Taking Chances Posted May 27, 2017 at 09:46 PM Posted May 27, 2017 at 09:46 PM (edited) So finally we have a live version! Why only upload it to Facebook and not YouTube though? Well, nothing gets uploaded to YouTube so there's really no surprise there. I mean, where the f*** is My Heart Will Go On from BBMA's? Ok, so back to the live version. I didn't like it, and it seems like everyone else is. So why do I not like it when everyone else is? I have always loved Celine more than any other singer. Back when I first heard her sing I thought to myself. "I don't need any other singer ever, I found the best that there possibly could be. Celine should just sing all songs." (I know that's stupid, but whatever, lol) Usually I love her live performances, even the ones that isn't all that great. But this, I just can't like it. She sounds like a completely different person to me. She does sound similar to the studio version, I'll give her that, but maybe it's because this song really isn't that great. At this point I really feel like she needs to rest her voice, I didn't think it sounded good. That's the bottom line. I can't believe I'm saying what I'm about to say, but she really should take a break.... but I always want more, there's no pleasing me when it comes to Celine it seems like. If she releases and album, I want another tomorrow. If she's going on tour I want the setlist to be 109 songs. I mean, I am completely unfair in my desires for her music. However, after she took a break and came back with A New Day Has Some, her voice was flawless. So even though I want new music, touring and everything else. It can wait. I think voice on recovering is great, so maybe I am wrong and she doesn't need to. Or maybe it's the song. Which brings me to my last point. I just saw the movie, and I don't understand why people said it was so good. It's f****** terrible. I get that they tell the same story with just a few different tweaks, i don't mind that, but the casting of Belle is just horrendous, her singing voice is even worse. I mean, Disney - cast someone who actually can sing! Her voice was so edited and digitalized it made me cringe every time she sang. Her stupid accent doesn't help either, Emma Watson isn't a bad actress, but that stupid English accent is apparently the only one she can do. I love English accents, but her's as Belle is just wrong. I don't mean to be a hater, I have no problem with Emma Watson at all in anything else, (except that I don't watch it) but this was just as wrong as I thought it would be when I heard she was cast. And another thing, it was only when Emma sang it sounded like the sound mixing was working over time. Everyone else in the movie actually sounded human like, but when Emma sang, it almost sounded like a bad voice over. Ok, enough about Emma's bad sinning. I really don't give a s*** about it, but when I'm watching a movie I'm passionate. I think I might be colored after I saw the movie, but even though I think the movie sucked (bad casting (Emma), bad singing, too fast paced "love story" that yet felt like it dragged on for the entire movie. In the original I'm capture by Belle's love for the Beast, I can feel the love, but here I don't feel anything, they tried to do the same, but they need to change the dialoge to make it fit a live action movie. To me, this was awkward, and felt just ridicules. Oh, the way they killed off Gaston? RIDICULES! They can't even kill him now, he conveniently has to fall to his death from just standing on the ledge? I just can't even with this movie) I liked the song when I first heard it. I didn't love it, but it grew on me. I think I don't like the song all that much anymore, the studio version is fine, but this live version to me, it sounds like Celine needs to rest her voice. But then again on other performances, she sounds like "herself" so maybe it's just me. I'm sorry for ranting, I just didn't like her voice in this performance. It makes me worried for the future and the summer tour. Edited May 27, 2017 at 09:52 PM by Taking Chances 1 Quote
Javito Posted May 27, 2017 at 10:53 PM Posted May 27, 2017 at 10:53 PM It seems everyone agrees now that Celine needs a rest and slow down with her performing schedule. But I want to remind that 6-7 months ago everyone in this forum was asking and even demanding a new tour for this year (everyone except me and maybe a couple more fans) 2 Quote "Hush, now... But I want to remind that 6-7 months ago everyone in this forum was asking and even demanding a new tour for this year (everyone except me and maybe a couple more fans) Yes, we are demanding too much, but we wouldn't be if she didn't perform in Vegas 24/7. I love that Celine is so successful, so successful in fact that she can stay in Vegas since 2003 and still go strong. She's been there forever now and that's the problem. It's kind of a love/hate problem to have because who else can do that? No one else yet. And really, how healthy is it in the long run. When she came back to Vegas after the first time they decreased the amount of shows. It's still just not enough. On one hand I like that she is performing so often because of who she is and because she is the voice, and on the other hand I hate it because it's straining her voice. If she just dropped Vegas, took care of her voice for a few years and then came back with a new album and then a tour. Not a tour that last's two years, but something to support the album. She probably would sound much better than what she does now. It could be A New Day Has Come 2.0. And that's what she needs! And then perform every once in a while to keep it fresh, just not an excessive amount like she does now. BTW, kinda thought you would like my post. Or at least comment. EDIT: Celine takes care of her voice, I'm not saying she's not, but imagine what a few years could do. She could probably sound like she did in the early 2000's. Javito Posted May 28, 2017 at 12:05 AM Posted May 28, 2017 at 12:05 AM (edited) I don't think she could sound like in 2002 even with a 2 year break sorry. Her voice has got a deep tone within the last 5 years and we have to accept that. Even Celine herself admits her voice is not the same it used to be and that she doesn't look for the perfect technique as she used to in the past. That deep tone of her (which btw she was so proud of when she became obsessed with that "raspy"/"grainy" thing during the LMBTL era) I think it will be hard to get rid of. But there has to be a balance between performing and abusing her voice, like she's doing today Edited May 28, 2017 at 12:06 AM by Javito 2 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

