Sorry, Celine, but it's a big no for me. This is cringy AF. I wish she could dial down on her over the top confidence when she performs PQTME nowadays. The song requires softness and smoothness in her voice and minimal drama. Her facial expression and gestures as well as the unnecessary random adlibs are not adding anything to the song. Whereas before it's magical when she performs this song, now it's been reduced to a cringe fest. The magic is lost. I feel like avoiding hearing this song whenever she sings it nowadays. This is a masterpiece and Celine is ruining it purposely. 😣

So did anyone here go to see Babs tonight? If so, how was it?

 

She was brilliant, was my first time seeing her ("did not recognize all of her songs" kind of fan level...wanted to tick seeing her live once, at least).

 

Great opening, short orchestra medley of her songs; funny well written London related song...

 

She has the Hollywood 50s vibe, elegance and diva attitude.

 

The stage was her living room; she had tea and shared stories, pictures, movies scenes, life events etc

 

She was witty and sarcastic and sassy and adorable.

 

She sounded great, minus a few moments, which she recognized, as a perfectionist that she is.

 

Still mesmerised by the way she engaged with the public: fast, genuine, unapologetically herself.

 

Seeing her tonight, after a musical early afternoon, made today perfect like.

Glad I stayed for the whole weekend, it was epic.

More adlibs, not less, please.

 

I love it too! I wish she would play around with her other songs, also. This was what was great about Whitney...she would never sing a song the same way twice. She butchered a few of them though...

Maybe it's because I'm not French or because it took like 10 listens before I started liking PQTME but I don't hear anything wrong with the way she's singing the song.

 

She has other amazing French songs, I don't understand the sacrilege that some find with her changing the way she sings it. And what's more odd to me is that the things that seem to be bothering some are very small changes. Not a big deal imo.

 

To be honest I wish she'd sing another during her anglophone concerts, it's not like most attending would care if she sings her biggest French hit or if it's a smaller hit or a non-hit. I may never be able to go to one of her French concerts so I will only ever get to hear PQTME live :(

 

She should do a short French medley during the Courage tour. Would LOVE to hear EUS, Ordinaire, Je crois toi, A Cause, tout les secrets de ton coeur, or literally any other song.

It took pqtme 23 years to become lcmm 2.0 lol.

 

Once she begins dodging a note and adlibbing it almost never comes back to normal...this pqtme is likely how she will sing it going forward unless she stops for awhile.

 

1. The way she sings the word cry in rdmh has forever changed since after may 2008 and it absolutely drives me nuts.

2. Refuse to dance on the 2017 tour her approach in the bridge changed and never returned to normal.

3. chfil f#5 in Vegas

I cannot possibly agree with this. To me, when a song starts changing like this it means she's doing other things with it, experimenting with it. Sure, the crowd can't sing along with the recorded version they know, but I'd rather her do a song live and you KNOW it and that she is having fun with it. I, too may never be able to attend a French show so I, too wish she would do other songs in French besides PQTME. I love that song although I do not have that OMG I LOVE this song thing some people do with this song and that's okay that they do and I don't. Soooooooo many songs off the EUS album got that OMG I love this song feeling like Plus Qu'Ailleurs, L'Etoille, Ma Faille, Ce Setait a Refaire, and Je Nous Veux. But to me, when, after a while a song stops sounding like the recorded track, it means she's experimenting with it a bit. Can it maybe sometimes go too far? It's possible. But for pity sake, people, the world has way bigger problems than that one.

That’s how we know it’s time to retire the song for awhile, I wouldn’t miss RDMH and LCMM if Hyde Park was their last EVER performance but somehow I think whatever the “Courage” Tour setlist ends up being it’ll end like this:

I think that she changes the song, because she SANG it too much, I know many other singers who do that.

If it sounds bad? I don't think so... if she get bored with singing it? maybe. Well someone should ask her the reason why lol.

One thing that I find interesting, as she gets older, the more French accent she gets while singing. During the 90's+2000's it was less noticed.

I can assure you that from the front row, it was very magical to me. I love how she performs it with ‘confidence’ and not every syllable like the record as Rene would have wished.

watching these videos this girl took, she is so much in her element, she is so happy to be there and the crowd eats her! I am glad Vegas is over because this is the kind of audience Celine deserves! And look at her in that gorgeous green dress, the queen on stage!

Btw look at her when she just finished the reason - she gets emotional because of all the love she receives. It is touching :_)
