"Ashes" - from Deadpool 2 - Official Topic

That's a shame. Although seeing impact on ITunes chart in Indonesia up 19 places

 

 

A local TV with mostly millennial audiences talk about the song, and they play ashes music video today. I don't know which one had a bigger impact on iTunes.

Ashes was shortened... the first 2 verses, half of the first chorus then midchorus it switches to the second half of the 2nd chorus. Then ends.

 

Cher's song (end of credit scene) and Take On Me were actually played longer, almost in its entirety i think... and Papa Can You Hear Me became like a running joke throughtout the entie stretch of the film.

Finally got to see the film. No Celine cameo. Just Ashes in the title sequence (shorter version). Ashes was played as an insturumental several times in key moments of the film but that's it.

 

So Ashes wasn't played during the end credits at all?

Sounds like there does need to be promotion of Ashes by Celine to some level otherwise it will get drowned out by all the rest of the soundtracks

And the fact that it's shorter, hopefully teases the audience enough to hear/look up/shazam the entire song after seeing the movie...

Nope it wasn't. It was pklayed at the beginning.

 

Songs in the credits were We Belong by Pat Benatar, Cher's If I Could Turn Back Time, and a song with "X-Force" in the lyics.

Ryan Reynolds can't stop talking about Céline Dion — or singing her songs

 

 

When we last checked in on Ryan Reynolds, he was bantering with Céline Dion at the conclusion of her music video for Ashes.

Nearly two weeks have passed and the Deadpool star still can’t stop talking about Céline Dion. Can you blame him?

Asked by France’s Canal+ how he felt upon learning that Dion would be on the Deadpool 2 soundtrack, Reynolds said, “I lost my mind. I was the most excited human being ever.”

The French network’s Boîte à questions also asked him to do an impression of Dion singing her new song. You’d think this would be easy for Reynolds, seeing as he — or, if you’re less credulous, someone else wearing the Deadpool suit — danced around her in the music video. But instead of Ashes, he delivered a stirring performance of her ballad from the movie Titanic.

Therein lies the essential truth of the human condition: We are all just waiting for a chance to belt a few lines from My Heart Will Go On.

The song is about the power of women to rise against the oppression they still suffer from sexism in several countries, and the singer also said it was about bullying suffered from teenagers.

The fact that "Ashes" is being played during the opening titles is a big thing actually. It is the moment where every movie fan is awaiting the movie and the excitement is very high. This way the song can make a big impact on the audience and take advantage of this excitement. There are many Marvel fans out there who are anticipating this moment. My ex is one of them and I know how important is to them. I believe the popularity of "Ashes" will increase with the time while Deadpool 2 is in the cinemas around the world. I hope.

Ok, let's say that the songs becomes a #1 AC hit. What will that practically mean? She will score higher in the AC charts AND also in the Top100 BB chart?

I never considered AC charts to have much weight, even when Celine was on it for every single song she released back in the day.

In my opinion, though it's in important scene, it's not memorable enough. It will be easier for people to remember "Papa, Can You Hear Me" song.

But at least Streisand isn't releasing new material like Celine.

That's what I've been saying all along. Promotion, Promotion, Promotion! Glad people agree with me. I tried explaining this to someone that Celine won't ever have this opportunity again, but she will always have her Las Vegas show for years to come. But they just couldn't comprehend. I gave up trying to explain. lol.

Reading through YouTube comments, quite a few people have said that after watching the movie, this song has a deeper meaning. Sound promising.
