Without wishing to pretend that HDAMLF is the best song ever (because frankly it isn’t) it does make you wonder what has happened to Celine in America. The public love her, the media seem to love her, other celebrities rave about her however the “industry” have all but ignored her for 10+ years there now. No radio play, no awards (except special awards) and no recognition of her work. I’m not going to pretend HDAMLF is Oscar or GG worthy but to not even get a nomination when you see some of the songs that did?! All very strange. 4 Quote Bringing you the world's only Celine Dion podcast show since 2014.Find us on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Spotify & Amazon Music.

CelineDionFreak Posted December 11, 2017 at 02:55 PM Posted December 11, 2017 at 02:55 PM It doesn’t surprise me one bit anymore what goes on. Mariah isn’t relevant for her voice anymore but rather her dress, so it doesn’t shock me. I don’t know if I’d go as far as to say people like her because of the provocative dress code she follows, but in some ways I really do think so. Céline does dress in high fashion in a classy way, and I feel like that’s not so popular anymore. I wish it was all about the voice of a singer but in today’s time, I think it’s drifting farther and farther away from that way. 3 Quote I didn't know love until they loved me back to life because somebody loves somebody!Le temps qui compte pour Celine est maintenant!

Javito Posted December 11, 2017 at 10:58 PM Posted December 11, 2017 at 10:58 PM (edited) Honestly guys, I'm not surprised at all. I haven't been surprised about her not getting nominations from the English-speaking awards since many years ago. Ages actually. And it's not the industry to blame, or the radios (which certainly look as if there was a boycott against her), but Céline herself has worked hard for this during many years ago. She paved this way, constantly ignoring her own potential singles and new releases, underestimating her own original music when she had the chance to make it shine, either on promotion or in concerts, and in many other ways and marketing-poor decisions that I won't repeat here because it had been pointed out ad nauseam Her credibility as a performer and as one of the greatest vocalists ever is unquestionable, but her credibility as an artist who came from the golden years of music in the 90s, ascended to the stardom by its own merits and then went voluntarily down with a wrong speech and attitude saying time and again that she had "nothing to prove" anymore in the music industry, that hasn't helped a bit to earn more nominations, believe me. And she kept saying that speech many years from 2002 to 2007, as if she was indirectly implying that she was "out" of the industry, but still working. Yes she had something to prove, an artist has ALWAYS something to prove, as long as she is active and wants to be relevant for the public... Something to prove, not to achieve, which is very different (because by 1998 Céline had already achieved everything possible in music). But she needed to prove that she still wanted to grow as an artist, that she still cared about delivering and offering something new to the music. However, most of what she has done since 2003 is singing thousands of performances of her old hits (90% of which she got in the 90s) and covering ad nauseam songs from others, instead of betting for her own original material and keep exploring new territories in music. The evolution since 2003 until today when you see a show of her says it all: she's the same great star of always with an impeccable voice, but there's little to none difference seeing a concert of her in 2017 than twenty years ago I know I've opened a can of worms with the "credibility" and the "artistry" thing, but I know I'm not alone on this thoughts and I say it with all respect as I've always done, so I don't apology. Not in vain, Céline has been addressed as "queen of covers" in this forum several times, by her own fans, and we are the firsts to be annoyed when she picks the umpteenth cover for her shows and not an original one. So be it, but then let's not be surprised if the industry gives their back to her, for this and other reasons! Edited December 11, 2017 at 11:24 PM by Javito Quote "Hush, now... Popular Post manu23 Posted December 12, 2017 at 07:50 AM Popular Post Posted December 12, 2017 at 07:50 AM Why oh why... same speech in every thread Covers and Golden Globe nominations are related how? Celine wasn't getting the nomination anyway, it's the writer that gets it same for the Oscar. It's nice that the song gets nominated because that means she could sing in the gala but that's all, she will never get the award herself. And if you read a few articles all press agrees that Beauty and the Beast has been totally snubbed, not only has been the highest grossing movie of the year but also critically acclaimed, and 0 nomination? That's why it's surprising that The Star is nominated, not because it's a Mariah Carey song, but because I really think the song is not good and the movie was a flop. And I'm not even talking about HDAMLF, but over Evermore when all critics predicted its nomination? A joke. And talking about nominations, her last Grammy one was, if I'm not wrong, All the Way, which surprise! Is a cover. You keep auguring Celine's decline and lost of popularity because of Vegas and covers, but with everything she does she proves you wrong. She decides to sing in the Billboards? She steals the show (with a cover and a year later with her song). She decides to do a French album? Top seller of the year. She decides to tour? Top grossing tour of the year by a female artist. She decides to attend fashion runways and galas? All press talking only about her. I think we can all agree that her career is not at risk, despite Vegas and covers, so you can stop worrying so much and enjoy 10 Quote

