smw Posted February 10, 2009 at 09:18 PM Posted February 10, 2009 at 09:18 PM I have been pondering on why I love Celine Dion so much. There is, of course, the voice. I believe that - as far as powerhouse vocals go - Celine and Whitney, each at their prime, are still the best that have ever been recorded. And then there is her demeanor. She has the raw talent to be a complete DIVA...yet she is so incredibly humble. And God knows she has taken criticism for being so sweet all the time - but that's really just who she is! People say she's down-to-earth. But I think she's anything but. She is humble. She knows what she wants. But she is incredibly flighty. She doesn't always know what she's talking about. She is not book-smart. But that endears me to her all the more. She has led a career that everyone in the music industry would die to have. And that can't happen just from the team of the artist - but from the artist as well. There is her dramatic-ness. I love how over-the-top she is. I adore it. I loved how during the Falling Into You tour - she would stand behind the microphone, finish a big note - place on hand on her chest and throw the other in the air until the spotlight faded away and the crowd went insane. She knows how to use her inner drama to create an experience for the audience. And this leads me to her work ethic. It blows my mind. She gives a big damn about us fans. I know that if it were possible - she would come and perform for each of us individually - and sing the songs that we want to hear. She is the only artist at her stature who would perform 5 nights a week in Las Vegas for YEARS. And then embark on a world tour! Is she human? It just makes me smile to think of Celine. The greatest selling female artist in the history of the recording industry. And she acts as though she has to continue to work as hard as she does...when, in fact, she could stop everything today. Go home. Live out the rest of her life only singing happy birthday to her family. And she will still remain a world icon.
Alex_Incognito Posted February 10, 2009 at 09:24 PM Posted February 10, 2009 at 09:24 PM There's no doubt that Céline has something that other singers don't have. It's more than just her extraordinary talent and work drive---she can make you happy just by giving a small interview. "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990
Jacqui Posted February 10, 2009 at 09:46 PM Posted February 10, 2009 at 09:46 PM Awww. Yeah, I agree. And I'm pretty sure she's human, she's just a really amazing human. About whether she's down to Earth or not, I guess that depends what you define as being down to Earth. I always thought it meant having your values in the right place, treating people well, being aware of what's going on around you. Which I think she is. Not everybody is book-smart, but she's done pretty darn well without it.
ce-line Posted February 10, 2009 at 09:48 PM Posted February 10, 2009 at 09:48 PM (edited) Céline certainly is different and that's what makes her special to me! And you're right that she isn't book-smart but she's very wise on life. And you can discuss what's most important! imaswede78 Posted February 10, 2009 at 09:51 PM Posted February 10, 2009 at 09:51 PM Celine has not become a show business tragedy. There are so many people who had just as much talent but couldn't handle success and fame. She has grown and continued to be the woman we all want to be. I especially like the fact that even when annoying papparazzi are present, , she simply smiles, waves and goes about her business. You don't see her hiding behind shopping bags and giving people the finger. We all remember the NYC incident while signing autographs. If that was ME I would have been out of there! But not Celine. She could easily take back entrances and hide from the public. No one makes her face the endless crowds who demand a piece of her. She just does it. Celine is beyond words. Celine is an incredibly intelligent business woman as well yet many do not give her an ounce of credit. Yes, Rene has made many of her big career choices but it was CELINE who told Rene she wanted a Dragone Vegas show and it was CELINE who requested the TC tour. I wonder if Rene would have ever thought of doing such a huge production in Vegas if she hadn't spoken up. Our girl is pretty savvy. I admire Celine because she honestly doesn't care about the "fame" and money aspect. How many of us "normal" people request a clothes line for our homes? I loved when Celine spoke her mind on Larry King around the time of Katrina. That was one of the first times she allowed herself to be unsensored and say what she thought. There is a real person in the "Celine Dion" we love. I know many of us dread the thought of her taking years off of work but I am very excited for her. When one of us is able to have one week of vacation it feels like ecstasy, doesn't it? She has given 25 years to us and Celine deserves a life too. She will always be there. And when she decides to retire, I will feel fortunate to have lived in a time when I had the chance to hear her sing live and remember what she really stood for. So go Celine, enjoy life. We'll always be here when you need us.
dandoodles Posted February 10, 2009 at 09:53 PM Posted February 10, 2009 at 09:53 PM she is the greatest singer and woman, i love how much she cares about the fans...and know that if it wasnt for the fans then her amazing career wouldnt exhist. as rene says "its the public that decides everything" and i think thats so true, and i dont think that alot of other artist or celebrities for that matter really get that. celine is so real and really cares about everybody no matter who you are or what you do. and i think thats why people love her so much...at least thats why i do...besides her increadable talent of cource!

