"Ashes" - from Deadpool 2 - Official Topic

I saw the movie.

The song is featured during the opening credits and then the instrumental is in another scene.

On a side note, I didn't like the movie. I saw the first one and liked it a lot but this one dissapoints.

And without all the Friday releases, Ashes could have been top50 on Itunes US by now.

I do not think Sony will do anything for Celine, nor with the first single, it will not have clip, I do not believe, I see artists over 40, like Shania, Madonna, Kylie, and others making clips and celine the only new we have is "Ashes", thanks to the team of the film, because if it were Sony we would not have any clip.

I do not know what's up with Sony and Celine, maybe it's time for her to change, look for a new label.

Ahhh, the naive people still believing in Sony Music LOL :mdr:

They stopped acting like a proper record label since 2005!

The only Sony Music branch that still do their job is SMFrance, but that’s a completely different game and career of her.

It is more naive to think radios will play Celine if she releases an uptempo. Radios wouldn't touch Celine with a barge pole even if she starts licking milk from a glass.

Maybe Celine needs to flop hard like Shania or Kylie for Sony to do more videos :-D

Would I like to see more videos from Celine? Of course yes, but Celine's career is much solid than many of her peers so they must be doing something right. And blaming Sony for Celine not being played on the radio is even more childish. Sony paid AC stations when LMBTL single was released and even that didn't work.

I do not blame Sony for celine not being on the radio, but for the treatment she's been on the label. When I mentioned Madonna, Shania, Kylie and JLo, I wanted to make a comparative relation to the new material they released, new videos, Madonna will be releasing a new song and a new video soon, that's what I'm talking about, about this type of treatment and support. It seems that Sony forgot it.

She has a solid career, but she has not stopped like other artists, she still records new songs, just needs to be treated better by the label.

On Ashes, they wanted to Celine, she being from Columbia / sony, they made a contract, but see, what made Celine more publicity for this song, Deadpoll's team, Ryan who talks about her, Celine's team is up releasing the music, plus you do not see anything from Sony, any kind of attitude on the part of the record company that neglects, I may be wrong but I think so.

Céline's case leaves me perplexed, in all honesty, nobody can deny it when comparing to other artists and not only from this generation.

It's not only Sony, but one can wonder if she actually has a team.

I'm sorry but Céline is an international artist that still hasn't experienced a huge flop ( album-wise at least) , and she is totally neglected. But not a bit. Like on every level of her marketing aspects.

Let's put aside her peers on the international scale, just take one of the most famous ( or not even that famous) singer coming from your country (for those living outside the US, UK...those big markets) and you will find out that he is treated better.

So, yeah, that a singer known in 2 -3 countries has a better team than a legend is not normal. Period. And we are not talking about the moon , just a basic MV. And it has nothing to do with the fact she needs it or not, her being Sony's priority or not or whatsoever.

Come on! They use a 5- year old picture on a blue background for her 2018 tour! What? We have more pictures of our neighbour on FB in 1 month than of Céline is 6 years!

Her team sucks. And big time. It's not an opinion, but a fact. Céline has been praised by the entire world over the last 2-3 years and do you think they reached out for anybody to work with?

They just sit and wait.

I guess we have to just see it for what it is. Great exposure before the album comes out, shame the song isn't getting the promo it deserves as I think the song would soar up the charts if it was heavily promoted. Celine's schedule is way too full for that though unfortunately!

Its a great buzz single though!

Im confused. Do people not realise when that was released Celine was still recovering from her surgery and the last thing she needs is excessive promo that could jerk up her voice and force her to cancel dates, virtually ruining her reputation completely

Thank you and THANK YOU. It's a pity some long-time fans here still don't get what the role of a record label it's supposed to be and what's their job and to what extent

isurrender summed up pretty good: she's having a momentum with this song, and Sony Music just sits and waits. Like the momentum she had last year during the tour, and two years ago, and Sony just sits and waits. No promo on TV of her album, no videos released (when they're essential today to promote the music). Like they've been doing most of the time since 10 years ago at least, letting go all the BIG chances with potential singles and ignoring Céline with music videos.

