I would love to have a "Céline... Live in Las Vegas" DVD.

Specially with the first years filmed! Way more elegant show ;)

 

My favorite version of the show was the 2015 one. The first years had too many covers for me and it didn’t really feel like a “Céline” show. The 2019 version, however, was much nicer. I wouldn’t mind that one.

I would want the opening week of 2011 just for the footage considering how little we have of that period, however I agree with you, I’d want the first few shows from August 2015. Her best Vegas setlist ever

question , now that her team has some extra time on there hands , Do you thing they will give us a DVD of her last set of show,, ?

And do you think with this extra time they will finally give us that DVD of the 2017/2016 tours

 

Maybe wishful thinking but who knows ,with them

I think the days of getting DVDs of her tours/Vegas shows are over. Maybe we’ll get some Netflix concert at some point. The DVD market is as dead as the music market. No one buys anything anymore - they just subscribe to services and watch whatever content that subscriber has.

Agreed. Our biggest hope is getting the concert -- or a documentary with concert footage mixed in -- on Netflix or some other streaming platform.

 

I would love for Celine to have her moment -- like Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga have on Netflix.

It would be nice with a Netflix documentary, but they don't seem to even care to make "behind the scenes" content anymore. With Taking Chances we got actual recording sessions, and with Courage we got the "Behind Courage" on Apple Music that was absolutely worthless. We also got a very brief snipped of the recording sessions, but without actually hearing the sessions itself, and it was a minute long with Courage playing over everything. With this Courage era it's really the least effort possible made with anything.

 

Where did the effort and care go?

I think it went with Rene. He was the business side of things. She was always just the singer. And she’s still singing and doing a heck of a job at it as always! But making sure every recording session gets recorded for a behind the scenes video and all the other stuff like that was never her thing. And it seems that it still isn’t. If she had a manager who pushed to make that happen... But I think Celine is at the stage where she won’t let anyone manager her. She’s the BOSS and things happen only if she wants them to happen.

All that said, I really have to hand it to her for the direction her music went in on this latest album. But I do feel she could still surprise us and elevate her game—at least on the concert/media/business side.

Again, I’m only theorizing because I don’t know Celine. But it seems to me that what she wants to have happen is that she performs live in front of an audience. She clearly loves it. AND it’s how she makes most of her income. Yes, she says she’s tired of the old songs but the old songs are how she makes her money - that’s what people want to hear. I saw 4 shows in the NYC area and took friends to all of them. These friends wanted to hear TPOL, TTWII, B&TB, LCMM, IACBTMN, TLYM, BYLM, MHWGO, ABM, RDMH, IA, RDMH (They also wanted to hear IDAN and were disappointed she didn’t sing that.) They are all people my age or just above (40s/50s) and they were in their 20s/30s when Celine was at her peak and her music was EVERYWHERE. And those were the songs that were everywhere.

 

I’ve tried introducing Celine’s new music but none of them like the album Courage - all for the same reason. The autotune is so obvious and they don’t like it. The type of singers they listen to aren’t current artists and are artists who don’t use autotune. They can actually just sing. I know Celine can still sing the songs without autotune but she allowed the new album to have autotune put onto it - probably to make it sound more current?

 

Celine loves fashion. She loves dancing. She loves singing. I imagine what she doesn’t like...sitting around a room with people trying to figure out how to get the rights to music so they can release old DVDs or take the time to figure out how to bug her recording company to release stuff from the vaults, DVDs of her concerts, etc. It was probably enough work for her to learn how to put a tour together as all the articles we’ve been reading have said how much of an input she had in this tour from the way it looked to the set list. I imagine that’s as “business-y” as she wants to be.

 

Fans want everything but Celine....she’s just a girl who likes to sing music in front of people.

I doubt Celine would have to put in very much of her own legwork to get the record companies to release stuff or buy rights to music, etc. Someone else should take care of that and have it as a priority. Maybe someone knows more, but the head honcho (Celine) only has to give her seal of approval and sign off on things, it would seem.

 

But you're right, I think she is very mentally removed.

Totally agree with everything you said. My only question is: does Celine have someone she trusts to take care of the business side of things? Rene had her so isolated, so removed from “show business” as she used to say. And she, of course, trusted him 100%. I wonder if she has yet to find a business person like that for her since his passing. Aldo didn’t last long (and I’m sure we’ll never know the real reason behind that.) I’m very curious as to who is handling the business side of things. I know she officially has 2 co-managers but they don’t seem to do much!

I, too, wonder who they work with on the legal / finance side. Paul Farbrman was the in-house business affairs guy for nearly 20 years, but he's now running his own shop (https://sunandskyent.../paul-farberman).

The curious thing is... Dave is (or at least was!) a label marketer, before he joined Feeling Productions. And marketing is where they seem to be really dropping the ball.

I'm still trying to understand what was the point of filming 4 separate nights if all they were going to do with that footage is put it into storage much like most of her recent tours.

Hiya thanks, I needed a very long break. I was burnt out once Vegas ended. I'm still here just been pretty quiet lately as not much has been happening due to COVID 19.

 

I know. Someone needs to find out The Red Heads had said the 2017 mini tour was filmed for use in interviews and archive purposes. I've never seen any footage from that tour in any interviews. It's just dumb to me.

 

The thing I don't get when we asked her management they argue a dvd is too expensive to produce no one wants it etc so then what is the point in filming 4 nights. If it's just for archive purposes take it from the screen footage as they had all these years and that's that what was the need for all the extra cameras.

 

I don't know if what we saw on the screens that night came from the extra cameras(I always thought so as it seemed different then the screen footage I had seen other nights) but certainly the angles were similar to the FOMO video which was excellent quality in itself. Such a wasted opportunity and I fear the same will happen to Courage when it resumes. It's sad tbh I was there a year ago tomorrow(well today it's past midnight here) and I remember being so excited seeing the sign saying they were filming.

Hope so keeping my fingers crossed but at this point I'm expecting the worst hoping for the best lol . Made me think someone should ask the Red Heads see what they might know about the footage. I mean realistically if we don't get it soon then I will be at a loss for words. I understand filming one night maybe two and not using it, it's happened but 4 nights?! Atleast Shania used her tour dvd footage she never released as part of promo for her residency.

Didn't we get footage from EUS for the Goldmann show?

 

The footage I *really* want though is 'Le Ballet' and 'Love of my Life'.

There's some great bootlegs out there for most other songs of the tour, but those two were much more difficult to capture (you'd need more angles). So if we ever get these, I'll be in heaven.
