Chantemoi Posted September 16, 2020 at 09:19 PM Posted September 16, 2020 at 09:19 PM I always read the same comments. I would advise you to watch the movie "Camille Rewinds" with a 46-year old girl who plays the role of a 16-year old girl. Of course, there's a fantasy flavor to the film. But I love the fact that she's obviously much older and nobody sees it, nobody seems to care. There's also the movie "Le nouveau" in which Géraldine Martineau, 29, plays the role of a 15 year old girl. She was so credible. I really thought she was a teenager. And also there's this american teen movie with the Asian-american actor who was 29 and who is in high-school in the movie. I don't remember the name of the movie neither the name of the actor. Please help me.And also the movie with a 26 year old Margot Robbie plays the role of a 15 year-old ice-skater.Well, get over the fact that Lemercier, 56, plays the role of Céline (or Aline) aged 12. That's the magic of cinema ! You believe in Batman, you believe in Spiderman. I mean you know the characters are actors and you can see their interviews, etc. You know they don't have super powers. But in the movies, you don't see the actor but the character. I don't know why it should be any different with Spiderman, Batman or with Céline/Aline. “Wet Hot American Summer” is another fantastic comedy that has a cast of grown adults playing teenagers. Eventually you sort of forget that they’re not that age. And then when you’re reminded, it actually makes the moment even funnier. I think the idea is brilliant, because it allows Valérie to stay in character throughout the entire film without some cliché montage/fade/transition from the child actor to the adult actor. She said in a recent interview that she loves playing children or child-like characters, so at least she’s got experience. I’m excited to see what she does with the role, and I encourage any skeptics to watch the movie before writing it off. Yes, she’s made some artistic choices, but she’s clearly dedicated to channeling Céline’s essence into Aline. 1 Quote
scielle Posted September 16, 2020 at 09:45 PM Posted September 16, 2020 at 09:45 PM Well, according to some social media, what they're screening in previews now is not the final cut. I guess they're "focus-grouping" it and will make final edits based on audience reactions. So it's still being tweaked. 1 Quote

But that's a French audience. I wonder how it's going to go down in Quebec and in non-francophone territories (if it gets released elsewhere, which I do expect to happen.) 1 Quote
manu23 Posted September 17, 2020 at 01:28 PM Posted September 17, 2020 at 01:28 PM If it becomes a success in the French speaking countries it might also be released in other countries. I'm starting to believe the movie is actually good, it doesn't need to be a proper biopic to be a good movie. 2 Quote

I'm starting to believe the movie is actually good, it doesn't need to be a proper biopic to be a good movie. Oh I think it definitely will be (released outside of francophone territories, I mean). If not theatrical (that's tough for any foreign language film these days), it's going to end up on one of the major OTT platforms for sure. I think that was the aim all along, and believe Gaumont was selling it at last year's TIFF. If it goes to Netflix or Amazon they might do a limited theatrical run in some major cities, as they've been known to do. Quote

Balao Posted September 20, 2020 at 11:50 AM Posted September 20, 2020 at 11:50 AM They say Pathé La Villette, nov 8th (just ten days before the official release) is now the only premiere in Paris. I feel sure another premiere in Paris will be announced soon, possibly at the Grand Rex. Right now, Valérie Lemercier is touring France with a lot of premieres. Quote

duri Posted September 25, 2020 at 10:33 AM Posted September 25, 2020 at 10:33 AM (edited) For what I see for now it seems like if I read her biography My story my dream and of course about her life after year 2000, but it seems nothing new will be presented with this film, only things that most of fans know about her, we will see once film is out but for now it seems like this. It could be more atractive if it has something more, something from her life profesional or personal that people didn´t know about. And the fact that Valerie plays Céline in any age is big negative for me. Edited September 25, 2020 at 10:34 AM by duri Quote http://www.supermusic.sk/obrazky/80543_Celine%209.jpg
jpatdeleon09 Posted September 25, 2020 at 11:30 AM Posted September 25, 2020 at 11:30 AM I think Valerie playing Céline from being a kid to adult is also the comedy. Maybe it’s really funny seeing her like that in a kid’s body. So, there’s CGI happening here. So, this looks like a big production Quote