Worst is that the greatest mistake you're both behind is thinking that this is only due to Céline not being Sony Music's priority anymore, and that's the greatest silliest excuse one could argue here: this has nothing to do with priorities or not, especially when one here has the status of LEGEND like Celine has, and being one of the biggest selling artists on the music scene out there. Only that piece of information would be enough to have any record label at her feet wanting to promote her music the best they could and reaching as many places as they can. But with Sony, from their part is just the opposite, they just do nothing. Not even when she's making 30 years in the business or when she turns 50 years old this year. Not even a courtesy message to congratulate her on social networks :confused1:

So it's a matter of will and what they want to do and what not. For both parts, the record label and Celine.

Like it's been said, we've seen artists who are far less known and get a much better treatment from their record labels than Céline does  But I'm not talking about this single now, I'm referring pretty much to what has been the situation since a decade ago at least. Not having any videos from her last French album (despite being incredibly successful -ridiculous!), the scarce singles pulled off from her last albums, the wrong single choices sent to radios that look almost made on purpose to make the album flop... etc.

We're talking about sending the song to radios, not having Céline touring all the major TV shows with live performances.

They have not released any promotional single of this so far (and I doubt they will).

Celine filmed the music video while recovering. ;)

She made what was needed to do. Now it's time for her label promote the song! :pinch:

YOU and a few others have been discussing radio. But surplus amounts of people have been complaining about why she hasnt done this on multiple TV shows and complaints about BBMAs, when her major concern (rightfully so) is her health.

However whilst i find Sony is her record label... this was released under *Columbia* not Sony and its possible due to this that they cannot push it because it aint there material. Just a thought, if im wrong based on the legal issues let me know.

Once again, lip syncing to a song for an hour or two for a shoot is FAR different to performing it live every day when she is still recovering.

And before you try and say “oh but she’s talking”, talking and singing are a WHOLEEEEEE different ball game

It has nothing to do with being their priority or need to be.

When you are a recordcompany and you have really THE BEST singer of all time signed. You should treat her as the BEST.

Really the whole world is embracing Celine, just because of her being silly, losing Rene, her fashion.

The ONLY thing that Sony HAS to do, is ACT on that moment.

Same goes with the song, push it to the radio, the world needs it apparently, and the world loves it.

Easier as it ever been!!

Why wait for her own new single?

They don't even need to make a promotion schedule, or she don't even need to record something.

They have A LOT of songs, video's, remixes that could be released any minute.

Really it is given to them, the only need to catch the moment.

But they rather choose to promote Nicki's boobs. When Celine has a way longer expiration date than all those NEW artists have.

So why not be grateful and take care of the best thing you have.

They really have gold in their hands with Celine, and with a little more effort it easily turns into diamond.

I'm so sick of reading all the "we are coming for Sony with torches" posts. This soundtrack was released on the Columbia label. I guarantee that had Celine not been sick recently, and wasn't just about to start a new leg of her residency, she'd be promoting the song somehow. Sony has done an immense amount for Celine throughout her career. She's clearly not their priority anymore as she doesn't need to be. The younger audience was always the one to cater to in this business. That hasn't changed for decades. This argument (along with Vegas) is had ad nauseum and it is BEYOND time to push both aside as neither is going to change. If there are new points to argue for either, then bring it on. But regurgitating the same BS every time, in every topic on this board is just a waste of web space. Let's move on. #ShallWeGoForIt

Hopefully with the movie releasing she’ll jump up the charts again next week.

And why is that Darren? :)

Something coming up, or did they finally hired a decent social media team to keep things up to date?! :giggle:

They don't need to post everyday, but a bit more regularly would be nice.

It's always "all or nothing" with instagram.

Btw I miss those "home" posts like in the beginning, her Halloween snacks and decorating haha

Apparently we should soon see a noticeable difference regarding her social media updates according to someone I spoke to this week from her team.

Things can only get better on that front right! :P

But radios won't play Celine even if the songs are sent to them.

#TakingChances #IDroveAllNight

Her last 2 major singles didn't even hit the top 40 on the Hot 100. Radio just doesn't play her, so why is SONY US going to waste the money on that kind of distribution when they know they're not going to get a return on it?

Will they spend millions paying radios knowing for sure they won’t play her no matter how good the song is? If I were a marketing executive at Sony I definitely wouldn’t. I’d do what they actually do, having her in every major tv show around the globe when she releases an album, The Voice, Ellen, GMA, Dancing with the starts, XFactor, BMAs... Someone wondered how is possible that Celine hasn’t had a flop album despite Sony, here is the answer.
