"We’ll call it the “P.C.” era — Post Celine. Celine Dion, the architect of the superstar theater residency in Las Vegas, has closed the second of two resident productions at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

How is she being replaced? Volume, volume, volume.

“When you look at who is replacing Celine, it’s everybody,” Caesars Entertainment President of Entertainment Jason Gastwirth says. “The Colosseum is not going to be one size fits all.”

The long-term Vegas residency has been supplanted by a new booking strategy, and hotels are adjusting. Upcoming renovations to Dion’s own venue are being dictated by the sheer number of headliners.

“Rene (Angelil, Celine’s late husband and manager, who helped rocket her to stardom) used to say, ‘Nobody can do this.’ I didn’t understand what he meant then, because we had never done this before,” says AEG Senior Vice President John Nelson, who helped broker the groundbreaking deal to bring Dion to Vegas. “When she started, I figured out pretty quickly what he meant. It’s not just showing up Wednesday night, Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday night, taking a weekend on Monday and Tuesday and coming back Wednesday, Thursday, for 40 weeks a year. It’s not just showing up and singing for an hour and a half. It’s two hours before that getting into hair and makeup, an hour of sound check before that.

“Somewhere in between about 30 minutes of meet-and-greets with an unending parade of charity auction winners, fans, record label, press. It’s unending.”"

I think she was more or less Celine’s administrative assistant, right?

I just went to the camp Exhibit at the Met and the Celine “I love you” dress was there!

 

Does anyone have any pictures of her wearing that dress? I think she wore it to a party after a new day closed?

This look was way out there for Celine back in the day but by today’s standards it’s not!

I just went to the camp Exhibit at the Met and the Celine "I love you" dress was there!

 

 

I had a similar experience today - went to the Thierry Mugler exhibit at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and the moment I walked in, almost right on cue, Where Does my Heart Beat Now started playing!

Turns out it was part of a montage of various musicians wearing his designs - they had the clip of Celine at the Adisq (the year she declined that award) and a clip from her WDMHBN performance on Leno - apparently that was a Mugler outfit.

 

Great exhibit by the way - they have a lot of his runway clothes, theatre pieces, and iconic celeb outfits (worn by Bowie, Gaga, Beyonce, etc. etc.)

So no DVD of the show? Since Rene passed we hardly get any video content from her. That’s so sad.

Well since it was 11 months after the AND shows were filmed that the DVD was released, id assume the same thing now

yes, way to soon to give the hopes up. I assume the vegas DVD will come in early 2020 and the Courage Tour DVDs (hopefully they will do the same as with the TC tour...) will come in late 2021 :) I have hope Edited by ordinary fan

It's so sad! I know it's logical they are renovating it, because the last time was in 2007/2008 after AND ended, so I am sure it could have used a little work. But it's like all of Céline's footsteps have been erased! :down:

So I wonder what they will charge for "front" row seats now? It will feel like you are miles away. How much are they going to charge for standing in the pit? You know they will.

Pit will probably be (because theyre just after renovation and their main money maker is gone) like $500-600 AT LEAST
