband, and that changes the rules of the game completely. But even at the beginning, he didn't think only of my career. He's always taken into account first and foremost my well-being and happiness. He's always wanted me to lead the life that I wanted, to have my mother father, brother, and sisters near me often and for a long time. Life must, and always must, be beautiful. It's our greatest and only priority. Today more than over."

Sweet thanks for the response. I've read "celine" from georges hebert germain. That one was awesome. And also the one from Denise Bombardier, that one was great too, but didnt learn anything new. It was like reading about a new fan that was discovering celine for the first time lol. Anyway. I bought "ma vie, mon reve" on amazon today... We'll see, im sure i'll like it.

Hmm, I hadn't noticed that before. I don't know of any officially-made ANDHC (album version) instrumentals. However, have you looked in the karaoke request area? There's a very well crafted, fan-made version of the song.

Does anyone know of a good program to edit songs/cut them? I have 4 bootleg shows (December 30th, 31st, January 3rd, 4th)from Vegas and I'd like to separate all the songs

 

They're in great quality, recorded with my iPhone 4.