nuts2you Posted February 10, 2009 at 10:44 PM Posted February 10, 2009 at 10:44 PM You know I sitting here thinking , If you ask any devoted fan the of any artist the same question? I really don't believe they have the same devotion as US as fans as we do for OUR CELINE.Wha t do u think.
takeachance Posted February 10, 2009 at 10:51 PM Posted February 10, 2009 at 10:51 PM Loved reading your post, Celine is really an extroadinary human being, and Ive also often wondered how can she do what she does! But she does and she sure appears human (she looks human and talks and sings and stuff and had a baby so thats a fact).... She really does appreciate her fans , And i think she is down to earth in the sense she seems to be really grounded, has her priorities correct and remains such a lovely lady. I dont know how she does it, she is one of a kind for sure. She blows me away:) http://i66.tinypic.com/2dk08jn.gifRIP Rene Angelil xx Sending Love and Prayers to Celine

Jacqui Posted February 11, 2009 at 11:38 AM Posted February 11, 2009 at 11:38 AM The NYC incident- do you mean the one when she was signing autographs and people were being rude and yelling and pushing, and she almost fell into the car or something? And corny means cheesy, boring, overly sentimental etc. 1

I know it's an old one, I know I have it on my playlist...I know! But it always make my day when I hear it on the radio, I don't know why I just wanted to share And yesterday, as I was watching a concert from the TC Tour, I was wondering: Has she ever dropped this bludgeon, the part from the microphone, I mean, while she is spinning it above her head in River Deep Mountain High? I could imagine if she does And where she has this skill from??? It is the power of the dream that brings us here!http://i.usatoday.net/life/_photos/2007/11/12/celine-mainx.jpg

Allie Posted February 13, 2009 at 12:58 AM Posted February 13, 2009 at 12:58 AM (edited) So today my friend introduced me to fmylife.com, so I've been going through them. I'm on page 8 and I see one that says:Today, I accidentally unplugged my headphones in the quiet section of the library, causing my music to play from my laptop at full volume. I was listening to Celine Dion. I'm the captain of the football team. FML.http://www.fmylife.com/love/14044 I know it was kind of a diss to her, but I can't help but laugh and kind of giggle a little at the fact there was a Celine mention lol I don't think this really belongs here, but there's no random mentions thread or anything (hint, hint?) MTJ Posted February 14, 2009 at 08:37 PM Posted February 14, 2009 at 08:37 PM (edited) I think there should be a little blirp on the homepage of the site that says where celine is "right now." haha something else I just realized... when celine's always singing "tonight's the night, it's gonna be all right" she's singing rod steward... but then she mixes it with another Rod Steward song "downtown train." She sings "tonight's the night, it's gonna be all right... every night everynight it's all the same on a downtown train."2 different songs Edited February 14, 2009 at 08:56 PM by imgoingtobiteyoure_face

adoreceline Posted February 15, 2009 at 11:44 AM Posted February 15, 2009 at 11:44 AM She was looking at some kind of underground war memorial. Well, no. She fell on her knees because of reverence for the Jews. They have a memorial there because of World War II.