But there has to be a balance between performing and abusing her voice, like she's doing today Sure, maybe not exactly like before, she is older and her voice ages as well. But she hasn't taken a break a second time so we don't really know for sure. Although it's highly likely that it won't become ANDHC voice. Regardless, it would probably be better than it is now. I wish Celine would strive for that perfect technique again, I get that things are different now, but maybe a little less "I'm so proud of this new quality in my voice" and a little more of "not doing that". I hated that raspy/grainy tone. I love that she experiment with her voice, and it sounded good, by all means, but not as good as she could, in my opinion. Better than other singers, but she wasn't the best she could be at that time. I think I'd prefer anything over the raspiness. Imagine how good "Water And A Flame" would be if it was recorded in 2002!! And not just because of her voice, but because of the whole mixing of the voice and instruments. I think my biggest issue is the production, or even more specifically the voice mixing. After Taking Chances, in all of her studio tracks her voice are very hard in front of the instruments. It's almost like they never uses "the" echo effect. I'm at a loss for words for what I should call it because to call it "echo effect" is also wrong. You probably understand what I mean. It makes her sound so different, and I loved it for Taking Chances, because I thought that was the "theme", but have they forgotten how they made albums before Taking Chances? After Taking Chances, Celine's sound is different and after 2007 the production of her albums changed and they kept the new sound. Can you give me an example of her "deep" voice? I know what you mean, but maybe I can look at a different clip with fresh eyes. Quote
jpatdeleon09 Posted May 28, 2017 at 02:05 AM Posted May 28, 2017 at 02:05 AM Celine's vocals in Studios should really blend with the music. Now, they want a direct/raw like vocals (it's like her voice is in the front). Before her it sounds like her vocals are further away from the instruments and it really blends well. When hitting high notes it's not loud and it's pleasant to hear. Compare her previous albums like taking chances and it's the last album that her vocals blends with the music. Loved me back to life, her vocals are so loud. Céline said before that "they dry me up.. usually they put a lot of reverb in my song.. " - in 2013 before performing Water and a Flame Quote

Yes, they went even further with Loved Me Back To Life (album) and pushed her vocals more in the front. I don't know what "reverb" means, but probably something they should use more of if they removed it, lol. I just listened to those songs and sure they are a little further back, but still not what it used to be. I fear we might never get that back. 1 Quote

If she really loves to sing in bathrooms, or loves the sound it makes she should bring it back into her albums. Reverb is pretty much how the entire Olympia album sound s. The resonance, the clarity and etc wasnt there anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That's why they need to bring back the "blending with the music" effect since céline's voice have changed. Raw/Direct Sound of her vocals it's not really pleasant to listen... it's so loud... when hitting high notes they auto tuned it (in taking chances album you won't notice it) so obvious. Like they are in a rushed to not edit it well. Bring back the reverb. Céline loves it. Remember Met Gala? Where she sings in a museum? Reverb also helps with the resonance. Wet vocals. Studio vs Live. Her studio albums nowadays is like a Live version of her vocals. Studio version should be noticeable that it's reallly different from the live version. 1 Quote
