I am so sorry that you're a skinny shamer. So sad.

 

My mom of 68 years old might know better than you or I about this kind of situation. I hate when people ignore reality.

I always hoped that if playback failed, they would transition smoothly, she’d be averted in her earpiece and start singing live.

Except, in Paris in 2013, they just stopped until playback was ready to go again. My heart was in my throat. I’m so glad there was mechanical interference because of the sound had just cut out as she was in mid-dramatic lipping it would have been devastating.

This is an absolute risk every time anybody performs because I reckon almost 100% of concerts have some element of playback ..:

I believe that she uses playback because she has vocal issues. It's sad but after so many years of singing that happen to everyone.

I believe she is trying her best on the live versions.

 

On the other side, she can stop singing the hard songs.. and do try to sing the entire show live, she songs that fit her vocally. I think she did fantasic with IACBTMN in London.

I’m not sure if there’s footage but I was there and I felt physically sick. Thankfully she recovered seamlessly. It was 30 Nov 2013 in Paris and I reckon there’s at least one video on YouTube. Social media was not quite so prevalent then. Thankfully.

 

I totally understand why she lips. Back then, she lipped the whole song. I’m glad now it’s just the climax.

I was also present in Las Vegas for her comeback show in 2015 when she performed MHWGO fully live and it was incredible. She then went on to perform it live at the mini European tour in 2016 and 2017. For me, this more than makes up for the playback. We know she can do it.

I know she strives for perfection (and wants to preserve the voice) but I’d sooner have a not-so-perfect live version than a lipped one.

 

I still dream of the day she does a toned down version of TPOL so I get to see my favourite song live again.

I think you should go back to her June 8-9 2018 vegas show during the IACBTMN performance at the beginning. Live then transitions to pre recorded. It went smooth. I’m amazed actually. :)

I'm afraid if Celine will sing Power of love live once, it will be an acoustic version. But it is not so interesting without bam bam bam ... you know🤔

She has been trought a lot emotiocally speaking also back then, and that is something that affects a lot on vocal chords (I believe she is still emotiocally affected now,...) And yes, knowing she is way too much perfectionist, it will take a lot of courage from her side to give again fully versions for POL and MHWGO. I was wondering if POL was fully lipped on the London last concert?

 

I also believe she can sing these two very lovely, but if she will do... and it won't be a "WOW" the critis.... she is sacred of that. She might pretend not to be, but she IS, that's why so much lipping on these kind of songs. For many years she gave all she got, I can truly understand why she acts like that for recent years, but hey it's all fine with me, she is human being :wub:

She sang MHWGO fully live in April in Los Angeles. Sorry you missed it! Also, many times in 2017. Sorry you missed that too.

Well, that's Melissa Thomas on the right; SVP International at Columbia & Epic, so she was probably involved in putting this whole thing together.

I love it when she does her instrument imitations and improv in general. Wish she did more. Wish she'd scat more, too.

It's so much better hearing these songs with her improv rather than straight - if you want that, go listen to the record. Her playing with these songs is the only thing that makes LCMM, RDMH, PQTME worthwhile at this point. So I say "the more, the better".

 

100% agree. Hearing PQTME in Vegas a few months ago was one of the highlights of the concert IMO... it brought a flood of tears to my eyes to hear the very first song I learned in French live in front of me. Not once did I think “oh she’s ruining it with these crazy runs.”

 

Of course every fan has their own opinion/taste, but I’ve been shocked how negative a lot of her fan base has been in the past few months since I returned to the forum. Not saying you have to love everything she does, but really this doomsday outlook on her career/PR is more annoying to me than which songs she lips, ad libs, or whatever.

I agree on the first half of your post! More improvs to the people.

 

I disagree on the second half. FOMO should had been able to reach the masses, espcially the Audé remix.

Some other instrumentation for those songs so that she can sing them differently than on the record.

Vegas on wheels, what a shock :wacko: I knew what we were waiting for since I attended part of the soundcheck on Thursday, as she unveiled the full show in rehearsal witht the bonus addition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow (and even a mash-up of Cher's Believe inside All By Myself :giggle:)

 

It was a nice change to see an outdoors show, but standing up until 9 hours with the sun on my back and lots of fights in the audience and some drunk people behaving totally silly, it's something I'll reconsider again next time.

 

It was amazing to finally meet so many fans from this forum that were like "virtual" friends since mid 2000s but haven't met personally until last Friday :blush: . That makes up for all the disappointment with the setlist and Céline "promising" she would perform new songS from the new album in the show. If only she'd made the opposite and keep all the costumes from Vegas show and then find some time to rehearse a couple of new/old songs and make some tweaks in the setlist :pinch:

 

Despite it all, hearing The Reason and Think Twice again live is something I'll cherish forever :blush:

She never said new songs from the album, rather just new songs, which she did do if you count FOMOand Imagine (a cover, but a beautiful one nonetheless). However i agree, i was a little dissapointed. But id rather she put less effort into a one of, and have an incredible tour, than show it all of in London, spoil the surprise and then remove the good songs as the tour goes on

But why would it though? To me it's not steady filmed and do not have a professional feel. Probably someone in her team's phone to be honest.
