OMG, I have watched this movie maybe 15 or more years ago and it was one of my favorite! But I didn't know the song is Celine's- I don't remember it, just the movie! It was very cute! The "magic man" draw paintings that turned alive, he draw this house from the video and a boy went and peeped through the window. He saw something that scared him so much, that his hair fell out. I don't remember who told him to make a mixture with.. aaaa.... something and peanut butter, but he put too much butter, so his hair started go grow up very fast! He had the hair of Rene Charles! The painter cut hair to make magic brushes and to paint the magic paintings. I can't believe I still remember it, I've seen it only once so many years ago.

It was the greatest movie from my childhood, and even without knowing it, Celine was involved too

Call me an idiot but I don't exactly get your drift? I understand something nasty about them (break up rumors?) but I've heard nothing so it's probably just some person wanting to stir up crap.

What you said is pretty much what I meant. The person who said it didn't give a source, just said that several websites were talking about it- but I haven't seen any websites talking about it at all, so I was just wondering if anyone else did? Or if the person was, well...pulling it out of their butt LOL. Which is more likely. But my limited understanding of French is making me even more confused, so I couldn't really ask people there, so I asked here. I hope that's ok.

Okay. So this is slightly dumb, but I was wondering what Celine's most vocally amazing/powerful French songs were?

 

Being a new fan of less then a year, and not knowing any French, I've only heard 5 of her French songs (PQTME, LBDB, Vole, LEE, and the one on the Brunei concert). Which of her French songs are comparable to All By Myself, I Surrender, If You Asked Me To, When I Need You, etc, songs that are just, vocally jaw dropping.

 

"Le blues du businessman" (which you already mentioned) would be at the top of that list for me. I'd also say that "Quand on n'a que l'amour," "Je sais pas," "Et s'il n'en restait qu'une," "Terre" and "Si j'étais quelqu'un" are pretty impressive. I also think "Tous les blues sont écrits pour toi" is amazing, and it's quite different from a lot of her other vocal performances.

 

There are certainly a lot of really amazing vocal performances in French (because Celine's voice is just so incredible), but it seems to me that her French music is a bit more about nuanced performances, so you don't really get as many "money notes" as in English.

Well, I think the reason "A New Day Has Come" wasn't included in the U.K. is because of what happened in Korea (before she got to the U.K.). During the performance Céline forgot the lyrics and ended up adlibbing quite a bit of the song. Since Céline is too much of a personal perfectionist (I'm guilty of this myself) she probably decided to nix the song altogether from the tour. It was probably too much of a worry on her mind. This is only a guess on my part, though.

Bummer! You'd think Celine would still remember the lyrics after singing them over & over on AND... hehe!

Yup! Electric guitar-related pedals/machines attached to a board. Usually found: a volume pedal, WAH pedal (that creates a wah-wah sound),

delay guitar effects pedal, sound distortion stompboxes, guitar tuner.... and so forth.

 

I don't know much about these gadgets, but I do have a friend who's a guitar player with this gear

Jacqui, I think she definitely means men in general. I think this means, that she doesn't need to use "sexy". If she feels ambiguity, she tries to impose kindness and friendly look that defuses. I don't think this is about Rene. But I'm not sure about my translation

With all the drama concerning Chris Brown & Rihanna and everyone speaking out on the issue of domestic abuse, don't you think this would be a good time for This Time to get the attention it deserves? Maybe if there were some sort of cd or benefit to raise awareness? The song came on my playlist just as I was reading yet another article about the scandal so the thought occurred...I know it seems kind of opportunistic at the same time lol but I think it's a great song that people should hear

I think it would be an excellent time for this song to get some attention. I wish Céline would've made a video for it (and that videos were still actually played on VH1 and the like). Every time I listen to it, I get the same picture/scene in my head. (Maybe I should call up Feeling and say "Hey, I have a video idea for This Time. I don't have any directing experience, but how hard can it be?" LOL.)

 

In all seriousness, it really does have the potential to be a very powerful song. If only the public would pay attention.

Thanks What does she mean by ambiguity? The dictionary said it means "doubtful" why would men be looking at her in a doubtful way?

"Ambiguity" means "Double meaning"

 

If Céline is unsure whether someone is flirting with her (or worse), or just being kind and friendly, she'd treat them the same way by being friendly and kind back but nothing else. Does that make sense?