I think we can all agree that her career is not at risk, despite Vegas and covers, so you can stop worrying so much and enjoy You did not seem to understand my post, Manu. I couldn't care less about her getting nominations or not, I said it from the start. It doesn't surprises me, and it's been a long time since I don't expect any big nominations nor awards. But I'm surprised fans here are still shocked and surprised when she doesn't get them, and that's why I posted My post wasn't about this particular nomination, it was about the lack of them since 2002 and why I think she doesn't get recognition from the industry for anything new she does. I said NEW, because yes, as you answered yourself with your post: she gets all the awards and hommages crediting her as an icon, legend and biggest selling female artist since early 00s (World Music Awards, Bambi Awards, Billboard Icon Award etc). But all of those are reflecting on her career, and all of these are relying in the status of star she achieved in the 90s. None of them are given for something new she has released, nor a song, nor some new album or material she has put out. That's what I was talking about. Yes, she can continue touring and singing always the same old hits, she can continue doing shows in Vegas and not creating any new original hit for the rest of her career, and she can continue doing fashion shows and haut-couture catwalks for the press (what does even have to do with music and what we're talking about here???). And me and many fans will continue thinking she just stopped aiming anything new musically and that there are no new boundaries of creativity in her English career, only repeating the success she had in the 90s with the same bunch of songs; always neglecting the new material she puts out in favour of the next cover she picks for a show. She's just living the success she had in the 90s on a repeated circle, tour after tour, show after show, but her career has really stagnated in terms of evolution. Of course, she could live just the rest of her active career like this, and she would enjoy success as she's doing now. But that's because of all she achieved before, not because she's offering and exploring new territories with her music precisely, or recording music she has never done before and defending it (which is what most artists does with every new album they release and believe in). I couldn't care less about charts and if she gets a #1, or a #5 or a #27 either. All I want is that she's faithful to her inner artist and with some renewed ambition in creating new music, and defend it when she has to promote it and show it to the public. But most signs say she fall asleep lying on the success she achieved in the past century and that she doesn't care the least to grow as an artist (not as a performer). The dreams and ambitions she had in early 00s with recording new music styles and in other languages are gone (or at least she hasn't mentioned anything of this since years ago). She got so comfortable in Vegas and offering the minimum to the public. Her Vegas show hasn't had any major change in a lustrum (in part because now she takes 5 years between each new English album). That's what I'm talking about, and that's what the music industry looks when they have to nominate an artist for their work. The big music awards won't give her an award to her for free just because she's the legendary Céline Dion and for what she represents (for that, there's the Icon Award and all the recognitions she gets for her huge sales). She will get a nomination again when she delivers a new album in which she goes beyond everything she has already done, and offers something really NEW to the public and critics that grabs their attention Until then, she can keep singing covers in TV, paying hommages to others and touring her old hits, or even doing as many fashion catwalks she wants (she's surely not going to get any music nomination for that lol), that I highly doubt she will get another nomination, no matter how good the songs are or how hot are the writers and producers she wants to collaborate with. And btw, I do enjoy what she does, if not I wouldn't be here And btw, I'm glad she has two careers in English AND French: because her French career is absolutely different, creative and fresh, and I'm very happy with it. She has a completely different approach when recording new songs in French than in English, and she proved that with Encore un soir. What she did with Encore un soir is what she's failing to do with her English career since ages ago Edited December 12, 2017 at 08:41 AM by Javito Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
